INT. MANSION HALLWAY - NIGHT

1

INNA, ANDREI, and a GROUP OF HITMEN split up and go down different hallways. Inna and Andrei creep down a dimly lit hallway towards arguing voices. Inna waits outside a large set of dark doors, as the voices get louder. A voice is heard over the rest. STANISLAV (O.C.) No! You will listen to me! (slams hands) Inna closes her eyes. INNA (O.S.) You’re joking right? 2

INT. OFFICE - DUSK

There is a blood-red office decorated with dark woods and trophy heads. A man, STANISLAV, is arguing with Inna who is sitting in a chair. A handsome man, MAKS, is leaning against a wall in the back. INNA (CONT.) There’s no way I’m going to agree with this! STANISLAV You will respect this family with your obedience. Maksimillian will make a fine husband, far better than you deserve. MAKS (chuckles) INNA (stands) This isn’t your decision to make! Inna gets ready to leave the room, when Maks leans towards Inna and blocks the door with his arm. MAKS You and I both know that’s not the way it works. She glares at him and walks out of the room.

INT. MANSION HALLWAY - NIGHT

Inna is staring off into space. A muffled voice is heard, but the words are indistinct. Suddenly all the sound is clear. ANDREI -in their positions. (Checks watch) I’ll be lead, don’t forget to watch the rear. Andrei moves into position in front of the doors, preparing to kick them open. He hesitates and looks towards Inna. ANDREI Are you sure you’re ready for this, Inna? Inna stares at the gun in her left hand, while grasping her mother’s necklace with her right. She drops the necklace and shoves the cartridge into the gun, a fierce expression on her face, as she stands flattening herself next to the wall. INNA Yeah, let’s do this. Andrei nods, giving her a small smile. He kicks open the door, revealing a past event. 4

INT. INNA’S BEDROOM - NIGHT

Inna’s bedroom doors swing open revealing Maks, who walks into the charcoal gray room. Inna is sulking on top of her cream-colored princess bed, ignoring her new fiance. MAKS Stop being so dramatic Inna. It’s not like you’re a child anymore. Inna continues to ignore him, staring at her headboard. MAKS (CONT.) You live in your father’s house now, it’s time for you to do something useful. (sits on bed) Everyone has a role in the business, this will make us stronger.

As he speaks, his hand is slowly moving up her leg. Inna shoves his hand away. Enticed, Maks becomes bolder with his advances. He moves over her, placing his arms on either side of her head, trapping her. MAKS What’s wrong, darling? Aren’t you looking forward to our future together? Inna glares at him in defiance, and makes a swift move. Suddenly, Maks cries out in pain, and Inna shoves him off of her. He’s holding his package. Inna walks towards the door, but stops before she exits, turning back toward Maks. INNA Good luck with that future of yours, darling. She slams the door. 5

EXT. MANSION STEPS - MIDNIGHT

Inna throws a large duffle bag out her window, muffled by the snow. She is about to climb out, when she stops. She moves towards her bedside table and grabs a tarnished silver necklace. Now ready, Inna climbs out the window scaling the ivy covered wall. Inna grabs her duffle bag and runs towards the woods, keeping to the shadows. There is a single gunshot in the distance, but Inna is already far gone. 6

EXT. RUSSIAN INTERCITY - NIGHT

Montage of Inna living in the streets, steadily getting dirtier and losing hope. Inna sees a GROUP OF HOMELESS PEOPLE with food. She approaches them. INNA Where did you find that? A burly man, HOMELESS LEADER, steps forward blocking the food from Inna’s sight. HOMELESS LEADER Doesn’t matter, there isn’t enough for you.

