tHE QUARTERS DOWNTOWN PHASE i Edmonton AB. 2013. Urban, Urban Design. KEY DESIGN FEATURES urban planning; urban design; street furniture design. The project translates MTA’s/Broadway Malyan’s Armature Urban Planning Vision into reality – revitalizing 96th street in east downtown Edmonton into a vibrant urban environment. This major urban renewal includes infrastructure replacement, urban design, streetscape, roadway redesign, landscape and furniture design plus 4 season programming of open space uses. The Plan will incorporate Enmax’s district heating network, exercising LID (Low Impact Development) measures + programming resulting in a vibrant public realm. MTA as part of its commitment to innovation and value added approach is rethinking standard public infrastructure such as street lights to not only carry all the standard functions but also be sculptural, responsive and interactive pieces contributing to the public realm experience and place making intentions. MTA in collaboration with ISL Engineers is responsible to lead this project from conceptual design to construction completion.
