Facilities Assistant Person Specification

We have described below the range of experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills and attributes we are looking for. We will use this to manage our selection process and also to identify training needs once in post. We aim to recruit individuals who largely satisfy these criteria KEY SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

WEIGHTING PER CRITERION Demonstrable experience of front of house work, including general portering and 3 reception duties. Be capable of carrying out physical heavy work 1 Possess good interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a student-led environment 1 Be able to follow verbal and written instructions and to write clear and concise 1 reports of incidents. Possess a ‘personable’ disposition with the ability to diffuse ‘incidents’ which may 1 arise in the course of duty. Have a working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations. 2 Possess the SIA qualification or be willing to attend training. 2 Must possess a one day first aid at work qualification or be willing to attend training 3 Must be proficient to act as fire warden or be prepared to attend training. 3 2 1. Possess basic computer skills; training on computer packages will be

provided if necessary. Previous experience of working with the night-time or youth sector would be an advantage but is not essential. Have the flexibility to work an alternating shift system with basic hours varying between 10am – 11.30pm seven days per week (four days on, four days off). Demonstrate a commitment to drive the department forward and endeavour to achieve the highest levels of customer service. Demonstrate a ‘common sense’ approach to problem solving and be comfortable dealing with a range of situations including but not limited to direct customer interaction. Possess a good level of enthusiasm and ability to work as part of an effective team. Have basic computer knowledge to write reports, use a computerised booking system and other routine tasks.