Homeless people laugh at her, clutching their food closer to their bodies. Homeless leader spies Inna’s necklace peeking from out of her worn winter jacket as she’s retreating. HOMELESS LEADER But...We’ll give you a bite for that necklace. INNA What? (Grabs necklace) Can’t I just give you something else? HOMELESS LEADER No, it’s that or starving. You choose. INNA Forget it, I’ll just get food somewhere else. Inna walks out of the alley, as Homeless Leader takes a bite out of his loaf of bread. HOMELESS LEADER (yells) Suit yourself! 7

INT. CONDEMNED BUILDING - NIGHT

Inna makes sure no is watching her as she keeps an eye on the Group of Homeless People. She is on the second story of a condemned building across from the alleyway, watching them through a boarded up window. Once the Group of Homeless People settles in to sleep Inna sneaks back outside. 8

EXT. RUSSIAN INTERCITY - NIGHT

Carefully, she crosses the street into the alleyway. As she approaches the food, a dirty gnarled hand grabs her by the leg. The hand pulls and she falls. HOMELESS LEADER Oh, so what do we have here? Homeless Leader stands and pulls Inna up by her jacket collar. Her hood falls back and Homeless Leader sees her face. He bursts out laughing with contempt.

HOMELESS LEADER (CONT.) A little thief, are we? Inna struggles but Homeless Leader pulls her uncomfortably close. He reaches into her jacket, further than necessary, and pulls out her necklace. HOMELESS LEADER (CONT.) Last offer...or I can take something else... Inna spits in his face, and Homeless Leader throws her into the snow. He wipes his face with his tattered sleeve and approaches her threateningly. Inna scrambles backwards before running into a buried piece of plywood under the snow. She grabs it, and right when Homeless Leader is about to grab her she hits him across the face. As he falls, he tumbles into the barrel of fire, knocking it over. The noise wakes up the Group of Homeless People. They see Inna standing over an unconscious Homeless Leader. HOMELESS WOMAN What did you do?! (Turns to group) She killed him! The group starts to move closer to Inna. She wields her piece of plywood like a sword, fending off the enclosing mob. INNA Stay back! Right as the group is surrounding her, a flicker of light comes from the end of the alleyway. A man, LEO, is revealed lighting a cigarette. HOMELESS WOMAN turns towards him. HOMELESS WOMAN Get out of here! This isn’t any of your business. Leo takes a drag of his cigarette before putting it out in the snow. He calmly walks over to the mob, staying just outside of the group. LEO Do I know you? HOMELESS WOMAN What?

6. LEO Do I know you? HOMELESS WOMAN No...? LEO Then how do you know what is and what isn’t my business?

Homeless Woman is speechless as she comprehends what Leo just said. Leo is smirking at her, in a relaxed position, as he puts his hands in his pockets. Two massive HOMELESS MEN step forward threateningly. LEO I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Leo opens his jacket slightly to reveal a shiny silver gun on his right hip. The Homeless Men back up reluctantly. LEO (CONT.) Now, I want you to step away from the girl. (Group hesitates) These aren’t just for decoration. Leo steps forward and the mob starts to separate, revealing Inna still holding the plywood. He motions for her to follow him. Before she moves, Leo turns and begins to walk away. The mob turns back to Inna, staring her down, and Inna hurries after Leo. 9

EXT. ROADSIDE - NIGHT

Inna turns the corner and sees Leo lounging against the brick wall, smoking another cigarette. INNA You know, you didn’t have to do that. I was handling it on my own. LEO That’s what you consider handling the situation? Inna turns to leave, annoyed with Leo. After a couple steps she turns briskly and walks back. INNA Well, thanks anyway for back there...even though I was handling it. (CONTINUED)


CONTINUED:

7. LEO I wasn’t doing it for you. We need you in one piece. INNA We? LEO (pulls out business card) We have a job offer for youINNA I’m not interested, thanks. (pushes business card back towards Leo) LEO Alright, if this is how you want to live your life, I’m sure someone else will appreciate the offer.

