Heritage on the Dock celebrates the rich history of Albert Dock and the Liverpool waterfront with four days of FREE family friendly fun, including street theatre, wildlife safaris, boat trips, walks, talks, workshops and live music surrounding by the UK’s largest group of Grade 1 listed buildings part of a world heritage site. Bring the whole family this Easter and enjoy a host of family friendly events whilst learning all about the history of Albert Dock Liverpool. Sail the south docks, hunt for the Dock Ness Monster, travel through time with Typhoon & The Pedal Players or hear the tales of the Mersey Moggies! Performances & Music Typhoon & The Pedal Players FREE Have you ever wanted to be a Time Traveller? Then join Typhoon & The Pedal Players on an amazing journey through space and time. Their steam-powered time machine is broken, and the Pedal Players are stuck in a time continuum. They’ve been cycling in circles for centuries, telling the hidden stories, myths and legends of Albert Dock, and need your help to make it back to the present. Liverpool Parish Church Guided Tours FREE

Liverpool Parish Church is the oldest surviving institution in the city, and its Lantern Tower has been a waterfront landmark for 200 years. Enjoy guided tours including the underground mortuary chapel as described by Herman Melville, the Cattrall etched glass Memorial Screens by artist David Peace, and the Maritime Chapel featuring the statue of St Mary del Key by Liverpool sculptor Arthur Dooley, and the bell of the last HMS Liverpool. Engineering Liverpool: Two Illustrated Talks FREE

John Foster and Sons: Kings of Liverpool John Foster Senior and Junior held the office of Surveyor for the Corporation of Liverpool from 1789-1836. Between them, they managed the prosperous growth of Georgian Liverpool and laid the foundations for its Victorian magnificence. This talk charts the rise and fall of one of the city’s most remarkable dynasties. Hugh Hollinghurst is a renowned local history author and classicist. Jesse Hartley: Liverpool’s Dock Engineer Initially John Foster Junior’s deputy, Jesse Hartley became the first full-time professional dock engineer in the world. He built and rebuilt the entire Liverpool dock system, including Albert Dock, with revolutionary designs that still stand today. This talk surveys this titanic figure of Liverpool’s history. Guided Tour of Central Docks LIVERPOOL WATERS FREE

Join a special tour of the principal docks of the Liverpool Waters development site, which are normally closed to the public: taking in the engine room of the Bascule Bridge at Stanley Dock, the dock bridewell at Collingwood Dock, Clarence Graving Docks, the river wall, up to the Victoria Clock Tower and the Dock Master’s Office, Nelson Dock, Bramley Moore Dock, and ending in the engine room of the Bascule Bridge. This tour begins with the history of Liverpool before the docks were created, before moving on to the development of Albert Dock and the regeneration of the buildings that now house Tate Liverpool. The gallery has gone through several transformations since opening in 1988, and this tour reveals its secrets.

To mark the opening of the exhibition Ken’s Show: Exploring the Unseen, Ken will be leading daily behind-the-scenes tours of Tate Liverpool. These special guided tours will reveal the inner workings of the gallery and uncover surprising stories behind the display of the nation’s artworks.
