Directors Message As the Recreation Director for the City of Smithfield for the past nine and a half years I have come to appreciate the wonderful community spirit found here. I have been impressed by the tremendous support the residents have given for the many programs and events that our department offers. Thank you! I am also grateful for past and present city leaders, mayors and city councils along with fellow staff members who realize the importance of parks and recreation, and its impact on quality of life. Smithfield is a community committed to quality living. This commitment has created the City’s extensive park and recreation system that offers a wonderful network of community and neighborhood parks, recreational facilities, open spaces, trails, and year round activities. I firmly believe that on a per capita basis we have some of the finest facilities and programs to be found anywhere. It is with excitement that we issue this year’s Parks and Recreation Program Guide. Never before has our department offered so many programs. The success of the recreation center and the programs offered has been astounding. We continue to grow even through a very challenging economy. With the completion of Forrester Acres, and improvements that are being made to the Armory building, we stand in great position to meet the recreation and leisure needs of our community for years to come. Please refer to this guide often to stay abreast of our current offerings. We also have a newly designed web page, smithfieldrecreation.com which contains a wealth of information and makes it convenient to register for a variety of leagues and programs. Let us continue to make Smithfield “Utah’s Health City.” I Hope to see you at one of our parks, recreational facilities, or community events. Brett Daniels, CPRP Recreation Director
