Somerville Manning Gallery is pleased to announce the American Masters – Art of the 20th – 21st Centuries exhibition on view from March 27 – May 9, 2020. An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 27 from 5:30 -7:30 p.m.
For over 30 years Somerville Manning Gallery has specialized in paintings by the Wyeth family. The American Masters exhibition continues to follow the artworks of N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth and the artists of their eras; analyzing their context through the timeline. The exhibition includes works from many important American schools and traditions that transition from realism to abstraction and 20th century to contemporary.
Along with paintings by illustrators N.C. Wyeth and Frank Earle Schoonover, will be works by Abstract Impressionists Helen Frankenthaler, Jasper Johns, Arshile Gorky and Al Held. Modernist and abstract paintings by Oscar Bluemner and Red Grooms are also included. A highlight of the exhibition is a drawing by American icon Norman Rockwell.
