Fountain Hills Charter School The Fountain Hills Charter School is a free, K-8 public Montessori school with a rigorous curriculum targeting the Arizona Common Core State Standards. Exploratory education embraces hands-on learning where students achieve at a pace that challenges their individual goals and abilities. Many of the classes are multi-disciplinary and project-based, with small-group instruction provided in areas where students need additional help. Music and music theory are taught at each grade level, and their STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) includes the arts as well as technology.
BASIS Scottsdale Charter School BASIS Scottsdale Charter School, one of the top Charter schools in the entire U.S., is just a mile west of Fountain Hills. Part of a Charter network that includes 16 BASIS campuses in Arizona, the Scottsdale BASIS school is ranked No. 2 nationally among all high schools in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report. The school ranking is due to its rigorous curriculum and studentsâ€™ high performance on national testing. BASIS Scottsdale boasts a 100 percent participation rate in Advanced Placement courses, with the average student passing 96 percent of the 10 AP exams they take at college entrance. BASIS Scottsdale accepts students in grades 4-12, and the newly completed 9-acre campus at 128th Street and Shea Boulevard became home to 1200 student in the Fall of 2016.
Arts Academy of Scottsdale AKA Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Scottsdale Preparatory Academy is a state-chartered public Charter School providing an honors-level liberal arts/college preparatory curriculum in the tradition of the finest independent private schools. This campus emphasizes artistic exploration for all students to round out their thinking processes and problem-solving skills. It is of note that this school provides a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to students with disabilities, who are currently eligible or are determined eligible to receive special education services and related services.
