Mulberry Villas build homes with factory speed and artisan care—structural precision delivered in weeks, interiors shaped patiently by hand. Outdoor decks dissolve the boundaries between inside and out, and sustainable choices keep the home light on the earth. From 30-day designs to a 150-day move-in, each villa is crafted for light, calm, and quiet living.
For years, the word “prefab” conjured images of the practical and the cold, but Mulberry Villas is leading a “Renaissance in Construction & Design” that prioritises the human soul. This is not just about building a house; it is about crafting experiences from emotions and celebrating the unimaginable possibilities of bespoke design.
The Mulberry philosophy, shaped by Amod Barve and Architect Archana Nair, asks a vital question: “What if the
Central to this lifestyle is “Al Fresco Living”. These ABoVe Nook – Futuristic
structure worked like a system - but the home felt like a story?”. To achieve this, they use a hybrid approach. While the “bones” of the home are precision-engineered using state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing to ensure they are stronger than traditional RCC structures, the soul arrives on site. Interiors are finished by hand, allowing textures to layer and materials to breathe, ensuring the space feels “lived-in” before you even move in.

homes are designed to spill outdoors, with decks that dissolve into gardens and spaces that adapt from morning yoga to evening celebrations. Whether it is a stargazing deck or a meditation nook, these zones create a sanctuary from urban stress, fostering mindfulness and a deep connection to nature. This technical superiority also allows for “Any Terrain Living,” enabling you to place your luxury retreat in a forest or by the hills.
Mulberry removes the “fatigue” of traditional building - where dreams are often postponed by delays - by delivering a 3,000 sq ft home in approximately 150 days. This “Concept to Key” service ensures that your transition to “International Living” is seamless, sustainable, and “Pro-Health”. Ultimately, Mulberry offers a quiet revolution that values calm over chaos and experience over excess

February in India always arrives like someone turning down the volume. The wedding season’s echoes soften, the light slants a little gentler, and we’re left with that rare, in-between breath before spring insists on beginning again. This year, the issue arrived in my hands feeling exactly like that pause - full of places and people who understand the power of what lingers.
We open with Aahana in Jim Corbett, where winter mornings move slowly enough to let the forest breathe with you. Private pools steam under mist, brunches come from the garden, and the whole place reminds you that real luxury is permission to be still. Then we cross to Kolkata, to Hyatt Regency, where 23 years of quiet orchestration turn ballrooms into vows and boardrooms into breakthroughs - always with that “Perfectly Yours” warmth that makes every occasion feel like it was meant for you alone.
Utsav Camp Sariska pulls us deeper into the Aravallis, where barren land was turned into a regenerative retreat. The camp doesn’t shout about sustainability; it lives it - solar power, zero-mile meals, horse safaris that let the wild teach you patience. It’s a reminder that some of the most profound journeys are the ones that heal the land while they heal you.

From there, the conversation turns inward. Umber Furniture and Elan Decor show us how reclaimed teak and soft linens can make a house feel like it’s known you for years. Schueco, Dona Modular, and EITRI remind us that design doesn’t have to announce itself - it can simply evolve alongside your life. Bobby Mukherji’s work carries the same thread: heritage that breathes, minimalism that feels generous. Loco Design’s 30-year persistence and Ashiesh Shah’s Wabi-Sabi quiet revolution prove that craft isn’t about perfection; it’s about depth.
In fine dining, Gaggan Anand remains the restless genius - closing at the top, climbing higher, rejecting formality for soul. Mon Dimora and Bateel turn the table into a private ritual: porcelain that remembers, dates that carry centuries of care.
And through it all runs the same quiet question: what lasts? Not the loudest, not the newest, but the things we choose to keep close. The places that restore us, the objects that hold our stories, the people who understand that luxury is never about more - it’s about meaning.
With quiet anticipation for the year ahead.

Arabiyat Prestige, represents a distinctly modern chapter in Arabian perfumery. Rooted in Dubai yet global in its outlook, the company’s journey reflects both personal grit and the evolution of the city it calls home.
The story begins with Mustafa Firoz Boughwala’s father, Mr Firoz Boughwala, who opened a small multi-brand perfume store in Satwa, Dubai. At the time, Dubai itself was still finding its footing as a trading hub. That modest store became the seed of a much larger ambition, growing steadily alongside the city’s rise into a regional force.
As the business expanded, so did the desire to create something enduring. What began as retail evolved into in-house fragrance creation and manufacturing, shaping scents rather than merely selling them. Today, Arabiyat Prestige’s fragrances reach patrons across the USA, the UK, Europe, Russia, Central Asia, the Far East and India,
with the intent of bringing joy, confidence and delight to millions.
In its early phase, the company traded international perfume brands, where offering genuine value to customers was paramount. That retail DNA continues to influence its philosophy. When Arabiyat Prestige moved into manufacturing, it unlocked the freedom to pay homage to the richness of Arabian perfumery while making it relevant to a global audience.
Today, Arabiyat Prestige ranks among the ten largest perfume brands from the UAE, with a footprint spanning manufacturing, private labelling, retail, franchising and international licensing. Its raison d’etre, described as

