High Caliber Female Sale

Open House October 23th & 24th Bids close at dusk on Wednesday October 27th and finalized October 28th Board Bid Off Sale

Fellow Cattle Enthusiast, Thank you for taking the time to view this catalog. It is and will continue to be our goal to produce cattle that will be extremely competitive for our juniors but more importantly be outstanding breeding pieces after the show. This offering certainly meets those stasndards. Oh what a difference a year can make. In the past 365 days we have been blessed with the opportunity to purchase some of the original farm that has been in Ramsey’s family since the late 1800’s. We were also fortunate to purchase a group of Red Angus from Wisconsin to help increase our cow numbers. With that being said we have been working very hard to have the best sale offering available. I think that this years offering are leaps and bounds ahead of any offering we have ever had, including when Ramsey and I sold cattle in Iowa. We have changed our sale format to a phone/board bid off. We will still be closing the sale in a timely manner to ensure our southern friends that the cattle will be in their hands in time for validation. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call Ramsey and me. Please join us October 23rd & 24th for our open house at our new farm location in Winchester, Kentucky. We would love for you to come and view the heifers. We are giving a $250 sale credit to anyone who comes to view the cattle and purchases them through our phone bid off. Bids will close at dusk on Wednesday the 27th with all the sale closing on Thursday, October 28th. Videos have been posted on our Facebook page as well as our website at www.smokingguncattleco.com or like us on the Smoking Gun Cattle Co Facebook page. We want to take this time to thank the High Caliber consignors for believing in our program. Veto Valley Farms, Barnes Family Cattle and Newcomb Cattle Farms. These operations alowed us to come into their herd and hand pick what we believe are their best females. We certainly appreciate how much they trust in us to promote their program. Ramsey, Cassie, Daniel & Hailey Johnson Ramsey: 859-213-0242 Cassie: 712-490-5397 Cattle will be available for viewing at 260 Morris Road Winchester, Ky 40391. If you are coming from I-64 take Exit 96 and go south off of the exit. Go left onto Veterans Memorial Parkway. Go to the third stoplight and turn left on 15/Ironworks Road. Approximately 1.4 miles turn left onto Morris Road and go about 1/4 of a mile. Our farm entrance is at the bottom of the hill on the left.

We feel this female’s potential is far beyond the show ring. She is unique in how she is built from the ground up. You will really appreciate the quality of hoof that she has along with how smooth her design is with all of the power she possesses. She is a daughter to the $26,000 A121 female that sold in the Damar dispersal. Her sire Brando needs no introduction. Just take a look at the females Weber Land & Cattle have sold in the last few years. Lot 1 is bred to grow and then fill out. She has just stared to slow down growing up and will continue to improve in that area. Don’t discount her because she is a little green. I hope you can see how much donor potential is in this package. If you are curious about her I would love for you to call Ramsey or Cassie and listen to what they have to say about her. This female will be a great investment for your future. This heifer is entered for NAILE. Offered with Barnes Family Cattle.

If you are looking for a heifer that will hold her own at the jackpots, this is the one. The Bojangle females have won a lot of purple but they have also developed into elite donors for some. Lot 2 has an impressive pedigree on the bottom too. The Blockanna 807 cow family has made its mark in Red Angus history books. If you like to study pedigrees this female’s dam is a maternal sister to SLGN Young Gun 109Y. Recently he produced the Reserve Champion Female Oklahoma Cattleman’s Conference. Bojangle’s list of success stories is too long to put it all on here, just ask us and we can fill you in. This heifer is entered for NAILE. Offered with Veto Valley Farms.

We do not need to say a lot about this female because she does all the talking for us. A maternal sister by blood to SLGN Stony’s Becca 4215. The dam who recently generated over $120,000 of revenue for Harmony Hill. Lot 3 reminds us a lot of Becca when we were getting her ready to sell. We believe this heifer has just as much cow power with a little extra depth of body. I would be surprised if this one does not pick up some purple during her show career. This heifer is entered for NAILE. Offered with Veto Valley Farms.

Lot 4 comes in a greener package but if you study her design you will see there is a lot of potential to come. Her dam, E706 is an ultra feminine cow that has a beautiful udder. She is one of four females that I purchased from Meado-West Farms after Bruce passed and I am very excited about the future they have in our program. Take a minute and look at all of the Red Angus power players on the top and bottom side of this pedigree. She has a great disposition and can be shown by kids of all ages. Do not overlook this one and the potential that is yet to be unlocked. She will compete at state level and if taken care of she could look pretty amazing by Kansas City time.

