Pet Friendly Reminders Hi Everyone!
I know that a lot of us here at Live Oak Preserve love our pets! We would consider them as a part of our family! Please be kind and an outstanding neighbor by cleaning up after your pets and keeping them on a leash. It is also important to maintain control and follow all safety precautions while the pet is on or near the owner’s property as well as residential neighborhoods in general. This helps keep children, adults, and even other animals, including your pets, safe.

The First Day of School is Almost Here!
After enjoying long summer days, the first day of the new school year is fast approaching. Don’t panic - you still have a few weeks to get everything you need for your child to kick off the school year prepared and in style.
Make sure that your child’s backpack is appropriately sized for their current age and weight. Once school starts, have your child go through the contents every few days to remove unnecessary items and keep it from getting too heavy. Review backpack instructions on positioning straps and show your child how to carry the pack to avoid straining muscles or creating poor posture.
Orientations or School Tours
Save During Back-to-School Tax-Free Shopping Week Take advantage of tax breaks on the supplies, clothing and electronics your kids may need 8/2 through 8/6. • Clothing (up to $60) • School supplies (up to $15) • Computers (up to $1,000)
Get familiar. If your child is attending a new school this year and they offer a new student orientation, be sure to attend. This helps alleviate stress your child may feel being in a new environment, navigating
a new school layout and locating their classrooms, all making the first day less anxiety ridden for your child.
Make arrangements for your child’s after school care if needed. Do you just need childcare or does your child have a special interest or sport they could participate in after the school day ends? Check out our After School Program Guide for ideas and remember, many great programs will fill up quickly, so do your homework early and get registered.
Kids are creatures of habit. At least a week before school begins, start having your child follow ‘school night’ routines, such as going to bed at an earlier hour and getting up earlier each morning. This will make the first week of school much easier than completely switching gears the night before school begins.

Health and Sports Physicals Be sure to check with your child’s school early to see if any physicals or vaccinations may be required. If your child is involved in athletics, find out if a sports physical is required before they may participate. If your kids are due for a dental exam or cleaning, take advantage of the last few weeks of summer to squeeze these in before school begins.
