South Sligo Summer School - July 2018 This week-long event of traditional music, song and dance takes place in Tubbercurry. It attracts musicians, singers, dancers and participants of all ages and caters for all levels of experience. This eclectic summer school has deep roots in the musical tradition of South Sligo and the surrounding North Connacht region. Visitors come from near and far to take part in the week’s events and meet local musicians. It is a highlight of the traditional music calendar both nationally and internationally. Western Drama Festival - March & Nov 2019 The Western Drama Festival is an annual 3 Act drama festival for amateur groups in March and a 1 Act festival in November. Groups from all over Ireland participate and enjoy visiting Tubbercurry, which having staged the very first drama festival in Ireland in 1944 is the oldest such festival in Ireland. Coleman Music Centre - Open Year Round The Coleman Music Centre is one of the best equipped and dedicated centres of Traditional Irish Music in Ireland. The visitor can be ‘transported’ back in time through audio-visual and touch screen facilities to enjoy the best of traditional music as presented by the old masters and the younger musicians of today. The centre has a fully stocked Music Shop carrying a comprehensive range of CDs, music books, instruments, souvenirs and local crafts. The Coleman School of Music offers one to one or group tuition to visitors, available all year round. During July & August there are weekly traditional music concerts performed by local artists in the 130 seat theatre. 7th Wave Surf School We are a family run surf school, offering a surf experience to everyone. For the kids we run our extremely popular surf camps in July & August. A blast, so we are told.