Luxury For Less, is built on zero compromise. Ingredients, formulation, bottling and packaging are approached with equal rigour, earning the brand a reputation for quality, distinctive bottles and a strong visual and sensorial wow factor.
Its values of excellence, innovation, integrity, passion, commitment, and community are reflected not only in its fragrances but also in the overall experience it delivers.
This philosophy is most visibly expressed through Arabiyat Prestige, one of Arabiyat Prestige’s standout fragrance lines. Created on the belief that everyone deserves to smell good without breaking the bank, Arabiyat Prestige offers a luxurious experience from bottle to fragrance. Trending international notes are blended with the depth, mystique and emotional richness of Arabic perfumery, creating a confident dialogue between East and West.
Exported to over ninety countries, Arabiyat Prestige fills a clear market gap by making luxury fragrances accessible without sacrificing performance. Longevity, projection and richness are central to its compositions, while customised bottling and sophisticated packaging deliver a memorable unboxing experience. Confident, bold and colourful, the line reflects the spirit of modern Dubai, progressive, global and rooted in tradition.
The fragrances themselves are layered and intimate. Florals, gourmands, ouds, musks, woods, resins and aquatic notes are balanced in multifaceted blends that move between opulence and restraint, sensuality and sophistication.
India has emerged as a particularly significant market for Arabiyat Prestige. With a long cultural relationship with fragrance and a growing appetite for luxury, India feels like a natural home. Through its expanding retail and e-commerce presence, the brand speaks to consumers who
value performance, layering and emotional connection.
Fragrance creation at Arabiyat Prestige follows a rigorous process. Every scent begins as an idea, translated into an olfactory brief, developed through multiple iterations with in-house and internationally celebrated perfumers, tested for stability, refined in bottle design and launched with carefully crafted storytelling. Cultural influences from Arabia, India and global perfumery shape fragrances that travel effortlessly across borders.
For Mustafa Firoz Boughwala, fragrance is deeply personal.
“Fragrance is an emotion, a feeling and a language in itself. Personal, intimate, unspoken. It’s a memory of a time gone by, yet not forgotten. It’s a person who owns a place in your heart, irrespective of whether they are around or not. It’s that abstract which becomes a reality the moment you remember it, you smell and feel it,” he says.
Looking ahead, Arabiyat Prestige is investing in concentrated EDPs, extrait formats, immersive retail and global partnerships. With several fragrances gaining worldwide traction in 2025, the company’s long-term ambition is clear; to define the modern face of their perfumery across the world.
As Boughwala puts it, “We aim to celebrate each individual and create the extraordinary from the everyday moments. We aim to be that dash of fragrance that adds happiness and beauty to life.”

For time-driven decision-makers, BLADE India offers a more innovative approach to short-distance travel, combining air mobility with operational efficiency and personalised control, and the brand has successfully positioned itself as a leader in short-haul air mobility and private charter services.
Imagine a CEO testifying to a day spent battling the infamous Mumbai-Pune commute, a journey that drains several vital hours that could have been devoted to strategic decision-making and business growth. In the modern world of business and highstakes leadership, time has become the most elusive form of luxury. Not because there is too little of it, but because so much of it is lost in transit. BLADE India enters this space with quiet precision, offering a new way to move across the country where efficiency, control, and reliability converge at altitude.
Operating under the Hunch Mobility brand, BLADE India has positioned itself as a leader in short-haul air mobility and private charter services. Its model is service-first and outcome-driven. Clients can charter aircraft from any part of India, including metropolitan hubs and regional cities. Each request begins with an assessment of operational
ABOVE Beechcraft C90 based out of Delhi (BLADE Anywhere)
requirements, passenger needs, timelines, and comfort expectations. From this, the most suitable aircraft is identified and arranged, allowing every journey to be purpose-built rather than standardised.
This flexibility has redefined how business leaders, corporate teams, and high-value travellers approach mobility. Same-day return trips that once required overnight stays are now achievable. Intercity meetings, leadership off-sites, industrial site visits, and strategic engagements can be completed with precision scheduling. BLADE Anywhere, the brand’s charter vertical, connects cities to remote and regional destinations while bypassing road congestion and inefficient commercial flight networks.
The experience extends beyond aircraft availability. BLADE India’s white-glove service model is designed to remove friction across the entire travel chain. Dedicated Flier Experience Managers coordinate each journey end-to-end.

Customised in-flight dining allows meals to be tailored to dietary and personal preferences. Premium ground transportation ensures seamless movement between terminals and destinations. Partner lounges provide controlled environments with high-speed connectivity and refreshment services, enabling travellers to work, reset, or prepare before departure.
Safety remains foundational to the offering. Operators undergo rigorous third-party vetting and strictly comply with DGCA regulations governing aircraft maintenance and flight operations. Passenger details, including baggage and weight information, are verified to meet operational standards, reinforcing consistency, compliance, and peace of mind.
Among the aircraft available within BLADE’s charter network is the Beechcraft C90GT, a twin turboprop designed for short to mid-range routes. Seating up to six passengers, it features a spacious cabin fitted with premium leather interiors, elegant wood finishes, and ambient lighting. Equipped with the Pro Line 21 avionics suite and powered by PT6A-135A engines, the C90GT delivers fast climbs, short-field performance, and efficient fuel burn. This allows access to smaller runways while maintaining smooth and quiet operations.
Beyond individual aircraft, BLADE India’s strength lies in scale and experience. With over a decade of global operations across the United States, Canada, and Europe, the BLADE brand brings established aviation expertise into the Indian market. Hunch Mobility launched operations in Maharashtra in 2019 and Karnataka in 2021, becoming among the first to introduce the pay-per-seat model in
India. To date, the company has completed more than 2,500 flights and continues to expand its footprint.
BLADE India also extends its capabilities into critical services through BLADE Care. In partnership with leading essential care providers, the company facilitates medical evacuations and planned medevac transport for patients requiring specialised equipment or who are unable to travel commercially. These services ensure safe and efficient air ambulance connectivity to advanced healthcare centres across the country.
Looking ahead, the organisation remains focused on future mobility. From helicopter operations today to electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft tomorrow, BLADE India continues to invest in next-generation air transport solutions to reduce congestion and improve urban and regional connectivity.
In an increasingly time-sensitive economy, private aviation is no longer about exclusivity alone. It is about operational advantage. BLADE India delivers that advantage by transforming travel into a strategic asset.
Fly from anywhere. Charter with precision. Let time work in your favour.

At MUGEN Design Lab in Mumbai, Sana Alam sculpts India’s ancient natural materials, like alabaster, into contemporary designs, with geometric precision that reveals their strength.

