ACHIEVEMENTS SUCCESSFULLY WORKED WITH THE UNIVERSITY TO RELOCATE OUR STUDENT FACING SERVICES INTO A PRIME CENTRAL CAMPUS POSITION.

HOSTED A “REFRESHING FARM” ON CAMPUS TO REDUCE STRESS & INCREASE STUDENT WELLBEING.

HOSTED THE SOUTHERN STUDENTS’ UNIONS REGIONAL CONFERENCE. INTRODUCED A TIERED RECOGNITION SCHEME FOR SOCIETIES “THE SOLENT SCHEME” TO SUPPORT THEIR DEVELOPMENT & LEVELS OF ENGAGEMENT & INTRODUCED THE “SOCIETY OF THE MONTH”. DEVELOPED A STRATEGY TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF HOW THE UNION REPRESENTS STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC INTERESTS RESULTING IN AN INCREASE IN THE NATIONAL STUDENT SURVEY RESPONSE.


ACHIEVEMENTS HELD A SUCCESSFUL REFERENDUM TO INCREASE OUR STUDENT OFFICER POSITIONS FROM 11 TO 22 TO ENSURE ALL STUDENTS FELT EFFECTIVELY REPRESENTED. REVIEWED THE TRAINING & SUPPORT FOR ACADEMIC REPS RESULTING IN THREE TIMES THE NUMBER OF REPS BEING TRAINED THIS YEAR. INTRODUCED A TERMLY “PULSE” MAGAZINE AND MONTHLY NEWSLETTER “BEAT” TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF THE UNION ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES. RING FENCED £25K OR RESERVES & SUBSEQUENTLY INVESTED £9K OF RESERVES INTO A NEW SUSTAINABILITY & INVESTMENT GRANT FUND FOR SOCIETIES; ENSURED THERE WAS MEANINGFUL STUDENT CONSULTATION AND INPUT INTO THE UNIVERSITY ACCESS & PARTICIPATION PLAN.


ACHIEVEMENTS THE SAFE SOLENT TRIAL PROVIDED 3,413 TAXI JOURNEYS FOR 3,694 STUDENTS ENSURING THEY RETURNED HOME SAFELY FROM LATE NIGHT STUDY AT THE LIBRARY.

SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVED THE NUS QUALITY STUDENTS’ UNION AWARD

SUCCESSFULLY NEGOTIATED WITH THE UNIVERSITY TO REFURBISH THE COUNSELLING SERVICE WAITING ROOM.

SUPPORTED THE UNIVERSITY IN THE SUBJECT LEVEL TEF PILOT BY PROVIDING THE STUDENT SUBMISSIONS.

PROPOSED THE UNIVERSITY ADOPT THE TRANS+ POLICY WRITTEN BY OUR TRANS+ STUDENT OFFICER WHICH IS CURRENTLY BEING CONSIDERED IN THE UNIVERSITY FORMAL COMMITTEES.