Leo makes a motion with his hand and a luxury vehicle pulls up to the curb. Leo gets into the car and it starts to drive away. As the car is pulling away, Inna glances over at the Group of Homeless People. Making a decision she runs after the car, banging on the window. It stops and Leo rolls down his window halfway. INNA (gasping) What’s in this for me? LEO (smirks) Well, you’ll just have to wait and see. (Inna gets in the car) But trust me, it’ll be worth it. The car drives away. 10

INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT

The flashback ends, and Inna is in the dining room amidst a full-on battle. There are dead bodies littering the floor, a mix of obviously WEALTHY MEN and BODYGUARDS. Inna is fighting two Bodyguards as Andrei is behind her fending off three Bodyguards. They are getting overwhelmed. In the back of the room, Maks is seen escaping through a hidden door by Inna. She tries to manuever around the enemies but is intercepted by a WEALTHY MAN holding a gun.

WEALTHY MAN Well well, what a fine homecoming for our Little Inna. (Turns safety off) Too bad it has to end so soon. As Wealthy Man prepares to pull trigger, the dining room windows shatter and the Group of Hitmen rush into the room, swinging in on cable wires. Taken by surprise, Wealthy Man is knocked out by Inna, with one punch. Inna scans the room for Andrei, but he is nowhere to be seen. She notices Stanislav is also missing. She turns to a fellow HITMAN. INNA Where is Andrei? HITMAN He left right after Stanislav disappeared. Inna looks back and forth between the double doors and the hidden door. She takes a quick moment to contemplate, and her sight settles on the hidden door. INNA You got it covered here? HITMAN YeahINNA Okay, I’m taking on Maks. Inna sprints out of the room through the hidden door, shooting random enemies along the way. HITMAN (yells after her) Wait! Not by yourself(continues firing) 11

INT. COMPANY HEADQUARTERS - DAY

Inna is taken inside an extravagant estate by Leo. She is lead by Leo past groups of INDIVIDUALS walking the pristine hallways. They all glance at her as Inna walks by.

Leo escorts Inna into an office with little to no personal effects. There is a large window looking over a training arena, where TRAINEES are sparring. Leo moves to sit at his desk, and Inna sits down in a chair. Andrei stands unnoticed by the wall, with his hands in his pockets. LEO I’m sure you’re wondering what you’ve gotten into. INNA What do you even do here? (glances at the training area) Are you like secret agents for the government or something? LEO (smile slightly) What do you know about your father’s business? INNA All I know is that he’s a political advisor. I’ve only lived here about a year, and if you’re looking for information I don’t have any. LEO (chuckles) Inna, this is Andrei. Inna turns to find a well-built man leaning casually against the wall. Andrei nods his head towards Inna in acknowledgment. Confused, Inna turns back towards Leo. INNA What is this? LEO Andrei is going to be your trainer and mentor over the next couple months. INNA Wait, what am I training for? ANDREI We train to kill. Inna is startled by the sudden close proximity to Andrei as he has positioned himself immediately behind her. Andrei is looking down at her in a playfully intimidating fashion.

INNA Kill who? LEO Let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Inna has to prove herself in the arena first. 12

INT. HALLWAY- NIGHT

Inna runs down the hallway, overstepping a DEAD BODYGUARD, and hears the sudden clang of pots and pans. She backtracks, and heads down a hallway to the left towards the kitchen. 13

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

Inna slips through the door, and surveys the area. All is silent, and Inna crouches. She spies movement in the reflection of the oven door. Inna reloads her gun. At the sound of the cartridge clicking into place, Maks bolts through the back door. Inna springs up and runs after him. As she crosses the threshold, a metal pan is swung up into her hand, and the gun flies through the air, landing somewhere unseen. Inna retreats backwards into the kitchen. Maks emerges from behind the back door, and comes into the kitchen. MAKS (Laughs) Hello, darling! I honestly didn’t expect to see you again. Maks and Inna begin to circle each other, in a predatory way. INNA I just couldn’t stay away. MAKS Sorry, dear, but I’m afraid its too late for us. INNA (smirks) What a shame, I was so looking forward to our future together. MAKS Too bad, your future is about to be cut short.

