Finally, you have started doing yoga and found the perfect class in your locality. You have even started dreaming to become a certified yoga instructor. However, when you get to know that yoga has multiple styles and types, you have become confuses. What type of yoga should I do? What is the difference? Let us tell you.


Hatha yoga

Hatha is done in a slower pace where you need to require holding each pose with a fewer breaths. It is good for beginners as it includes a classic approach to breathing and exercise. In fact, hatha yoga takes account of all styles of yoga which involves physical practice.

Iyengar yoga Iyengar yoga was founded by B.K.S. Iyengar and hence got its name. This style focusses on precise and detailed movement with controlling the breath. Typically, poses are held for a long


duration in Iyengar yoga. It enables a practitioner to go deeper into poses.

Vinyasa yoga Vinyasa is the most athletic style of yoga where movement is coordinated with the breath. Movement keeps switching from one pose to another. Depending on your yoga instructor, there can be different types of poses in different sequences.


Ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga is a challenging but orderly approach to yoga. It consists of physically demanding series of postures, so it is not suitable for beginners. It takes experience for a yogi to practice Ashtanga yoga. It typically starts with five reps of sun salutation and shifts into a series of floor and standing postures.

Bikram yoga If you are looking for a complete workout through yoga, try Bikram yoga. It consists of a fixed series of 26 poses including two breathing exercise practices in a heated and humid room,


typically set to 105 degrees and 40% humidity. It was named after Bikram Choudhury.

Kundalini yoga Kundalini is a physically as well as mentally challenging style to practice. Though it looks different from typical yoga class, there will be repetitive yoga poses paired with intense breath work. There will also be chanting, singing and meditation. Kundalini yoga focusses on breaking the internal barriers so that the trapped energy residing within you can be released. These are some of the important types of yoga style. No matter, which style you choose, yoga is highly beneficial for your body, mind, and soul.
