CONNEC T I N G AT SMOK E R I SE BECKY CASWELL-SPEIGHT - MINISTER TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN Thank you, Ms. Deborah, for stepping in and doing an amazing job as the interim Weekday School Director this summer. You stepped in when we needed you most and you made miracles happen. We are thankful for all your hard work and dedication, and for reminding the entire church of the ministry that we provide every time our school doors are open. We look forward to following the promising path that you and your staff laid this summer. The preschool children of our community will grow and learn this year and for many years to come because of your dedication.

It is time to start preparing for Octoberfest, our largest community outreach event of the year. We need volunteers to sell tickets, greet, run bounce houses and games. Octoberfest is October 24th from 5-7pm. We will need help from set-up to clean-up.

Shine Club at Smoke Rise Elementary begins this month. This semester Shine will run from September 12th through October 17th. We will meet at the elementary school from 2-4pm. If you are interested in volunteering with some exceptional students, contact Harrison at hlitzell@ smokerisebaptist.org. He will get you ready to turn the world around us upside down.

If you can give one hour or several contact Debbie Scott at debbie@debbiescott.com to volunteer. On Wednesday October 24th, come to the Smoke Rise Baptist Church ball-field for a night of outdoor fun for all ages! Eat dinner and listen to the band. Come and play the many free games and activities. Remember to wear your costumes and visit the animals at the petting zoo! We’ll end the evening with a costume parade and drawings for fun Octoberfest prizes. This will be a great way to share God’s love with our neighbors. But first, they need to know about it, and that is where we need your help! So be sure to bring yourself, your friends and your whole family on October 24th at 5pm. It will be so much fun that nobody is going to want to miss out! Meal tickets are now on sale in the fellowship hall on Wednesday evenings and near the narthex and office on Sunday mornings: $3 for child plates; $5 for adult plates; $15 max family cost. Dinner Menu: BBQ, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, chips, salad and dessert.