MUGEN, meaning “infinite” in Japanese, embodies boundless exploration guided by cultural memory and emerging technologies. Founded by Sana Alam, the studio transforms weathered façades, shifting shadows and erosion rhythms into monolithic forms that balance restraint with subtle emotion. Primarily engaging stone, especially alabaster, the practice yields light-filled objects poised between utility and sculpture. Sustainability underpins every decision, with natural materials, minimal waste and heirloom intent ensuring pieces endure across generations.
THE ITERATIVE METHODOLOGY – OBSERVATION, PRECISION AND INSTINCT
Every piece begins with real-world prompts, including cloud drift, light refraction and surface response. Dozens of sketches precede tactile models, allowing instinct to refine proportion and rhythm. The process mirrors natural growth, where deliberate, unhurried styles are resolved only when form feels inevitable. Artisans in Agra, steeped in centuries-old stone-carving lineages, interpret drawings with intimate knowledge of alabaster’s weight and translucency or metal’s molten behaviour. Their intuition as co-creators honours the environment and celebrates

their extraordinary hand skills.
BARRAQ is a sculptural lighting collection that transforms the fleeting beauty of volcanic clouds into enduring forms carved from solid alabaster. BARRAQ’s alabaster luminaires, including Volka, Rui, Shams, Barq and Raaq, translate volcanic cloud violence into serene permanence. Each begins as charcoal studies of atmospheric flux, then carved by artisans who read the stone’s veins as weather maps.
Volka: rises like a frozen flame, its undulating curves trapping light in a stratified glow.
Rui: appears suspended mid-air, carved to cradle stillness amid implied motion.
Barq: seizes lightning’s jagged charge within smooth containment.
Shams: diffuses a gentle radiance, evoking sunlight filtered through ancient quarries.
Raaq: introduces deliberate asymmetry, teetering between turbulence and calm.
Together, they showcase how stone can feel light, as

alabaster is typically opaque, and becomes a vessel for inner light, proving solidity can feel ethereal and permanence can evoke transience.
The FORMA Collection pivots to metal, one of humanity’s earliest mediums, recast through sand-casting to express futuristic poise. Aero, Flux, and Tula emerge from prolonged sketching, clay prototypes, and silent experimentation, where touch guides as much as line. Polished surfaces refract surroundings, granting rigid alloy a liquid shimmer. Drawing from spacecraft contours, time-capsule geometry and wind-tunnel architecture, FORMA holds motion within structure.
Aero: twin spouts ascend like parallel thrusters, embodying engineered lift yet betraying the maker’s fingerprint in subtle irregularities.
Flux: spiralling tiers capture energy mid-ascent, freezing a single frame of expansion into polished bronze.
Tula: reimagines the Indian matka, where a bulbous base and tapered neck retain ancestral silhouette while stretching into aerodynamic sculpture.
Each vase is a quiet meditation on how metal, once forged for tools, now articulates human aspiration, creating unique and luxurious collections, where each piece is an artefact of form, process, and presence.

The debut BARRAQ collection was also showcased at the Milan Design Week 2025, positioning the collection within global conversations on craft and design. BARRAQ extends material vocabularies beyond convention, capturing the precise instant imagination which fuses with craft. Sana Alam’s studio does not chase trends but cultivates a language, spare yet emotive, ancient yet anticipatory, that speaks across cultures. In an era of ephemera, MUGEN carries memories forward for global collectors, who are materially astute and emotionally rooted in innovation.

Every EITRI creation begins with a spark: a dream that finds shape in metal, wood, and light. With a nod to the legendary craftsman EITRI, Ricky Sudey and Vipul Sachdeva forge designs that are both bold and intimate, sculpting objects that elevate interiors into living stories of beauty and emotion.
Here, the design begins where imagination meets mastery. Each piece is a conversation between material and emotion, a bespoke creation that transforms a room into a sanctuary. Born from that vision and inspired by the legendary Norse craftsman EITRI, the studio melds heritage, precision, and avant-garde expression. It turns furniture, lighting, and décor into objects that do more than occupy space: they resonate.
For both Ricky and Vipul, design has always been an emotional act. A quiet joy in making. A respect for detail. A belief that craftsmanship can alter the rhythm of how we live, move, and connect with our surroundings. With EITRI, they didn’t set out to build another design studio. They
built a space where art carries emotion, and functionality is allowed to have soul.
Founded in 2019, the name draws from EITRI, the master craftsman of Norse mythology, the Dwarf King, whose mastery of metal produced legendary creations. That spirit of precision, imagination, and near-mythical devotion threads through the brand. Every piece that leaves their studio carries intention — a marriage of luxury, innovation, and a story told through form.
EITRI’s work rejects the idea of repetition. They prefer revelation. Their bespoke furniture, lighting, and décor lean into bold silhouettes and unexpected materiality. Avant-garde, but never alien. Sculptural, yet usable. These are pieces shaped by imagination and finished through

meticulous craft, destined to become the visual anchor of the spaces they inhabit. They do not whisper. They announce themselves, then settle in with quiet confidence.
The philosophy that guides the brand is deceptively simple: every home deserves something that feels exclusive. Something that sparks curiosity. Something that makes a guest pause for a moment longer than expected. Through carefully crafted pieces that are designed to be noticed, EITRI turns homes into personal sanctuaries, places where self-expression isn’t just encouraged — it becomes part of the architecture. Their mission, “Curating your sanctuary, one piece at a time,” is less a slogan and more a worldview. Good design should lift the everyday. It should allow a room to become an experience and a house to evolve into a story.
Behind this is a partnership shaped by different beginnings, woven together by the same purpose.
Ricky Sudey grew up in the gentle quiet of Dehradun’s hills, where he discovered early the satisfaction of creating something with intention. A NIFT Delhi graduate, he later strengthened his design vocabulary through his work with global luxury brands such as L’Objet, Restoration Hardware, and Arhaus. These years sharpened his instinct for pieces that are both functional and soulful; objects that may serve a purpose but never lose their emotional pull.
Vipul Sachdeva’s first lessons in craft came from home. Born in Aligarh, a city known for its fine metalwork traditions, he grew up inside his father’s handcrafting workshop, absorbing the discipline and dignity of skilled labour. An engineer by education but a craftsman by instinct, Vipul brings technical mastery and structural

clarity to every EITRI piece. His presence ensures each creation isn’t just beautiful to look at, but built to endure — timeless in spirit and construction.
Together, Ricky and Vipul embody a contemporary form of craftsmanship. Heritage in their hands. Vision in their minds. Precision balanced with passion. They are constantly shaping a brand where objects are not ornamental afterthoughts but emotional extensions of the people who live with them.
EITRI is not simply a label for furniture or décor. It is an ongoing act of forging emotion into form, of turning dreams into design, and of creating beauty that settles into a space with the quiet assurance that it will last longer than trends, and perhaps, even longer than time itself.

