You never know who you might meet here! In summer, winter sports centres offer a wealth of activities in the midst of green nature. Kranjska Gora www.kranjska-gora.si Ski in a World Cup venue! In summer Kranjska Gora is an ideal base for hiking, cycling and extreme water sports; there is even a summer toboggan run! Kanin, Bovec www.boveckanin.si As well as Alpine skiing, Slovenia’s highestlying ski centre offers ski touring routes, ski paragliding and extreme snowboarding competitions. In summer it is popular with hikers and mountain bikers.
Mariborsko Pohorje www.pohorje.org A ski centre on the edge of the city of Maribor, in winter it is a venue for a women’s World Cup Alpine skiing competition. Summer attractions include the Pohorje Bike Park, a high ropes course, a toboggan run and an energy hiking trail. Rogla www.rogla.si The Olympic centre on Rogla offers ski slopes and a cross-country skiing course near a popular thermal spa. In summer people are drawn here by the stunning surroundings and facilities for top athletes (including an altitude room to simulate highaltitude conditions).
Pokljuka www.pokljuka.eu In winter this plateau attracts cross-country skiers and biathletes from all over the world. In summer it is popular with hikers, cyclists and mushroom pickers. Not far away is the world-famous ski jumping centre Planica, home of records and champions (www.planica.si).