Maks suddenly lunges at Inna, and she dodges to the side. 14

INT. TRAINING ARENA - DAY

Inna is throwing a punch at Andrei. Andrei smirks and blocks the punch. 15

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

Maks knocks Inna’s arm down,as he attempts an uppercut. Inna gasps as his blow connects. She doubles over, and Maks laughs. 16

INT. TRAINING ARENA - DAY

Inna is doubled over, and Andrei laughs spitefully. ANDREI Come on, come at me again! Inna glares, with her face hidden by her hair. She surprises him with a swift side kick. 17

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

Inna’s kick hits Maks solidly in his ribs. Inna immediately follows up with a front kick, knocking Maks back into a counter. Maks grabs a butcher knife from behind him, and lunges forward. 18

INT. TRAINING ARENA - DAY

Andrei throws a baton to Inna. ANDREI Now you’re gonna learn to fight with weapons. It’s not always going to be hand-to-hand. Without warning he attacks, swinging the baton overhead. She haphazardly blocks his strike and loses her composure.

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

Maks is swinging his knife expertly, as Inna tries to dodge. She gets knicked with the knife on her cheek. MAKS You’ll have to be faster than that, darling. Inna glares at Maks. 20

INT. TRAINING ARENA - DAY

Inna is glaring at Andrei, as he removes his baton from her throat. ANDREI You’re obviously not an expert at fighting with weapons. So you need to practice disarming your opponent. Inna moves into position a few feet from Andrei. He attacks without notice. Inna grabs his wrist. 21

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

Inna twists Maks’ wrist towards his body. He releases the knife. 22

INT. TRAINING ARENA - DAY

Inna holds Andrei’s baton, and manuevers herself behind him, holding the baton around his throat. They are both sweating and gasping for breath. ANDREI Good work. I’m a dead man. Inna smiles. 23

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

Inna holds Maks’ knife to his throat as she stands behind him, both out of breath. Maks flips her over his back. Inna lands on her back, and cries out in pain and anger. She sees the gun hidden under the counter.

MAKS I’ve always wanted to see you on your back. Inna yells in anger. She throws the knife at Maks, but he dodges it just barely. When he turns back towards Inna she is on her feet holding the gun with one hand. Maks smirks and opens his mouth to speak. Inna shoots him in the head. Inna walks over to his body, crouching next to him. INNA I’ve always wanted to see you on your back. Inna pats him on the cheek, and walks out of the kitchen. 24

INT. MANSION HALLWAY - NIGHT

Inna creeps down the corridors, holding her gun close to her body. Inna freezes for a moment as she spots her father’s office. With a deep breath she silently approaches the office doors, and peers through a crack in the doors. 25

INT. OFFICE - NIGHT

Andrei is kneeling on the ground with two bodyguards holding his arms. Stanislav is standing over him with a gun to Andrei’s head. Stanislav is disheveled and covered in small injuries. The room is clearly the location of a recent fight. Andrei has a black eye, bloody lip, and slightly torn clothing. He is glaring at Stanislav with obvious hate. STANISLAV Did you really think you could come into my house and get away unscathed? Or did you think because you brought my daughter I’d show some pity? Andrei remains silent. STANISLAV (CONT.) I think we both know I have no pity for anyone. Especially those who wrong me.

ANDREI Like your wife? Stanislav strikes Andrei across the face with the side of his gun. Andrei smirks and spits out blood on Stanislav’s shoes. STANISLAV You think you’re clever, don’t you? You know nothing about my wife. 26

Inna clutches her necklace, staring at it. 27

INT. COMPANY HEADQUARTERS - DAY

Inna is walking down a empty hallway. She hears voices arguing from withing Leo’s office. She decides to investigate. When Inna is right outside the door, the voices become clear. ANDREI (O.C.) -not ready. She needs to be more prepared for something like this. LEO (O.C.) There’s no more time for preparation. It’s now or never, the date is set. ANDREI (O.C.) What makes you think she’ll agree to this? She doesn’t know anything about the truth. LEO (O.C.) Inna Bershkerov is the key to this whole operation. You don’t give her enough credit. Inna glances around the hallway at her name. She leans closer to the door, even more attentive now. LEO (O.C.) (CONT.) We need the information she has on the layout of the house. And maybe her presence will catch Stanislav off guard. (CONTINUED)

