BFIRST hosts first charity ball at Church House Westminster Comedian Jo Caulfield hosted a masked charity ball at Church House Westminster last week (Thursday November 24) which raised funds for medical training abroad. The inaugural annual ball was organised by the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) to celebrate its 70th anniversary and raise money for the work of the British Foundation for International Reconstructive Surgery and Training (BFIRST).

BFIRST is a charity where volunteer plastic surgeons train surgeons in resource poor countries in reconstructive surgery for burns, trauma and birth defects so they can treat their own patients without help from abroad. By working closely with BAPRAS and its members, BFIRST can draw on the large and diverse skills of the membership of the parent association (HTTPS://WWW.CHOOSEYOURVENUE.COM/NOTEPAD) to carry out its work. As part of the evening’s theme, organisers produced hand painted masks made especially for 0 the ball – each with a unique design with feathers and jewels with all donations from the sale going to the charity. Combined with an auction held on the night, with many exciting items, the charity hoping to raise £25,000 – an amazing total from the 250 guests attending. The Event Photography Awards, the Awards dedicated to finding the images which best capture the passion, excitement and emotion of live events, have •

-        Mark Riches, Founder and Director, FIRST -        Matt Storey, Group Director, The Gallowglass Group -        Nick de Bois, Chairman, UK Events Industry Board -        Philip Atkins, Managing Director, Off to Work -        Richard Dodgson, Timebased Events -        Rick Stainton, Managing Director, Smyle -        Robin Parker, General Manager, Church House Westminster -        Stuart Cain, Managing Director, Commercial Marketing, NEC Group -        Stuart Jenkins, Managing Director, MJT Holdings Ltd -        Toby Heelis, Co-Founder, Eventopedia -        Toby Wand, Managing Director, Fresh Montgomery The judges have expressed their excitement to be involved in the 2017 awards and are looking forward to reviewing the best images capturing the event industry.   “Photography means to me: capturing the unique moments of life,” commented Johnny Roxburgh. “What makes a great photo: something which is special to the photographer and to which the viewer can relate. For this year’s awards I expect creativity, innovation and a connection between the heart, the head and the lens.”   Robin Parker said, “I am delighted to be involved with the judging of the awards this year. Photography is hugely important in my life, it captures those special moments and evokes incredible memories. The standard of the Event Photography Awards grows each year and my expectations for 2017 are very high. The range of events featured and the quality of the pictures just gets better and better.”   “It’s an honour to be asked to be part of the judging panel for this year’s awards to recognise some of the amazing imagery which captures some magical moments,” said Stuart Jenkins.
