Composition I think too many Photoshop layers make the drawing process difficult, giving an artificial appearance to the painting. In this scene I worked with three main layers (Fig.04): the building close-up on the right (red), the medium distanced houses that border the alley (blue) and the background with buildings in the distance (yellow). It was a good decision to create the layers depending on the depth in the scene because I could easily control the color saturation and brightness of each layer to simulate the effect of distance.

I used the color and composition to keep a general vision of the image, and I painted the entire image with a small range of colors (Fig.05). The afternoon sunlight coats the building surfaces with reddish and golden tones. The horizon line is located approximately in the lower third of the height of the buildings (that is, if the observer is Fig.03d
