In this book, the Swiss-Guard-turned-CEO gives a personal witness to the successful application of the Pope’s leadership virtues and offers the same to other CEOs and all of his readers. The book is thus an excellent tribute to the memory of the Pope and a commendable guide to successful entrepreneurship.” —Cardinal Peter Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace

Faith of Our Fathers Why the Early Christians Still Matter and Always Will Mike Aquilina Getting to know the Church Fathers means getting to know our own roots. It means knowing more deeply who we are as we learn more and more about who they are. The early Christians are our ancestors, our common genealogy, our family. When we look to our roots, what do we see? That’s what Mike Aquilina shows you in this book. The Fathers managed to pull off an amazing achievement. They converted the pagan world in a mere two and a half centuries. They did it without any resources, without any social or political power. They did it with the most primitive communications media. Yet their Church sustained a steady growth rate of 40 percent per decade over the course of those centuries. Maybe there’s something we can learn from them. This book is a journey into that world, a tour where your guides are the Fathers. 978-1-937155-87-2 144 pages, $11.95, paperback

Mike Aquilina shows us in detail how the Fathers ran with the Gospel, to our eternal benefit. They taught the faith with extraordinary wisdom and insight—and a superb sense of how the truths they were teaching worked in real life. —David Mills, executive editor, First Things Mike Aquilina has staked a pretty good claim to being the unofficial family historian of the Catholic Church. In these vivid essays he brings us face to face with our Fathers, and they show us who we are. —David Scott, author of The Catholic Passion

Mike Aquilina

Mike Aquilina is author or editor of more than forty books on Catholic history, doctrine, and devotion. He is co-host, with Scott Hahn, of eight series that air on EWTN. For many years he also appeared as a regular panelist on “The Weekly Roman Observer,” broadcast by Catholic Familyland Network. He is a frequent guest on Catholic radio and appears weekly on EWTN’s “Sonrise Morning Show.” Mike’s career in publishing spans three decades, and hundreds of his articles have appeared in periodicals and journals in the United States and abroad.

Infinite Bandwidth

Encountering Christ in the Media Eugene Gan Foreword by Fr. Mitch Pacwa, S.J.

Franciscan University of Steubenville Professor Eugene Gan navigates you faithfully through the digital world, encouraging frustrated parents not to throw out cell phones, ban the Internet, chuck computers, or pitch portable media devices. That would be a mistake and—believe it or not—would be going against more than seven decades of Catholic teaching. From Church documents on social communications, Gan extracts seven principles or “media keys” of how to approach and use media. The Church—and Gan— say that we must enter into the modern day “Areopagus,” the social and intellectual hub of ancient Athens where Paul preached to pagans, and use the media tools God has given us to make truth known and serve mankind.

The Sacred Conversation

The Art of Catholic Preaching and the New Evangelization Father Joseph Mele

Are you starving for inspiring homilies? Did you know that poor preaching is one of the top three reasons people leave the Church? And that it’s the reason many Catholics don’t come to Mass? There is a preaching problem in the Catholic Church—a serious problem. Parishioners know it, priests know it, and bishops know it. It’s an old story that just doesn’t seem to change . . . until now! The Sacred Conversation skillfully answers the question on many Catholic minds: Why can’t priests preach? Father Joseph Mele gives a first-rate analysis of and a resolution to what it will take to form priests who can preach effectively to the Church today. Catholic homilies are not Protestant sermons. Learn the difference and become a fruitful homilist! Includes a Foreword by Cardinal Donald Wuerl.

Each unit concludes with real life applications—challenging the student to live the demands of the Gospel. Each volume contains an appendix that gives responses to the discussion questions, assisting both instructor and student to focus on the Catholic understanding of each topic. A coherent, forceful, and compelling case for God and the Church founded by Jesus of Nazareth. This is a remarkable achievement of solid, factual, information that is loaded with ammunition for the new evangelization. Contains colorful vignettes of historic moments alternating with sustained argument. Marks challenges the reader to set aside long-held assumptions and prejudices. Jesus is the only one who proclaimed himself sinless and the only one who ever claimed to be God. His followers converted an entire empire without resort to violence, and after winning Rome they not only gave the world its calendar but transformed pagan culture beyond recognition. These hard, cold facts are presented here with copious notes for easy identification of persons, events, or doctrines that may be unfamiliar. The reader will also find a detailed index and useful appendices. 978-1-937155-37-7 242 pages, $15.95, paperback

“A home run . . .”