In India’s evolving landscape of modern luxury, Dona Modular stands apart for its ability to merge contemporary refinement with a deeply human approach to design. Every kitchen, wardrobe and bar becomes an intimate expression of the people who live with it, crafted with a clarity that feels both intelligent and beautifully lived.
Luxury inside a home often reveals itself quietly. In the way a kitchen holds its structure with calm confidence or in the way a wardrobe opens without resistance. Dona Modular has built its identity around this sense of quiet confidence. The brand approaches the most intimate spaces of a home as extensions of personal rhythm and individual taste. The brand was founded on a single conviction. Design must empower the life that unfolds within it. A room becomes complete only when it adapts effortlessly to the people it holds. This is why luxury, in the Dona vocabulary, is defined not by spectacle but by ownership. Ownership of detail and preference. Ownership of the feeling a home evokes. Every creation is crafted with this intention. Not
to impress from a distance but to express the person who lives within its orbit.
Dona’s aesthetic is grounded in a deliberate balance. Surfaces speak through texture, proportions through restraint and every joint, hinge and line through quiet engineering. The combination of best in class materials with advanced appliances ensures longevity, while craftled sensitivity adds warmth and soul. The result is a design language that feels modern and minimal yet deeply personal. Nothing is superfluous. Everything is refined. The beauty lies in measured choices and thoughtful stillness.
This philosophy finds clarity in the persona through which the brand speaks. Dona is imagined as a woman defined by intention, quiet strength and unmistakable

individuality. Her presence is shaped by intention rather than decoration. “Born of Design” reflects the brand’s creative origin, while “Made Human by You” acknowledges the personal signature every client brings to the final experience. It is a relationship between innovation and intimacy, where design is not merely crafted but completed by the homeowner’s hands and habits.
The design direction of Dona Modular is guided by a leadership philosophy rooted in contemporary Indian living, led by Divya Thakkar, Director and Head of Design at Dona Modular. With over a decade of experience, she brings a nuanced understanding of contemporary Indian living. Her work bridges modern global sensibilities with the emotional resonance that Indian homes naturally carry. As Director, she safeguards the brand’s standards of craftsmanship, quality and innovation. As Head of Design, she encourages a studio culture built on precision, empathy and meaningful creativity. This dual philosophy touches every Dona creation. Structured thinking. Human warmth.
Dona’s studios in Mumbai and Hyderabad, along with its flagship experience centre in Udaipur, bring this universe to life. Each one functions as a design atelier where ideas
are explored through material, light, and proportion before becoming living realities. Clients experience design as something tactile, immersive and deeply considered. Surfaces are touched. Textures are compared. Ideas are refined in conversation. The process invites people to understand how a space will feel long before it is built.
This journey from concept to creation is transparent and collaborative, making clients and partners feel valued and involved in shaping their spaces with clarity and craftsmanship.
As Dona continues to expand across India, it brings its distinct design approach to more homes and audiences. The growth is steady and intentional, aligned with the belief that proper design is never defined by scale, but by how deeply it belongs to the people who live with it. This vision guides the brand toward its long-term ambition to become India’s icon of luxury modular living.
With every project, Dona builds far more than functional installations. It creates environments shaped by authenticity, craftsmanship and care. Living spaces that understand their inhabitants and hold life the way it deserves to be held.

At Schueco, windows are not just openings to the outside world; they are the means to shape light, sound, and atmosphere. They create spaces that reflect who you are today and adapt gracefully as life unfolds.
Some homes feel like an extension of you. They understand your rhythms, hold your memories and adapt quietly as life unfolds. This is what Schueco believes a home should be. Not a set of windows, but an environment that evolves with you and becomes more meaningful with time.
When the Singhania family began imagining their new residence, they were not seeking grandeur. Their vision was harmony. Harmony between three generations who would share mornings, routines and celebrations under a single roof, and harmony for the generations who would one day inherit the space and continue its story. Every conversation about the home was thoughtful and layered,
shaped by experiences, habits, and the desire for a place that felt equally grounding and forward-looking.
The family patriarch longed for quiet. He wanted a calm corner to read in peace, a space where afternoon rest felt uninterrupted and where silence was not an indulgence but a natural part of the home. Mr. Singhania, having spent his childhood in a colonial-style house, associated morning light with comfort and clarity. He wanted that gentle warmth to return, though without the heat that often pooled through older structures. His daughter, a tech entrepreneur, imagined a home that responded to her lifestyle—something intuitive, intelligent and aligned with the flow of her day rather than working against it.

These were different needs shaped by different eras of life. Yet one sentiment bound them together. They wanted a home that reflected who they were and would continue to reflect who they were becoming. A home that felt lived in rather than worn out, and one capable of ageing gracefully with them.
This approach to comfort is central to Schueco’s design philosophy. The brand’s belief has always been that homes deserve solutions that respect the individuality of the people who live in them. This meant crafting thoughtful responses rather than ornamental ones and integrating systems that would quietly elevate the family’s everyday experience.
The transformation began with the elements that frame a home, quite literally. For the grandfather, Schueco introduced the AWS 90 AC.SI, a window system engineered with precision and designed to reduce outside disturbances. It blended naturally with the home’s aesthetic and offered him the quiet, composed environment he sought. It allowed his reading nook to become a place of steady calm, a small but meaningful detail that shaped his day.
To support the family’s shared spaces, the AS PD 75.HI panoramic sliding doors were introduced. With their expansive view and minimal presence, they opened the living areas to natural light in a way that felt both generous and controlled. The rooms felt connected to the outdoors without feeling exposed. Mr. Singhania found his morning routines more restorative, uplifted by the gentle brightness that now entered the space. For his daughter, the integrated Tiptronic locking system provided intuitive
ease of use, aligning with her preference for technology that blends seamlessly into her lifestyle.
Each choice was made to support the family’s evolving needs. The systems did not overpower the home’s design but complemented it, ensuring that practicality and elegance worked together. This balance keeps a home versatile, relevant, and prepared for the future.
Today, the Singhania residence stands as a quiet example of what thoughtful design can achieve. A place that adapts as life changes. And a space that, much like fine design, will continue to deepen in character year after year.

Bobby Mukherrji Architects partners with developers to create iconic commercial and residential buildings. Their global projects prioritise innovative design, environmental sustainability, and market appeal.

