As part of an ongoing pilot study, we are working with our contractors and suppliers to collect data on carbon emissions arising from the construction of One Taikoo Place. We are working with a research team from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering to utilise this data to develop a carbon accounting methodology that will allow us to identify carbon reduction opportunities for future development projects.

Corporate-wide vision and strategy In the bigger picture for incorporating sustainable development practices into an organisation, it is vital for a company to incorporate the concept of sustainable development into i t s p o l i c i e s , p ro c e s s e s , a s w e l l a s business planning so that continuous improvements could be achieved. I n o rd e r to g e t e v e r y o n e i n t h e company engaged with the concept of sustainable development, seeking top management support is the top priority. top management buy-in is important for formulating our SD 2030 Strategy. During the preparation stage of formulating our SD 2030 Strategy, we conducted a comprehensive review of our strategy with our middleand senior-level executives, as well as external stakeholders through interviews, discussions, and focus group sessions to understand the trend and discuss on how to further integrate the strategy into every facet of our business. This is an important process on how we work towards sustainable development – because we believe our senior management needs to lead by example, and to set the direction for the whole company. By adopting an inclusive approach

to the management of sustainable development, employees with different backgrounds and expertise, in addition to different levels of work experience, were involved in the process to help Swire Properties to develop a bold and clear SD vision with measurable and realistic targets and action plans. This is indeed an important element for us to ensure that SD Strategy can be properly integrated across our operations. This is just part of our journey on sustainable development, and we believe we have so much more to do. As an industry leader in this space, we will continue to positively influence the industry and join hands with our peers to contribute to sustainable development altogether.
