INTRODUCTION

The future of our county and workforce depends on high-quality education; therefore, it is imperative we have effective communication between schools, businesses and the community. The aforementioned ensures we are bridging the gaps and preparing Bibb County School District students for the emerging workforce or post-secondary pathways. The purpose of this survey was to collect and analyze data from local businesses. The results will provide us with information to ensure we are meeting the needs of industry through our Business and Computer Science programs. This report is a review of data collected from a 10-question survey taken by 127 local industry personnel.

IMPLICATIONS Currently, education is going through a major transformation in the 21st century and along with it Career, Technical and Agricultural Education will flourish as an educational platform to ensure that all students are College and Career ready after high school graduation. This Industry Assessment Survey revealed the following implications: 1. Software in all Business and Computer Science (BCS) labs will be upgraded to Office 2010 this school year. 2. Business and Computer Science (BCS) instructors will participate in the GeorgiaBEST (Business Ethics Student Training) pilot program this school year to hone our students’ soft skills. 3. Business and Computer Science (BCS) instructors will implement the Microsoft IT Academy program this school year. The program will create stackable information technology credentials for all BSC students.