Bobby Mukherrji, Principal of Bobby Mukherrji Architects (BMA), always gravitated towards art and won several accolades for this talent from a young age. His early exposure to the business of real estate and the realisation of its power to shape cities and lives were instrumental in his selecting architecture and design as a career.
Bobby established Bobby Mukherrji Architects in 1992, while still a student of architecture, but with great faith in his creativity. His professional experiences worldwide, specifically in New York and Los Angeles, further honed his talent and professionalism. Each project designed by Bobby Mukherrji Architects is shaped by an intrinsic understanding of architecture, art, design, technology, and landscape.
Q&A WITH BOBBY MUKHERRJI, ARCHITECTS –PRINCIPAL
1. WHAT INITIALLY INSPIRED YOUR PASSION FOR ARCHITECTURE?
From a very young age, I was surrounded by creativity,

performance, and design. My parents’ deep involvement in theatre exposed me to the world of light, form, and storytelling. I became fascinated by how spatial composition could evoke emotion and how light could define mood and movement. Architecture allowed me to combine imagination with precision, creating experiences that are both expressive and functional. The idea that one could shape the way people live, interact, and feel through design was incredibly powerful to me.
2. YOUR FAMILY’S CONNECTION TO STAGE DESIGN AND LIGHTING FOR THEATRE IS NOTABLE. HOW HAS THIS INFLUENCED YOUR APPROACH TO ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND LIGHTING CONCEPTS?
Theatre teaches you the power of atmosphere and how light, shadow, and movement can transform emotion. My early exposure to stagecraft made me see architecture as choreography; every space, like a scene, must have rhythm, anticipation, and focus. Lighting became my narrative tool, not a technical afterthought, but a layer that shapes the »

« drama and soul of a space. This sensibility works beautifully in hospitality and public projects, where guests come for a short, immersive experience, a day, a week, perhaps more, and the space can afford to be expressive and theatrical. But when it comes to homes or workplaces, that drama must evolve into something more personal and restrained. The theatricality doesn’t disappear; it becomes subtle, woven into warmth, comfort, and identity. In residential design, the protagonist shifts: it’s the family, the individual, the daily life, and the story unfolds around them.
3. AS THE FIRST INDIAN ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN FIRM TO ESTABLISH A STUDIO IN MILAN, HOW DO YOU COMPARE THE ARCHITECTURAL APPROACHES AND CULTURAL INFLUENCES OF ITALY AND INDIA?
Milan has a way of pulling you into its world of design. You don’t have to be Italian to feel the city itself teaches you. Everything there, from a street café to a window display, is rooted in design thinking. Even a cab driver has an opinion on style! It’s a place where design and culture are

part of daily life. Having a studio has been a big advantage for us. The team brings in that innate sophistication, that quiet sense of refinement that aligns beautifully with how I think about design.
4. WHAT KEY QUALITIES DO YOU SEEK IN THE PROFESSIONALS YOU COLLABORATE WITH TO ENSURE SUCCESSFUL PROJECT OUTCOMES?
Individuals who are not only technically sound but also emotionally invested in design. Integrity, curiosity, and resilience are the most valuable qualities. A great team member must be able to listen to clients, to context, and to the design itself. They should have the confidence to express ideas but also the humility to evolve them. I value cross-disciplinary thinking: people who can move seamlessly between creativity and practicality.
5. YOUR FIRM IS RENOWNED FOR PLACING THE CLIENT AT THE HEART OF ITS DESIGN SOLUTIONS. HOW DO YOU BUILD MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS WITH CLIENTS TO UNDERSTAND THEIR VISION? It starts with listening, really getting to know their dreams, »

« their worries, and what success means to them. Many of our clients, especially in hospitality and real estate, are first-timers. We often find ourselves guiding them closely, helping turn their ideas into spaces that not only inspire but also deliver strong returns. It’s a very collaborative process. We involve them from the start, making sure they feel heard and part of every key decision.
6. COULD YOU WALK US THROUGH THE DESIGN PROCESS YOU FOLLOW TO COMPLETE A PROJECT?
For me, every project begins with really listening to the client, to the site, and to what the space itself wants to become. It’s about understanding how people will live, move, and feel there. Once that story starts forming, we begin exploring ideas, sketching, modelling, and experimenting until a clear narrative emerges. From there, it’s about refining: choosing materials, light, and texture that bring the idea to life. Execution is where collaboration

becomes key, where architects, engineers, craftsmen, and clients all work toward one shared vision.
7. HOW DO YOU INTEGRATE AND UPHOLD SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES ACROSS YOUR ARCHITECTURAL PROJECTS?
Sustainability, for me, starts with respect for the land, the climate, and the people who will use the space. It’s not about ticking boxes, but about designing responsibly. We always try to make the building work with nature, not against it, using light, wind, and orientation to our advantage. We prefer local materials and craftsmanship because that automatically reduces waste and adds authenticity. In larger projects, we bring in smart systems for energy and water use, but technology is always there to serve the environment, not to overshadow it. Ultimately, sustainability is sustained through long term thinking, continuous learning, collaboration with »

8. HAVING COMPLETED PROJECTS IN OVER 20 COUNTRIES, WHICH COUNTRY PRESENTED THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ARCHITECTURAL CHALLENGES?
Every country brings its own set of challenges, but designing the private jet terminal in St. Kitts, in the Caribbean, was truly a one-of-a-kind experience. The island’s climate, geography, and ultra-luxury expectations demanded a design that balanced resilience with refined comfort. We were creating a gateway for the world’s elite, yet it had to feel relaxed, rooted, and unmistakably Caribbean.
9. WHICH PROJECT IN YOUR PORTFOLIO HAS BEEN THE MOST FULFILLING, AND WHAT MADE IT PARTICULARLY MEANINGFUL TO YOU?
The Hilton Gurugram Baani City Centre has been one of the most fulfilling projects in my portfolio. With over 223 keys, it stands as Hilton’s flagship for India and was envisioned as an urban resort where business and leisure blend seamlessly. What made it especially meaningful

was the design philosophy, “luxury felt, not forced.” At the heart of the hotel stands a centuries-old preserved olive tree, illuminated beneath a triple-height skylight. This living sculpture became the emotional and spatial anchor of the project, a symbol of serenity amidst the city’s bustle.
10. YOUR WORK HAS EARNED GLOBAL RECOGNITION THROUGH NUMEROUS INTERNATIONAL AWARDS. HOW DO YOU CONSISTENTLY DELIVER INNOVATIVE DESIGNS WHILE ADAPTING TO THE EVOLVING GLOBAL ARCHITECTURAL LANDSCAPE?
For me, innovation isn’t about chasing what’s new; it’s about staying curious and relevant. The world changes fast, but the core of good design remains the same: clarity, honesty, and emotion. At BMA, our team brings diverse perspectives, including architects, designers, artists, and even technologists, which keeps the ideas fresh. We’re constantly exploring new materials and methods, but always with a focus on how people will feel in the space. I believe the best designs don’t scream for attention; they simply belong. That balance between modern thinking and timeless sensibility is what keeps our work evolving yet grounded.

