we are still only allowed 33% occupancy with six-feet distancing between seats. We have already redone our entire HVAC system so that the airflow is at maximum capacity. In addition, we have installed 37 hand sanitizing units, and we will require that people show proof of vaccination. Masks will be required throughout the entire performance. No food or drink will be allowed in the theater. It sounds like a lot, but this is the only way to make people feel comfortable and ensure the greatest safety for our staff, audience, actors, stage hands, volunteers and anyone who sets foot inside our theater. Are you doing anything differently with your programming? We are starting slowly so that we don’t have any major incidents. That means we are beginning with a wonderful onewoman play called Becoming Dr. Ruth, starring Tovah Feldshuh. ments. These will be immersive projections with live performance intermingled. This will allow us to bring in some new talent who have not been seen before at Bay Street Theater. Beyond that we are hoping to produce an August production of Camelot outdoors. Stay tuned for more on that! Is there anything else you’d like to mention? Yes, this year is Bay Street’s 30th anniversary season! Of course we can’t celebrate with one large gala this year. Instead, we will have small intimate dinners with special guests and performances at different people’s homes.
