Bride & Groom “Joined Hearts" (OPENING WORDS AND WELCOME) My name is Reverend Sonia Harden Lemke
my privilege to perform this ceremony of Joy today. Who is it that gives this woman in marriaqe? We are gathered here today in God's Open Air Cathedral with the sand between our toes to join Groom and Bride in Holy Wedlock. We gather here with family and friends today to celebrate their union, and to honor their commitment to not just gaze at one another, but look outward together in the same direction and plan a life together for themselves and their children. Today Groom and Bride proclaim their love to the world, and we rejoice with, and for them. In marriage, we give ourselves freely and generously into the hands of the one we love, and in doing so, each of us receives the love and trust of the other as our most precious gift. But even as two people share that gift, it also touches the family members and friends who in various ways support and contribute to the relationship. Bride and Groom, we are here to remember and rejoice with you and to recount with one another that it is love that guides us on our path, and to celebrate as you take this journey together. It is in this spirit that you have come here today to exchange these vows. (EXCHANGE OF VOWS) Groom, please repeat after me:
I Groom _______, take you Bride _______, to be my wife. I promise above all else to live in truth with you and to communicate fully and fearlessly. I give you my hand and my heart as a sanctuary of warmth and peace I pledge my love, loyalty, fidelity, devotion, faith and honor as I join my life to yours. Bride, please repeat after me: I Bride _________, take you, Groom ______________, to be my husband. I promise above all else to live in truth with you and to communicate fully and fearlessly. I give you my hand and my heart as a sanctuary of warmth and peace. I pledge my love, loyalty, fidelity, devotion, faith and honor as I join my life to yours.
(EXCHANGE OF RINGS) May I have the rings please: For thousands of years lovers have exchanged rings as a token of their vows. Your rings say that even in your uniqueness you have chosen to be bound together. Dear Lord, bless these rings that they also be a sign that love has substance as well as soul, a present as well as a past, and that despite its occasional sorrows, love is a circle of happiness, wonder and delight. Groom, please take Bride's ring and place it on her finger, and repeat after me: Just as this circle is without end, my love for you is eternal. Just as it is made of an indestructible substance, my commitment to you will never fail. With this ring I take you to be my trusted confidante and partner for life.
Bride, please take Groom's ring and place it on his finger, and repeat after me: Just as this circle is without end, my love for you is eternal. Just as it is made of an indestructible substance, my commitment to you will never fail. With this ring I take you to be my trusted confidante and partner for life. Not only are Groom and Bride creating a marriage today, but they also are forming a family with ________________________. Just as it is appropriate for Bride and Groom to declare their love for each other by exchanging rings and vows, they also wish to show their children how much they love you with these vows & gift(s).
HOPE AND JOY FAMILY UNITY CEREMONY I would now like to invite _______________________________________________ _________ forward to join Bride and Groom. Bride & Groom, please repeat after me: GROOM/BRIDE, I have pledged my love to you and promised to be a faithful husband/wife. Now I want to add another, different kind of vow. I promise to love _________________________________CHILD/CHILDR EN for all of our days and to treat them as if they were my own. I gladly accept the obligations that go along with this pledge. I love CHILD/CHILDREN and want them to be part of my life. A NEW LIFE FAMILY UNITY CEREMONY
Please repeat after me: Groom: I love you, Bride, and I love our children, __________________ as my very own. Today as we become husband and wife, we also will become a true family and begin a new life together. I promise to be your faithful husband, and a loving father to our children, and I will be there for you and for the children always. No matter what circumstances life brings our way, we will face them together as a family. I commit myself to all of you from this day forward and forevermore. BRIDE: I love you, GROOM, and I love our children ___________________________ as my very own. Today, as we become husband and wife, we also will become a true family and begin a new life together. I promise to be your faithful wife, and loving mother to our children, and I will be there for you and for the children always. No matter what circumstances life brings our way, we will face them together as a family. I commit myself to all of you from this day forward and forevermore. (DECLARATION OF MARRIAGE AND THE KISS) Groom and Bride, although I'm officiating here today, it is not truly in my power to sanctify, legitimize or bless your relationship in any way, because the two of you have already done that in your hearts. So, by joining hands right now and looking into each others eyes let it be known that you are joined, body and
soul in this lifetime, and that this bond is sacred and eternal. Now that you have stood before me and exchanged these rings and these vows, and have agreed to be married according to the beliefs of your faith and the laws of Stanislaus County and the State of California, it gives me great pleasure to pronounce that you are Husband and Wife. Blessing: May the LORD bless you and guard you. May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you. May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace. Groom, you may kiss your BRIDE. (SIGNING OF MARRIAGE REGISTER AND MARRIAGE LICENSE) After I introduce the couple we will shortly take a moment to sign the license. (PRESENTATION OF THE COUPLE) I would now like to introduce for the first time as Husband and Wife, Groom and Bride Muney. Mazel Tov!