LOCO Design aims not just to create beautiful things, but to make design matter. Their work spans product design, interior and brand experiences; always deeply considered and crafted with sophistication.
The design house’s ethos is rooted in holistic thinking and commercial intelligence. Whether its bespoke furniture or immersive residential spaces, the process is always contextual, thoughtfully layered, and executed without compromise. What began nearly three decades ago as a small workshop refining overlooked craft traditions has grown into an international design house whose sensibility feels both timeless and remarkably current.
Loco Design’s interdisciplinary studio where product designers, graphic artists, interior specialists and technical experts collaborate with one quiet but powerful ambition. They want every idea to be transformed into something deeply considered and exquisitely crafted. Their work spans furniture, lifestyle objects, residential and commercial interiors and bespoke brand experiences.
Whatever the category, the design house proceeds with one guiding truth. Design must matter. It must carry purpose, intention and an unmistakable sense of care. This philosophy sits at the heart of all four proprietary brands within the Loco family. Madheke, Taamaa, Caur and Pintark each reveal a different facet of the LOCO’s design language. All share a refined aesthetic and an unwavering devotion to material mastery. Among them, Madheke and Taamaa have now stepped onto the global stage, introducing a broader audience to a new expression of Indian luxury. Both brands made their U.S debut, marking a milestone for Loco Design.
The story begins many years ago, when founder, CEO & DEO, Parminder Pal Singh noticed a gap in how Indian craft

was perceived. During the initial period of working with international clients, Singh realised that, while India had immense artisanal heritage, global buyers did not associate the country with high-quality design. The realisation landed with unexpected clarity. If a product crafted in India did not carry a India origin label, what did that reveal about perception? Singh took this to heart. Instead of accepting the narrative, he saw in it a remarkable opportunity.
LOCO began collaborating closely with architects and designers both within India and abroad. This allowed the design house to refine traditional craft processes, integrate modern techniques and slowly rebuild confidence in the region’s craftsmanship. Out of this period of experimentation and reinvention, two brand directions emerged side by side. One would speak directly to the world of high luxury. The other would bring joy, warmth and accessibility without ever compromising on quality. These two ideas would later become Madheke and Taamaa.
Madheke is a world of quiet sophistication. It is defined by furniture and accessories that combine heritage
craftsmanship with contemporary clarity. The pieces feel sculptural yet subtle, modern yet emotionally resonant. They speak to clients who value nuance, depth and the enduring beauty of traditional materials treated with sophisticated restraint.
At its U.S debut, Madheke introduced two particularly striking pieces. The Rouen Chair, refined yet bold, features a brass-detailed back and a leather seat that captures the brand’s ability to balance poise and innovation. The Renner Chair, recognised as an honouree at the Best of the Year Designers Today design awards, appears almost sculpted, presented in orange leather that feels warm, contemporary, and confident. Alongside these were accessories that elegantly extended the world of Madheke. Watch boxes, games, barware, and crafted décor objects offered a complete sensorial universe rooted in detail and refinement.
Taamaa has a very different energy. It delights in colour, spontaneity and expressive form. The brand celebrates individuality and invites interiors to feel more joyful and more personal. At its U.S. introduction, Taamaa presented the Dottie Chair with its textured fabrics, softly rounded form and studded legs. The vivid Eyo Table »

« and complementary pouffe continued the theme of playful sophistication. The collection extended to organisers, trays, mirrors, and lively accents that make everyday living feel more vibrant. Taamaa is positioned in the mid-to-midhigh segment and answers a vital question. That is, how a thoughtful, well-crafted design can remain accessible to a broader audience without losing soul.
The launch of Madheke and Taamaa at High Point Market marks a milestone not just for Loco Design but for the representation of Indian craft on a global platform. High Point is known for its selective, international audience, which makes it an ideal stage for brands with stories as layered as these. It allows design professionals, tastemakers and collectors to encounter Indian craftsmanship in a new light, shaped by sophistication, relevance and confident modernity.
During this showcase, Madheke and Taamaa did more than introduce furniture. They introduced a perspective. One that bridges heritage with innovation. One that understands that luxury is defined not by excess, but by the quiet confidence of beautifully crafted work.
Madheke seeks multi-line showrooms that share its dedication to craftsmanship and design integrity. Taamaa is expanding across rep showrooms, omni-channel platforms,
retailers and distributors. Each brand is looking for collaborators who can help shape fresh narratives about design coming from India.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Loco Design’s evolution is its relationship with material. Over the years, the studio has explored hundreds of materials. From straw, leather and wood veneers to crafted metals, precious stones and even carbon fibre and resin. This is not a surface-level exercise. It is a rigorous, detail-oriented exploration. Straw marquetry, for instance, took years of experimentation before the studio felt it had reached the level of excellence they wanted.
Loco Design also works with a deep commitment to sustainability. The studio has operated with FSC certification in mind for decades and avoids using plastic unless necessary. Even more telling is its philosophy of reuse. In Indian culture, materials rarely end their journey prematurely. Loco Design carries that tradition forward. Metal waste is transformed into timeless jewellery pieces. Brass, stainless steel and leather find new life in different forms. Materials always have an afterlife.
The expansion into the U,S is thoughtful rather than

rushed. Loco Design’s expansion into the United States is guided by two seasoned industry figures, Laurie Burns and Valerie Berman. Burns, a product development and sourcing expert, brings years of leadership and business development experience in the USA and internationally. Berman offers a long career in marketing and product development, with seventeen years spent overseeing supply chain management and product development for Ralph Lauren Home. While tariffs and manufacturing complexities affect global trade, Singh remains unfazed. His design approach is flexible, allowing small shifts in detail, sizing or technique that help manage pricing while preserving the beauty and integrity of the finished piece. For the luxury clientele Madheke serves, quality and materiality remain paramount. For Taamaa, the ability to fine-tune design without losing essence ensures accessibility. The long-term vision is clear. Loco Design wants its brands to be recognised globally for their distinctive design language and their craftsmanship.
In a global design landscape often defined by neutrality and sameness, LOCO’s brands offer something richer. They provides cultural depth, contemporary elegance and an inventive approach to materials. “Global expansion is about more than growth—it’s about championing craft and placing it at the heart of design. At Loco Design, we see this as an opportunity to celebrate cultural heritage, sustainability,