Lot 5 is the first female to ever sell in our sale that is out of an SGCC bred cow. Being in the cattle industry is not for the impatient kind. This heifer has been a project in the making for four years. We came to Kentucky with only two head from our original Iowa herd. One of them was a black recip cow carrying an Evolution x Emily calf. We calved her out, sold half interest in her on our first High Caliber Female Sale and started planning matings. The maternal line in this female is near perfect. Emily 5191 was a no miss cow that produced some outstanding calves suitable for the commercial cattleman and the show ring. Lot 5 is that female that has been a standout since the day she was born. This is the female you buy to win some purple banners and take home to start building a program around. She has the design, function and disposition that you want all wrapped up in a beautiful package. I can keep going on about this female but if you want more info just give Ramsey or Cassie a call. We have plenty of Snapchat videos to share of her if you don’t believe us. This heifer is entered in NAILE. Offered with Henry Greves.

This summer we had the opportunity to purchase a Red Angus herd from Jean Amundson of Elk Mound, WI. Jean had a good eye for quality cattle and we are excited to see what the future holds for this group. Lot 6, 7 & 8 all came with this group of cows. Lot 6 walked into the picture pen and stopped for the perfect pose within 30 seconds. She is easy on the eyes and hasn’t reached her full potential yet. Lot 6 is out of a whale of a cow and possesses the capacity, easy keeping and gentle characteristics of her dam. She would be a great female for a beginner because of her attitude and also because she is going to be a great producing female in a few years. This heifer is entered for NAILE.

Lot 7 has always been one to catch our eye in the pasture. She is ultra feminine and has the profile that will always catch your eye. Her dam is one the top 3 favorite females that came out of Wisconsin. The dam, Daisy, is moderate framed but overwhelms you with how well balanced she is. You really can’t pick a hole in her. The maternal grandam is unique in her pedigree. She is a half sib to the Lazy MC Smash bull being out of the very popular Canadian cow, Diona. Daphne is another female that has proven genetics backing her up. She is the kind that you know no matter how she performs in the ring she is really going to shine when she is in production. We think she will be good for any junior. This heifer is entered for NAILE.

Lot 8 is a very unique female. The way she is desinged in the angles to her skeleton is impeccable. She is unique in how well her head ties into her neck and how flawless her neck meets her shoulder. This heifer is certainly a different kind of Red Angus than what we are use to seeing. Her pedigree is stacked with outstanding dams on the top and bottom. While Ramsey was gone torching cattle in Montana, Tanya and Cassie did not see eye to eye much. Tanya is broke to tie and is not broke and ready to show like the rest of our females in the sale. She will require patience and perseverance to get her broke to show.

Lot 9 is as gentle as they come. She has a personality that would fit any junior. This heifer came from a flush purchased from Zerr Red Angus in Kansas. Her dam, Yes I Am, produced 4 natural calves in her first 4 years in production that all brought over $10,000. She was an outstanding cow that could be mated to almost anything and you would be guaranteed to get a very marketable animal. Lot 9 would be great for a beginner showman looking to have a great experience while getting their feet wet. Be sure to message Ramsey or myself to get updated pictures of this one as she is always changing. Offered with Newcomb Farms Cattle.

When this Young Gun daughter came off of the trailer from Wisconsin we knew we had found our pot of gold. There are not a lot of Young Gun daughters in this country but the ones that I know of are all winning banners themselves or with their progeny. What I really love about this female is that on the top and bottom she has the two Canadian bulls that my dad and I purchased in 2009. Lot 10 is big footed, super sound, loaded with mass and muscle. There are an unlimited number of ways to mate this one. I don’t think you could find the wrong bull to flush her to.This is a one time deal that we will be offering the right to one Vytelle flush with a guarantee of 6 fertilized embryos and all fertilized embryos above 10 being split with buyer. We will take her to Greenhorn Cattle in Ohio to have the flush performed. Buyer pays for the flushing cost. For more information please give Ramsey or Cassie a call.

This pedigree has champion written all over it. The American Beauty cow is absolutely one of the most impressive females we have ever produced. She was sold as a calf to a Simmental operation in Nebraska but we were fortunate enough to purchase her back two years ago. We feel that the King of the Cowboys bull is going to be a no miss mating and are excited to offer it to you. American Beauty is a maternal sister to Drama Queen who was the Reserve Champion Female at the NAJRAE in 2017 and now she is producing calves that are getting to the backdrop. Take a close look at this lot and consider the income potential you could have with just one calf from this mating. Selling 3 embryos with the guarantee of 1 pregnancy if implanted by a certified embryologist.

Ravishing Ginger 521 aka “Cat” got her name because of her athleticism and structural correctness. While working on her in the barn Ramsey started calling her Cat and it stuck. Makayla Williams showed Cat and was undefeated division champion as a calf and went on to be the 2013 NAJRAE Reserve Champion Futurity Heifer. While in production her daughters sold have averaged $7500 and her sons $4000. Don’t worry about this one being able to generate revenue for you. Cat is still in production at a young 10 years of age. We look forward to having more Cat babies in our offering in the upcoming sales.