Inna gasps, but quickly covers her mouth to prevent them from hearing her. ANDREI (O.C.) (raises voice) We won’t use her like that! Pinning her against her own father! LEO (O.C.) We have to be willing to use whatever it takes to take down one of the most dangerous men in Russia. Inna, unable to hear anymore, runs down the hallway and out the front doors. Andrei opens the office door and sees Inna running away. He chases after her. ANDREI Inna! 28

EXT. COMPANY HEADQUARTERS - DAY

Inna is huddled over, sitting on the front steps. Andrei approaches her cautiously and sits down beside her. She ignores him, resting her head on her knees. It is silent for a few moments. INNA How much have you not told me? ANDREI Do you want the whole story? INNA Is it bad? Andrei stares at her for a second, before turning away and looking out. INNA (sighs) Just tell me. ANDREI Inna, your father isn’t just a political advisor... he’s not a good man. INNA I never thought he was.

ANDREI He is the head of the largest mafia syndicate in Russia. Inna stares at him in disbelief. ANDREI Your father is the cause of countless deaths, mostly individuals who are involved in what he considers "disagreeable politics". INNA Mostly? ANDREI Casualties are a norm when dealing with Black Market weapon exchanges. But he’s also known to get revenge on those who personally wrong him. He is capable of hurting anyone(pauses and looks Inna in the eye) -even those closest to him. INNA What are you trying to tell me? ANDREI Inna, how did your mother die? INNA (plays with necklace) She was mugged and killed back in New York when I was 13. They said it was a random attack. ANDREI Inna, your mother wasn’t killed in a random mugging. Your father put out a hit on her when he found out she was having an affair. INNA No! That’sANDREI Leo and your father used to be associates in the mafia. Leo was his right hand man, the one that would recruit the muscle for priority hits. But when he heard (MORE) (CONTINUED)

ANDREI (cont’d) your mother was the next target, he had enough. He tried to get out and warn your mother. INNA Why would Leo do that? ANDREI Leo never agreed with killing innocents. His work is purely business, never personal. But your father crossed that line. Inna starts to sob, and Andrei puts his arm her pulling her close to comfort her. She is clutching her necklace. ANDREI This is your chance to avenge your mother, and finally be free. A man like your father should not have that much power, you know this. INNA I’ll help. ANDREI Are you sure you can do this? INNA I’m ready. 29

INT. HALLWAY - NIGHT

Inna stands up, tucking her gun away in close reach, while she takes out two daggers. Her face is full of determination, as she hears a gun click from behind the doors. 30

INT. OFFICE - NIGHT The two her gun

doors burst open, and the two bodyguards fall over dead, gleaming daggers in their backs. Swiftly, Inna takes out own gun and points it at Stanislav. Stanislav keeps his on Andrei while focusing on Inna. STANISLAV Oh, my lovely daughter returns to save the day.

INNA You killed her. STANISLAV Who? INNA My mother! STANISLAV Now Inna let’s not be overdramaticInna shoots at the ground in front of Stanislav. He gets angry. INNA Don’t lie to me anymore! You killed her! STANISLAV You want the truth? It was nothing she didn’t deserve. It’s a shame you’re going to go the same way. Stanislav turns and points his gun at Inna as she steadies her own gun. Suddenly a gun shot rings out, and Stanislav falls to the floor. Andrei is holding a smoking gun,staring at Stanislav with hate. Inna is frozen in place, when she drops her gun, and starts to cry. Andrei gets up and wraps his arms around Inna, as she cries into him. 31

INT. TRAIN - DAWN

Andrei and Inna are sitting side by side on a train. She is sleeping with her head resting on Andrei’s shoulder. Andrei is gazing out the window at the passing countryside.
