Men with Caring Hearts

SOS Nominates Volunteer Tom White for Award

SOS Children’s Villages – Florida has nominated Tom White, Region President of Florida, Maryland and Washington DC for Republic National Distribution Company, for his continued commitment to giving back to our community through the CMAA Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the kids at SOS. Over the past several years, the tournament has raised more than $1.4 million to benefit the kids at SOS. “Tom’s continued support of the annual CMAA Charity Golf Tournament since 2004 has been instrumental in raising much-needed funds to benefit the foster kids at SOS,” says Jay DiPietro, Chairman of the CMAA Golf Tournament, SOS Board member, and last year’s recipient of the Men with Caring Hearts Outstanding Male Volunteer award.

Under Tom’s leadership, Republic National donates $15,000 worth of toys each year for South Florida’s neediest children. Mr. White was most recently seen at the Village Marti & Tom White in December personally delivering holiday gifts to the kids and was instrumental in securing his company to donate all of the alcoholic beverages for this year’s SOS Hope and Home Gala in April. Tom and his wife Marti, along with their three children, are often at the Village lending a hand whenever needed. In addition to all of his work for SOS, he gives his time and energy to the Red Cross of Palm Beach County and has done so with pride and enthusiasm.

Seminole Casino Coconut Creek

New Casino Expansion Includes One New Roof for SOS The Seminole Nation has been a partner and supporter of SOS Florida since they opened their Coconut Creek Casino thirteen years ago. They invited SOS to their grand opening celebration in 2000 and gifted our Village with a first-time contribution of $20,000. Since then, they have donated food to the Village, been a ongoing gala sponsor, and named SOS the beneficiary of events at the casino at least once a year. SOS Volunteers Lisa Pechter, Lisa Guarini, Coconut Creek Mayor Lou Sarbone, SOS Interim CEO Debbie Levine, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek President Steven Bonner and “Extreme Makeover” star Ty Pennington celebrate the casino expansion with a presentation to the children of SOS.

This past February, the Casino opened their newest expansion which includes more gaming, new restaurants, an entertainment venue and a parking garage to their already sprawling property. Our family was invited to their opening celebration and once again received a generous donation of $20,000 to provide a new roof for one of our homes. We thank them for their continuing support.
