BUILDING DESIGN This section contains the major design projects I worked on during my university studies. In these works, it is general that I conducted an extensive research and analysis about the surroundings, the functions and the concept. The duration of these projects were typically 3-5 months.

Distillery transition Industrial rehabilitation 2013.

Supervisor: DLA László Vincze

My graduation project was a part of an ongoing industrial rehabilitation project. I designed the conversion of an out-of-use former storage building into a high quality fruit spirit distillery. The function is based on local opportunities and traditions. The copper roofing is exposed in the design and refers to the copper distilling equipment.

Social housing Terraced gardening homes 2012.

Supervisor: DLA L谩szl贸 Vincze

Within the confines of this experimental housing project, I dealt with the problem of creating sustainable homes in former industrial cities in Hungary. The settlement is basically a modified form of traditional terraced housing. Environmental awareness is partly embodied by the rammed-earth and wooden structures and small gardening glass houses.

Bicycle store and service Solymár 2010.

Group leader: DLA Árpád Szabó Supervisor: Gergely Sándor

In the first part of the design project a research was conducted about the town of Solymár. I discovered that the design area belongs more to the public green and park network than to the conventional building site pattern. The building blends into its surroundings, treats the level differences, and facilitates the pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

20

21

Plant store Budapest 2009.

Group leader: DLA Antal Lรกzรกr Supervisor: Zsolt Frikker

The industrial area, which is located in the outskirts of Budapest, where this project is situated is in transition. Abandoned factories, warehouses and newly built dense dwelling towers can be found here. The site is rich in trees, so I kept them and designed semi-public gardens beside the store too, to compensate the lack of valuable green areas.

22

23

Family house Transylvania 2008.

Supervisor: DLA GyĂśrgy Hild

This house was designed into a small village, considering the traditional building habits and the needs of a family in the 21. century. The lifestyle in this context is aected by the nearby city. The L-shape is reminiscent of a former building on the site. A characteristic feature of the building is its accentuated veranda which is also typical in the area.

24

25

Art gallery and café Szentendre 2009.

Group leader: DLA Mihály Balázs Supervisor: Aurél Benárd

The design area is situated in one of the most crowded parts of the town. It is always full of tourists; and many types of shops can be found here. This section of the main street is the closest to the river Danube, so the building allows pedestrians through to the riverside. The building creates an intimate atrium-passage, which facilitates a variety of events.

26

27

Dwellings Budapest 2008.

Supervisor: DLA GyĂśrgy Hild

This building is an experimental dwelling solution, which was designed to be on the corner of a triangular building site. The composition consists of small (3 story) towers connected by glass bridges. The rooms in the apartments are situated in dierent towers. Between the towers loggias and sun rooms can be found.

URBAN DESIGN I was always interested in the urban scale of architecture. I also find it important during a design process to analyse and keep the urban context in mind or even override the given situation or regulations if necessary. The following projects are results of thorough urban research and analyses.

31

Green Budapest booklet Gentle mobility 2010.

Theme leader: PhD Mariann Fony贸di Co-author: M谩rton Ober 1st place at University competition

Nowadays the public open spaces in Budapest do not work satisfactorily, based on scientific and subjective aspects as well. In our work we laid down the basics of a concept to develop the green network in Pest. In this concept, the forms of gentle mobility, as alternatives of urban transporting, are playing an accentuated role.

32

Settlement development Solymár

2010.

Supervisors: DLA Árpád Szabó, Gergely Sándor Co-authors: Márton Ober, Rita Császár, Judit Nyerges, Erdenejargal Rinzaan, Luca Stefanics

The task was to find and solve the urban and architectural problems of a small town, called Solymár. We discovered the key places for improving the area researching this town and experiencing its atmosphere. Finally we gave suggestions for the most important architectural projects, which could develop the town.

33

Area development Budapest - Angyalföld 2009.

Supervisor: PhD Mariann Fonyódi Co-author: Márton Ober

In this project we designed an urban installation into an existing, developing context. An important goal was to create a quality housing and office area. During the design we considered the remaining situation of dense housing, the new tendencies of office buildings and the latest opportunity of connecting to a new green axis of Budapest.