Father Ian Ker Does Catholicism make sense? Mere Catholicism answers with a resounding Yes! Father Ian Ker sets forth the fundamentals of Catholicism in a straight-forward and reasoned approach. It is the logical progression from “mere Christianity.” Catholicism is the answer for this world and the next. 978-1-931018-39-5 224 pages, $14.95, paperback “Dr. Ker’s brilliant, highly readable book . . . is indispensable, not only for those who are approaching Christianity and need guidance but also for Catholics who take their own faith for granted but could not coherently explain their beliefs to unbelieving friends. No other concise survey of the Catholic faith approaches it for clarity, for completeness, or for intellectual range.” —William Oddie Author of What Will Happen to God? Getting the Marriage Conversation Right A Guide for Effective Dialogue William B. May

Build Your House Upon Rock

A Bible Study for Catholics Preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage Nancy Humes

Getting the Marriage Conversation Right: A Guide for Effective Dialogue teaches you how to promote and defend traditional marriage in nonreligious terms. It’s a great “how to” guide to answer those tough questions you’ve struggled with. Author William B. May shows you how to navigate the pitfalls and avoid making this a homosexual vs. Christian issue. May brings into the legal definition of marriage the rights of children, and provides sensible guidelines on how to avoid common traps that hinder communications for advocating public policy about marriage. Getting the Marriage Conversation Right includes a substantial section of FAQs at the heart of the conflict. Marriage is the only institution that unites kids with their moms and dads, and that has been recognized by every culture, society, and religion, each according to their own competencies.

Build Your House Upon Rock shows how a happy and holy marriage demands more than attraction or affection. It demands God’s expectations—high expectations! This Bible study lays out a formula for a great Catholic marriage rooted in God. You’ll learn what God says a good marriage requires. You’ll get challenged to reflect on your own ideas of marriage, faith, and virtue. You’ll uncover the hopes and fears that can help and hinder your marriage. You’ll discover how marriage is a vocation, a path to holiness, a path to God. You’ll prepare to receive grace, courage, and determination to live this most sacred commitment. You’ll be a model for individuals and couples discerning or preparing for marriage, and married couples looking to enrich their marriage. You’ll meet God’s high expectations for marriage—and the rewards that come along with them!

Vol. 3: The Hermeneutic of Continuity

Christ, Kingdom, and Creation

Clement of Rome’s First Epistle to the Corinthians is a supremely valuable historical document. It is one of the very few Christian texts that have survived from the first century. Msgr. He was not the first scholar to argue for an early date, but he was the first to undertake a thorough study of the matter. 978-1-931018-47-0 136 pages, $12.00, paperback

Catechesis

The Legacy of Pope John Paul II The Central Teaching of His 14 Encyclical Letters Alan Schreck

The encyclical letter has been, in modern times, the instrument for popes to express their most important teaching—teachings that have lasting value for the Church, and often for the whole world. Dr. Schreck invites the reader to become familiar with the encyclical letters of Pope John Paul II. In The Legacy of Pope John Paul II, Dr. Schreck breaks down more scholarly writing into accessible language. The reflection questions and suggestions for further reading at the end of each chapter help facilitate a systematic study of the central teachings of this brilliant but pastoral pope, who conveyed the truth in love. 978-1-937155-36-0 174 pages, $12.95, paperback

The Pedagogy of God Its Centrality in Catechesis and Catechist Formation

Edited by: Caroline Farey, Waltraud Linnig & Sr. M. Johanna Paruch FSGM

A restoration, a recovery, is currently advancing in the area of religious education and catechesis, a restoration in which the concept of the “pedagogy of God” has a pivotal role to play. According to the General Directory for Catechesis, the primary difficulty facing catechesis today is that catechists do not yet have a full understanding of “the conception of catechesis as a school of faith, an initiation and apprenticeship in the entire Christian life.” The pivotal truth is that God himself is the pedagogue. He has the central role in every catechetical event. Catechists and those being catechized are invited to co-operate with him in learning under his grace. 978-1-931018-72-2 200 pages, $13.95, paperback

