SIDM delivers its Mission through key pillars of People, Practice and Policy. SIDM’s partners represent over 150,000 clinicians, currently reaching over 50,000,000 patients through their services delivery.

Pillars
Three foundational Pillars represent the essence of SIDM. They are the way we know we are making the best contributions toward our Mission.
People:
Through the Patient Engagement Strategy, SIDM membership helps clinicians to improve patient care by providing clinicians access to: Institutional Partners (The Coalition) represent leading institutions of care, voluntary health services, patient membership organizations and mission-aligned partners. SIDM supports novel proofs-of-concepts and recognizes innovation in research, practice and policy aimed at reducing patient harm and improving patient safety and care.
Education and Outreach : SIDM convenes an annual Conference attended by over 500 participants representing patients, clinicians, policymakers and other interested stakeholders committed to improving diagnosis in medicine. Topics include the voices of patients, technology, safety, quality and policy. In 2022, SIDM will launch inaugural regional education programs that will bring together patients and care providers committed to improving diagnosis in medicine. Other outreach strategies include newsletters, webinars and fact sheets that feature key practices, policies and innovations focused on improving diagnosis in medicine.

SIDM Our practice is grounded in evidenced-based programs rich in education and experience through the research and collaboration of our: SIDM’s Seed Program – Grants we award to others research into Improved Diagnosis SIDM’s Scholars Fellowships – Scholarly awards we present to Fellows who further the field of Improved Diagnosis Quality Improvement Repository

SIDM’s first 10 years have been successful, and we are proud of our accomplishments. To stay relevant, organizations need to evolve with the needs of their constituent base. Our Strategic Direction for the next 5 years is to: Grow SIDM to a $30M organization in support of our Vision, Mission and Goals Continue to improve our Operational Excellence model Seek and employ new and better ways to leverage the Private Sector, and Technology, in improvements to diagnosis in medicine

We are very proud to have earned a GuideStar Gold Star, awarded only to nonprofit organizations that achieve their missions with an administrative overhead of 20% or less per year.