34

New housing areas Oroszlรกny 2012.

Supervisor: DLA Lรกszlรณ Vincze

This proposal for an urban installation, was a preliminary work for the social housing settlement that I designed. I researched the history of the town and analysed its boundaries and current housing problems. It turned out that the range of housing alternatives is defective. There were almost only two versions available: either buying a family house or moving to old blocks of flats.

35

36

SMALL SCALE PROJECTS In this section there is a diverse variety of projects. There are installations, interior designs and one-day university design tasks. Some of them were made during my last trainee position at Panoptic Architects. In these smaller tasks I like to experiment more with free form structures.

37

Crematoria interior Rijswijk 2012.

Panoptic Architects Principal Architect: Ebami Tom

These interior visualisations were made during my traineeship at Panoptic Architects. My task was to improve the interior design of an ongoing crematoria reconditioning and to visualize the results. The main concept was inspired by the slogan: “feeling nature“. By now some of the solutions I designed have already been built.

38

Family waves Floating housing playground 2012.

Panoptic Architects Principal Architect: Ebami Tom

The task was to design modular floating structures that can be homes and form a playing field at the same time. The inspiration of this conceptual design was the waves, the only spatial structures on the surface of open waters. The design was exhibited on the 5th International Architectural Biennale in front of the NAI, in Rotterdam.

39

Modular playground Water-storage playing field 2012.

Principal Architect: Ebami Tom Co-author: Karin Uittenbogart

This concept is about a flexible and modular playground system. The structure of the design is inspired by leaf veins. The primary elements in its grid are the main pathways; the secondary gridlines are the smaller paths and waterways. The cells of the fields can be filled with a variety of functions.

40

WIJ MAKEN ONZE PLAYGROUND!

Public installation Snake fence-gate object 2010.

Supervisors: Csaba Molnár, András Mengyán

It was necessary to create an additional element between a newly-built library and a houndred-year-old church. The difference was so big between them, that only a structure which differs equally from both could relieve the tension. The result was this freeform wooden fence and gate structure.

41

Pier in the reed Hidden beach at lake Balaton 2011.

University one-day design project

This intimate beach is hidden in the reed and ideal for families with children. I extended an existing pier towards the lake, and then designed another pier, which embraces the bay area. I placed two playing elements and one bench to the three pier-heads. This composition does not exclude the reed, but the bay area is divided smoothly.

Recreational camp Collective space on a glade 2011.

University one-day design project

This building facilitates team buildings and summer camps with a focus on the collective experience. The sleeping areas hang from the ceiling and together with the skylights create a forest-like eect in the multifunctional space below. The contour of the building refers to a typical leaf shape or a cut-out from a forest.

Light gallery Budapest 2008.

Supervisor: DLA GyĂśrgy Hild

This design is for an unusual exhibition space, which uses the light of the sun to illuminate the exhibited two-dimensional art works. The building is situated at a busy public square and oers an additional opportunity to pass through the square, without making detours. But walking through this building is more interesting and pleasant.

Thematic cubes Cubic space experiments 2009.

Supervisor: DLA György Hild

In my first architecture related tasks, I received themes. Based on them, I created thirteen 11x11x11 cm large cubic objects in 4 months. The cubic object to the right side was made for the theme “inside-outside”, the one to the bottom for “inside”.

OTHER PROJECTS These selections of works are not primarily architectural, but are important antecedent and paralell artworks that helped to enhance my architectural skills. These pieces were made as a result of my extracurricular activities. I made some of them before university, others during my studies.

Drawings This is a brief selection of drawings I made. During the university studies I drew many installations of cubical objects, buildings and other topics as well. Before university I also drew anatomy related topics, such as skeletons.

Sculpturing I studied sculpturing from the age of 10. I mostly worked with clay, but I was always interested in experimenting with different materials, such as glass, gypsum, bronze or wood. I also made architectural models of terra cotta, such as the Casa Battló facade below.

Photography Making photos belong to my extracurricular activities too, my favourite topics are capturing landscapes, buildings, settlements, details and more.