Faith and Life

“For the past two decades, Faith and Life has proven to be an excellent series for religious instruction in schools and family catechesis in the home. I know families who use this faith series and bear witness to the excellent fruit it has brought forth. To all who wish to transmit the faith to children in schools or in the home, I recommend the Faith and Life series as a textbook of refreshing and high quality. Pray God this catechism series will give a strong impetus to the transmission of the Faith and of Christian life in the German-speaking world.” Cardinal Christoph Schönborn Archbishop of Vienna General Editor, Catechism of the Catholic Church (In reference to the German edition) “I believe that the Faith and Life series is a very good catechetical tool. Students who finish this series will have an excellent grasp of the deposit of faith. The material is sound and is faithful to the Magisterium of our Holy Church.” Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted Diocese of Phoenix “Our diocesan Director of Religious Education and I are in complete agreement that this newly-revised series is a thorough and excellent presentation of the Catholic faith. I am especially impressed with the references to Sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church that appear in each lesson. The student activity book helps to reinforce what has been taught in the class. The revised teacher manual will prove to be particularly helpful for catechists because step by step lesson plans are provided for each lesson. At a time when our young people so desperately need sound teaching, the Faith and Life catechism series is the answer to prayers. I will strongly recommend this series for use in our schools and parish-based religious education programs.” Bishop Michael J. Sheridan Diocese of Colorado Springs

Catholic Fiction

Fatherless

This has been called a book of the century, powerful, gripping, deeply moving, hauntingly beautiful, masterfully done, a must read and a page turner! An intensely human tour of the great spiritual battles in the US Catholic Church during the late 20th century. Brian Gail takes us out into the trenches and shows what life was like for Catholics good and bad, during this critical time. This book is a great opportunity for Catholics to take hold of who they really are. Meticulously researched, brilliantly crafted, Fatherless takes the reader on an unforgettable journey inside Fortune 500 boardrooms and Madison Avenue screening rooms, behind one-way mirrors in America’s heartland and two-way screens in church confessionals, to the very peak of Ireland’s highest mountain and inside the papal dining room of John Paul II in Rome. Book only available in ereader format, $14.96

Motherless

Brian J. Gail has written another heart pounding, page turner of a novel for Catholics who are straining to hear their Church’s voice in what Pope John Paul II called the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-Church, the Gospel and the anti-Gospel. Motherless takes the reader on a riveting behind-the-scenes journey around the globe to the boardrooms and laboratories where the architects of The Life Sciences Revolution are preparing Mankind’s Final Solution ... and into the confessionals and chanceries where the Church’s response is being challenged. Father John Sweeney, pastor of a small Catholic parish on Philadelphia’s storied Main Line, is drawn into an apocalyptic vortex through the lives of parishioners Maggie Kealey, Michael Burns, and Joe Delgado. Without warning they are ushered through the back door of the Revolution where they discover human embryos being created in laboratories and frozen in cryogenic freezers for a global black market. Book only available in ereader format, $14.96

Childless

Catholic fiction unlike anything you’ve ever read! This heart-pounding adventure spanning forty years culminates in Childless, the third novel in Brian J. Gail’s “American Tragedy in Trilogy.” The reader is propelled from Manhattan boardrooms to European capitals to Middle East laboratories to Church chanceries and confessionals. Step into these pages and follow Fr. John Sweeney and the families he serves as they struggle to live their Catholic faith in a world that grows more hostile with every turn of the page. Gail throws back the veil on the architecture of the Life Sciences Revolution and its carefully planned milestones—from the abortifacients pill to in-vitro fertilization to embryonic stem cell testing, and ultimately, to the very door of the Transhumanist project itself. You will see something of your own soul in these characters as they struggle to survive the great apostasy and navigate their way to the Church’s promised New Springtime. Fatherless An intensely human tour of the great spiritual battles in the US Catholic church during the late 20th century, Brian Gail takes us out into the “trenches” and shows what life was like for Catholics good and bad during this critical time. Read by Anthony Castellano 13 CDs, $39.95

Get Holy or Die Tryin' T-Shirt This shirt is meant to encourage us to holiness and honor those that have died living the Gospel. The list on the back gives us a look at men and women who have died “giving it all.” Not all were martyred in the strict sense of the word; dying rather than renounce the faith, but all died living the gospel message. The early martyrs found their crown in the Colosseum, some at the hands of the American Indians, some martyrs of purity, many because they were Christians in Nazi Europe. One gave her life for her unborn child, another spent thirty years in solitary confinement in Communist China, another was burnt to death with his congregation in Poland at the hands of the Nazis. All are examples of holiness in action; reminders of God’s grace and role models for the faithful. “Viva Cristo Rey” (Long Live Christ the King) were the last words many of the martyrs said as they were killed. 100% cotton, pre-shrunk, black Available in S-XL................................................ $18.00
