In addition to gravity thickening biosolids in the traditional manner Unison 400 Series Thickeners may be fitted with the patented Dual Mode system. This presses a selected proportion of the biosolids load and allows the dry solids content of the thickened biosolids to be simply adjusted (typically in the range 5% to 10%) to meet specific requirements.

These presses have a large gravity drainage area, equivalent to a belt thickener, and can effectively dewater thinner biosolids without the requirement for costly prethickening. These presses also have a unique roller layout incorporating a parabolic wedge zone which optimises the pressure versus time relationship for best dewatering results.
