Success on the National Scene The Sooners have appeared in 36 NCAA Tournaments with 12 regional titles and 10 College World Series appearances. Overall, OU is 7969 in the NCAA postseason, including a 6-3 mark in 2010 on the road to the College World Series in Omaha. In 2006, Oklahoma advanced to its first Super Regional at No. 1 Rice. The format originated in 1999. Since then, the Sooners have won the 2010 Charlottesville Super Regional over No. 1 Virginia and later appeared in the 2012 Columbia and 2013 Baton Rouge Super Regionals. The 2006 season also marked OU’s first time to host a NCAA Regional in Norman at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The stadium opened in 1982 after the Sooners had twice hosted a regional at Haskell Park in 1975 and 1977. In 2009, Oklahoma was awarded its first national seed in the tournament, coming in at No. 7.