and the artistry that defines us, bringing our brands to discerning audiences who value thoughtful, timeless creations,” says CEO & DEO Parminder Singh. Madheke and Taamaa demonstrate that Indian craftsmanship can travel the world with quiet confidence. They show that heritage can meet modernity without losing grace. And they remind the design world that luxury is not simply about objects. It is about emotion, story and intention
Loco Design’s journey from a small team of craftsmen to an international design house is a story of persistence, reinvention and pride. It is a story that reflects a deeper movement. One where Indian design stands tall on the global stage, carrying forward a lineage of artistry while embracing the future with clarity.
Loco Design creates more than furniture. It creates impact. It creates meaning. It creates work that endures long after trends fade. Because for Loco Design, design is not an industry; it is an inheritance that must always be made to matter!
The team hopes that, in time, Madheke and Taamaa will become familiar names among those who always seek what is next, refined and meaningful.

In the realm of contemporary Indian design, Ashiesh Shah emerges as a quiet revolutionary, drawing deeply from the Japanese ethos of Wabi-Sabi to celebrate the beauty of imperfection, transience, and the handmade.

As founder and creative director of Ashiesh Shah Architecture + Design, Ashiesh orchestrates spaces where restraint meets profound resonance. His portfolio reveals a masterful command of materiality, proportion, and light. An avid collector and curator, he extends his vision through Atelier Ashiesh Shah, a creative ecosystem dedicated to bespoke objects and evolving opulent craftsmanship.
In this exclusive tête-à-tête, Ashiesh Shah unveils the philosophies and subtle convictions that inform his practice, inviting us to reconsider how spaces can quietly transform the way we live, feel, and endure.
1. THE JAPANESE PHILOSOPHY OF WABI-SABI IS A CORNERSTONE OF YOUR PRACTICE. HOW DID THIS AESTHETIC FIRST CAPTURE YOUR IMAGINATION, AND HOW HAS IT SHAPED YOUR VISION FOR SPACE, MATERIALS, AND LUXURY ACROSS YOUR PROJECTS?
Wabi-Sabi resonated with me long before I encountered it as a formal philosophy. I was already inclined towards the idea that imperfection carries meaning. When I later discovered Wabi-Sabi, it felt less like an import and more like a language that articulated what I intuitively understood: that beauty lies in the incomplete, the transient, the handmade. In my work, Wabi-Sabi shapes how I think about space and material. I am drawn to surfaces that age, to materials that record time rather than resist it. Luxury, in that sense, is not about polish or permanence, but about emotional depth. It is about allowing stone to be porous, wood to retain its grain, and plaster to show the hand that shaped it.

2. YOUR DIVERSE PORTFOLIO INCLUDES HIGH-PROFILE RESIDENCES FOR BOLLYWOOD CELEBRITIES, CONCEPT STORES, AND RESTAURANTS. HOW DO YOU TAILOR YOUR MINIMALIST, SOULFUL APPROACH TO REFLECT THE PERSONALITIES OF SUCH PROMINENT CLIENTS?
I don’t approach projects through the lens of celebrity or profile. I begin by listening to the client, to the site, and to the story the space wants to tell. Personalities are layered, and my role is not to impose a signature but to create a framework where those layers can exist with clarity. Restraint becomes especially important in such contexts, as I prefer to step back and let materials, proportion, and light do the work. Over time, clients begin to see that minimalism is not about reduction, but about focus. When a space is calm and considered, it allows personality to emerge naturally rather than being performed.
3. LAUNCHING ATELIER ASHIESH SHAH IN 2017 MARKED A SEAMLESS EXTENSION INTO PRODUCT DESIGN, WITH BESPOKE FURNITURE, LIGHTING, RUGS, AND TILES ROOTED IN GEOMETRY AND MATERIALITY. WHAT DROVE THIS EVOLUTION, AND HOW DOES THE ATELIER FOSTER EXPERIMENTATION?
The atelier was conceived as an ecosystem rather than a studio. Architecture, interiors, and objects have always felt like different expressions of the same intent to me. What drives the atelier is curiosity and responsibility. It is a space where experimentation is encouraged, where indigenous crafts are not treated as fixed traditions but as living »

«systems capable of evolution. Geometry and materiality become tools for dialogue between the contemporary and the handmade. The atelier allows us to test ideas slowly, to fail thoughtfully, and to build a design language that is rooted yet relevant.
4. AS A PASSIONATE ART COLLECTOR AND CURATOR WHOSE TASTES SPAN CENTURIES AND CONTINENTS, HOW DOES YOUR ENGAGEMENT WITH ART DIRECTLY INSPIRE AND ENRICH THE NARRATIVES, TEXTURES, AND COMPOSITIONS IN YOUR ARCHITECTURAL AND INTERIOR WORKS?
Collecting keeps me in constant conversation with time. When you live with objects across centuries and cultures, you begin to understand proportion, restraint, and silence in a deeper way.
This engagement informs how I compose spaces. Art sharpens my sensitivity to texture and rhythm, to how objects occupy space without overpowering it. Curating, in particular, has taught me the value of editing and knowing when to stop. In architecture and interiors, that translates into narratives that unfold slowly, where meaning is revealed rather than declared.

