TECHNOLOGY 2: DAYLIGHT AND ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING INSIDE A SPACE

SOPHIE SLOAN 0909695 This room is intended as a reading and play room for children. I intended for the light to be the main feature of this room and for it to create interesting and playful patterns on the floor. These pattens would only be at the front of the room, which would be used as the play area, whilst the back has more diffused light, as this would be used for group reading and more calm activities. I want the colours and materials to have a warm and domestic feel. I achieved my aims by adding wallpaper to most of the walls (apart from the one directly ahead in the picture to the left. This wall would be a glossy white as it is intended to be washed with light and carry this light through the lightwell and to the floors below.) and carpet on the floor. I found that with a wooden floor the pattern of the windows could not be seen as the reflectiveness off the wood diffused them too much. Below are images of the light model taken at different times and on different days of the year.
