Camping in Slovenia www.slovenia.info

Camping in Slovenia Slovenia is a country for visits and for holidays; it is a place where you will never get bored, regardless of the season. Guests seeking peace, beautiful nature in all its diversity, mountains, lakes, sea, health resorts, historical cities and towns, castles and churches will find Slovenia very charming and attractive. The list of museums, art galleries, castles and churches worth visiting is endless. There are countless hiking trails in the hills and mountains, bicycle routes and ski slopes, possibilities for hunting, fishing, horseback riding and action sports such as canyoning, rafting, skydiving, paragliding and hang-gliding. Throughout the country there are innumerable cultural events (music, theatre, dance, etc.) and local festivals, as well as discos where you can soak up the nightlife. Slovenia's campgrounds are ideal starting points if you want to plan your holidays by yourself, enjoy taking trips on the spur of the moment, and most importantly, want to spend your holidays in unspoilt scenery where you can enjoy the sound of rustling trees and singing birds. To keep your children busy and happy, many campgrounds have children's playgrounds, some have wading or children's swimming pools, and some offer special organised activities for children. If you wish to learn more about Slovenia in the company of professional tour and mountain guides, there are many campgrounds that run guided tours to points of interest near and far. Since 2001, Slovenia's campgrounds have been members of the EFCO&HPA (European Federation of Campingsite Organisations & Holiday Park Associations), which brings together 20,000 campgrounds from all across Europe.

Located in northeastern Slovenia far from industrial centres, Terme Banovci is just 16 kilometres from the Austrian border (Gornja Radgona–Bad Radkersburg border crossing), not far from the Maribor–Ljutomer–Murska Sobota road in the middle of the Mura plains. The regular campground has 130 camping sites, and the nudist one has 50. The Terme Banovci campground was the first nudist campground in Europe to be established at a thermal spa. Banovci's healing water flows to the surface from more than 1,500 metres below the ground with an initial temperature of 60 degrees Celsius. The Ministry of Health proclaimed this water a natural healing remedy to be used for treating injuries and post-operative conditions following surgery on bones, joints and muscles. Guests can relax in three outdoor pools with thermal water (between 34 and 38 degrees Celsius), a swimming pool with natural water, a pool with a slide and a children's pool, all with a total surface area of 1,920 square metres. The new world of saunas, massages, baths and compresses caters to the beauty of both body and soul. Guests can also enjoy sports and recreation: cycling, tennis, table tennis and volleyball. Excursions in the immediate surroundings are also enjoyable: guests can visit the beekeeping museum, take a raft or boat trip on the Mura River, fly a motorised hang-glider over the Prlekija region and visit the floating mill in Veržej. The Banovci area is famous for first-class wines, select cheeses, spirited harness racing horses and wonderful pottery. Organised entertainment programmes offer remarkable experiences for all generations. Regular and nudist campground 7

Kamp Korita is one of the most unique campgrounds in Slovenia, if not in all of the Alps. It is situated at the heart of Triglav National Park, in the village of Soča (Trenta), right by the Soča River basin. The first environment-friendly campground in Slovenia was built exclusively from natural materials. It has waste separation facilities, and uses mostly solar energy (solar lights and showers) and biodegradable cleaning products. This eco-friendly campground holds plenty of surprises such as wooden footbridges, natural steps, clematis fences, wooden art sculptures, a playground made of natural materials, the "breathing house," and other attractions. The campground's specialty is accommodation units called "Soča beds," open-sided and roofed wooden structures with tents underneath. The tents come with mattresses, blankets and pillows. Additional offerings include a wide range of action sports in one spot (Adrenalinček Sports Centre), traditional local cuisine, organised corporate activities and events, tours and excursions, and organised evening activities by the campfire. Advanced booking is essential for a campground spot and activities. 24

The Škocjan Caves Natural Park is situated in the classical Karst landscape, to which the geographical term “karst” originates. The Škocjan Caves with their vast chambers and its unique underground canyon hold a special place in Slovenia. Combined is a system of eleven interconnected caves, sinkholes, sinks and natural bridges. The most spectacular attraction is a 100 m high underground canyon, that was formed by the biggest slovenian underground river Reka. Besides the canyon the caves are embellished with enormous dripstones of different shapes, colours and sizes. One of the most magnificent are the sediment pools. Postojna Cave

The tourist centre »Postojna Cave« with its parking for campers, restaurant and gift shops is open all the year round! Postojna Cave is the largest cave in the classical karst and also the most visited tourist cave in Europe. You are taken around the cave in a tourist train and you can admire the extensiveness and immensity of the subterranean world under electric lightening. The most beautiful galleries were discovered in 1818 by natives and a year after they were arranged for tourist visits. Since then, this wonder of nature has been visited by more than 32 millions of visitors. This subterranean cave system is also the home of the worldwide known human fish, which can be viewed in the Vivarium next to the cave entrance. A mighty, 700 years old Predjama Castle, the secret home of the bold, headstrong and rebellious knight Erazem Predjamski, lays only 10 km away from the Postojna Cave, in a 123 meters high rock wall. For more information visit our web site or ask for a brochure at the camp’s reception. You are kindly invited to visit the number one tourist sight in Slovenia.
