COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

What you need to know to RSVP for Lifestyle Events 1. Visit our Website: Visit www.egrandhampton.com to see upcoming events and click on the image of the event on the home page or on the event on the community calendar to bring you to that event’s page and click the “RSVP here” button. NOTE: Any event with a star next to it on the online community calendar needs an RSVP. 2. Know your log-in information: If you do not have one set up or need help, please email the website administrator at info@connecttoneighbors.com for assistance.

3. Check for age limits or restrictions: We have events for all ages so please make sure to check if the event is family friendly. Events that are just for adults will have an age limit listed on the event flyer or have the word “Adult” in the title. 4. Note if space is limited: Events may have limited space depending on the location and the nature of the event. Events that are held inside have a maximum number of attendees allowed because the clubhouse has a maximum capacity set by fire code standards. This maximum capacity is set and

followed to ensure the safety of our residents. 5. Check if the event is for Residents only: Make sure everyone in your party is a resident unless the event is open to the community or friends of residents. A few examples of events open to the community are the Fresh Markets and the Community Yard Sale. We look forward to seeing you at one of our many upcoming Grand Hampton events! Sincerely, Vicki Teter/Lifestyle Director Grand Hampton Grandhampton@melroselifestyle.com

Reminders for Driving in Grand Hampton

• Speed limit is 25 MPH. Please drive within the limit.

• Please come to a complete stop at Stop signs. • The vehicle in the traffic circle has the right of way, please yield.

• When parking in your driveway, please do not block sidewalk passage. Blocking sidewalks violates the Americans’ With Disabilities Act, a federal law, and causes an unsafe situation when pedestrians are forced to walk in the streets.

This is your neighborhood, so let’s keep it safe for you and your neighbors! Anyone walking / jogging in the dark should wear light clothes or reflective clothes, and carry a light of some sort for the safety of everyone. 8 • To Advertise Call: 813.501.4894

Lawn &

Garden

FEBRUARY Plantings & Lawn Maintenance

Plan to beautify your landscape with these tips for what to plant in and lawn maintenance measures! Excerpts are taken from http://edis. ifas.ufl.edu courtesy of University of Florida IFAS Extension.

What to Plant

Annuals/Bedding plants: Plants that perform better in the cooler months include petunia, pansy, verbena, dianthus, strawflower, and lobelia. Protect from frosts and freezing temperatures. Bulbs: Many bulbs can be planted now. Provide adequate water for establishment and protect from cold weather with mulch. Some examples include Amazon lily, crinum, and agapanthus. Azaleas: With azaleas in full bloom this month, now is a great time to select varieties to add to the landscape.

What to Do

Palms: Give cold-damaged palms proper care to encourage their recovery. Roses: Prune roses this month to remove damaged canes and improve the overall form. After pruning, fertilize and apply a fresh layer of mulch. Blooming will begin 8–9 weeks after pruning. Shrubs: Fertilize shrubs by spreading fertilizer evenly over the soil surface and watering it in. Follow with a fresh layer of mulch to conserve moisture and reduce weeds. Lawn: Apply a preemergence weed killer (not a "weed and feed") to lawns this month to prevent germination of warm-season weed seeds. Apply when temperatures rise to 65°F for 4–5 days. Timing is important for good control.
