inside my mind

a girl with a penchant for all things creative where red acrylic is my blood, gesso is my primer and my ideas are my foundation. sometimes i temporarily abandon my intellectual ability in search of a creative illusion and forget that the combination of the two is what makes me strongest. sometimes i will create something and it works. it is beautiful. other times my naivety is obvious and i get it so so wrong. i love visuals and frequently find myself with my camera in my hands. this is when i feel most at ease. many a time i have found that my camera and i merge into one. through the lens wonderful things begin to happen. trees can speak and people are my muse. i am all seeing and all inspiring. i see things in motion and i see things in linear. and then, then these things merge together to create something new and something whole. the world synonymously moves around me. i am a minute person in an apocalypse. a frightening world of mountains, sky scrapers and dark thoughts. a fragment of the broken world will fall into my lap and i will try to make sense of it. it is a sign to create. a sign to visualise, imagine, innovate and instigate. a wise man once told me that only a blind man can take an honest photo. these words have never left me. i am still very much lost in this city and in this world. i have no idea which path is mine and which way i should turn next. many things swim through my mind when people ask me who i am. when you have so many thought processes how can you be sure that a final piece of work fully represents you. if you have different perspectives then which is the right one? what if ‘self’ is something you are yet to define and your given talent is unknown. the idea of self to me could be an entirely different thing to what the idea of self is to you, and what it is to the person sat next to us. inside my mind i probably believe that a thousand impossible things may happen one day. as long as i can continue to dream and believe then the impossible can happen. when my mind does creatively explode it sometimes scares me. it is crazy how the simplest thing i see can send my mind into a whirlwind and a frenzy of new ideas. and then i have to project this. how are you supposed to project this. people say that there is no right and wrong in art but when there are opinions i think there will always be a right and there will always be a wrong. its just that my right and wrong will be different to the next persons right and wrong. it seems so far that london is the city of oppurtunity and that these opportunities come in abundance. but things have changed too. i can not sleep at night and my mind quickly becomes my enemy. that is when the darkness becomes lonely. then i wonder whether instead of feeding the fire inside of me i am just slowly killing it. i have so many creative boundaries to push and a ladder with so many rungs that i just need to keep climbing . so many ‘norms’ that need challenging and a personal aesthetic that needs nurturing. i thought i could make here my home but now i am not so sure. i guess i am just a lost creative soul and that this is a little doorway into the inside of my mind.

SUBMERGED

I had really thrown myself into the deep end this time. London was huge and I was submerged. It suprised me at first how fast time moves here, I had been here just a week and it had already felt like years. London sometimes feels like you are swimming against a high tide, like you are pushing and pushing and you are just not quite there. Or perhaps it is just small town girl syndrome.

FASHION IS DEAD Autumn WInter 2015

Cold, nonchalant blues are everywhere- the harsh reality of today, mirroring the mood of a dubious world. The stark reality of today will be the future of tomorrow. Our ignorance will remain, our eyes shut tight lost in imaginary worlds. A sprinkling of fairy dust a sweeter tale than the sinister shadow of global warming. A plague of darkness in our minds, our souls. In our world. Nights are drawing in earlier, icy sheens maliciously marking the pavements, harsh winds whipping through the air. Summers clear skies are a distant memory, replaced by swirling snow clouds, relentless rain and bitter chills down the spine. I was blue and suddenly, I saw this everywhere.

A Secret Life A woman once stood carefree on the beach, silhouetted against the sunset. Carefree and young. Beautiful and balanced. Trees whisper in the background and the soft remainder of sunlight dances across her skin. Years later, she tells the story of the city, but the secrets of the sand and sea are woven through her body and her language a subtle reminder. Her mind is culturally enriched, dreaming of faraway exoticness. The sea runs through her veins, the soft waves rippling as she gracefully moves. She is the secrets of a past life A Secret Life A woman once stood carefree on the beach, silhouetted against the sunset. Carefree and young. Beautiful and balanced. EXHIBITIONS - A STORY OF INSPIRATION AND THE WORLD AROUND ME

Exhibitions have been a large factor in the development of my own design aesthetic. Truth be told exhibitions are the first thing that made me feel like I had found home when i moved to London, from Karl Lagerfeld at the Saatchi gallery to Tim Walker at Somerset House. Exhibitions were where I could float through white spaces in my own bubble, totally engrossed. Incandescent and ethereal, a new and innovative world. Visions and photos, paintings and desires. I didnt have many oppurtuniities to go to exhibitions at home. Such things were scarce, although rich when they did arrive- like a fairytale trail of thoughts and inner emotions. Occassionally we would have a day when we would leave the confines of the classroom and venture into London, forced into uncomfortable pairings and set free for a precious few hours to see the world. I loathed the restrictions on these days, I wished I could be on my own to drift tirelessly from room to room, exhibition after exhibition, indulging in what I wanted to see, breathing and capturing the world at my own pace.