IDIOM’, CURATED FOR THE G20 CULTURE WORKING GROUP, POWERFULLY SHOWCASED LIVING HERITAGE AND SUSTAINABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP. COULD YOU SHARE THE CONCEPTUAL VISION BEHIND IT?
The exhibition was conceived as a statement about responsibility. I wanted to move the conversation around craft away from nostalgia and toward relevance. ‘Sustain’ was about positioning Indian craft as living intelligence, adaptable, contemporary, and essential.
The vision was to foreground process, labour, and material honesty. Craft was not presented as ornament, but as essence. Sustainability, for me, is inseparable from craft because traditional techniques already understand ecology, longevity, and restraint. The exhibition aimed to show that when craft leads design, it sustains culture, livelihoods, and environments simultaneously.
6. CONSISTENTLY RECOGNISED ON ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST’S AD50/AD100 LISTS SINCE 2013 AND HONOURED WITH MULTIPLE ELLE DÉCOR INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS, WHAT ELEMENTS OF YOUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY DO YOU FEEL DISTINGUISH YOUR WORK?
I don’t think about distinction in terms of recognition. What»

«matters to me is the integrity of material, of process, of intent. If there is a through-line in my work, it is a restraint guided by material intelligence.
I am interested in work that does not announce itself loudly, but stays with you over time. Spaces and objects that age well, that gather memory, that remain relevant beyond trends. If my work feels distinct, I believe it is because it prioritises clarity over spectacle, and ethics over image.
7. IN 2020, YOU CO-FOUNDED THE INDIA DESIGN FUND TO BOLSTER ARTISANS AND INDIGENOUS CRAFTSMANSHIP AMID GLOBAL CHALLENGES. WHAT INSPIRED THIS INITIATIVE, AND WHAT LASTING TRANSFORMATIONS DO YOU ENVISION FOR INDIA’S DESIGN ECOSYSTEM THROUGH SUCH ADVOCACY?
The India Design Fund emerged from a moment of urgency. During the pandemic, the fragility of our craft ecosystems

became painfully visible. Artisans were vulnerable not because of a lack of skill, but because of systemic neglect. The initiative was inspired by the belief that craft must be supported structurally, not symbolically.
Long-term, I hope it contributes to a more equitable design ecosystem, one where artisans are collaborators, not footnotes; where fair compensation is non-negotiable; and where indigenous knowledge is recognised as contemporary expertise rather than heritage alone.

« conversation. My intention has always been to shift perception, to show that Indian luxury does not need to imitate global minimalism or rely on excess. By highlighting process, craft, and material intelligence, the narrative around Indian design begins to change. Luxury becomes quieter, more ethical, more rooted. If these platforms have helped foreground that perspective, then they have served their purpose.
9. YOUR PROJECTS AND ATELIER PIECES HAVE EARNED ACCLAIM IN INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATIONS LIKE THE NEW YORK TIMES, WALLPAPER, AND THE WORLD OF INTERIORS. HOW DO YOU HARMONISE GLOBAL DESIGN INFLUENCES WITH A PROFOUNDLY INDIAN SENSIBILITY?
I don’t see global and local as opposing forces, as harmonising the two comes down to specificity. When

RIGHT Pali Thai—a dramatic hospitality interior defined by layered lighting, lush greenery, and a cinematic sense of depth.
work is deeply rooted in place, material, and process, it resonates universally. I’m less interested in borrowing global influences and more interested in presenting Indian craft with clarity and confidence. The world responds to honesty.
10. WITH YOUR MULTIFACETED PRACTICE SPANNING ARCHITECTURE, INTERIORS, PRODUCT DESIGN, CURATION, AND CULTURAL ADVOCACY, WHAT ARE YOUR AMBITIONS FOR THE FUTURE?
I want to continue building work that is timeless rather than timely. My ambition is not expansion for its own sake, but depth, deeper engagement with craft, material research, and cultural narratives. If, decades from now, my work helps position Indian craft as a living future rather than a preserved past, and shows that emotional quiet can be its own form of luxury, I will feel that the practice has contributed meaningfully.

At the threshold of memory and modernity sits Umber Furniture Co. - a design studio and production house on an obsessive quest for meaningful designs. Departing from the disposable and the ordinary, Umber creates furniture that is timeless yet lived-in, refined yet intensely intimate.
Every piece designed by Umber is built to ritualise space, effortlessly blending into the daily narrative. It quietly absorbs stories, touch, and time, transforming into an integral component of everyday life.
Because homes deserve stories, not commodities, Umber’s furniture is a confluence of comfort and luxury. Inspired by intuition and driven by intention, the design language draws from the wisdom and warmth of Indian traditions while embracing the elegance and possibility of modernism. This duality of past and present, restraint and richness, forms the backbone of the studio’s identity. The result is furniture that feels familiar without being conventional, contemporary without being transient. At the heart of Umber is a team of detail-oriented design
storytellers who work closely with generations of skilled local artisans. Passed-down techniques reveal themselves in every detail, surface, and proportion. Each object is masterfully crafted with precision and a superior quality finish - an ode to local materials and technique, exploring and expressing their characteristics with pride.
The studio was founded by Niti Singhal and Nandakumar SS, whose partnership began with a conversation at a college tapri and evolved into a shared design vision. The cross-pollination of their diverse cultural backgrounds and complementary skills is embedded in every piece Umber creates. Niti, a storyteller and space maker at heart, approaches design through a deeply user-centric lens, seeking harmony between contemporary lifestyles and cultural symbolism. Nandakumar, a meticulous maker

and planner, brings a disciplined rigor shaped by global experience and hands-on precision. Together, they lead Umber with curiosity and care, shaping a practice that celebrates modern India through an international lens.
The name Umber itself reflects the studio’s design philosophy - where the boundless sky meets the deep, earthy hues of wood. Reclaimed teak serves as a foundational material, carrying within it scars, grains, and embedded histories. These traces of the past are not erased but thoughtfully extended into new textures, forms, and joineries that honor their provenance while giving them renewed purpose. The material narrative is further enriched through the integration of local materials and artisanal crafts, like hand-beaten brass, khaat weaving, wood turning, and more, interpreted through R&D and contemporary design vocabulary.
Umber’s approach values precision over perfection, believing that meaning lies in restraint and intent. Each piece opens a quiet dialogue between past and present - designed to endure, adapt, and evolve with its user. These are objects meant to be lived with, not merely looked at.
The collection is rooted in nostalgia, drawing from the co-founders’ personal childhood memories. Summer sails along Kerala’s backwaters, afternoons spent discovering

treasures in a grandma’s treasure chest, the vibrant chaos of festive gatherings, and the languid calm of a verandah armchair—all find subtle expression in silhouette, detail, and material. Memories of wandering the streets of Kochi or playing hide-and-seek around the pols and step wells of Gujarat are reinterpreted into forms that feel both intimate and universal.
Through this collection, Umber transforms personal recollections into tactile experiences, aiming to evoke a similar emotional resonance for the user. These are modern heirlooms - designed not just to last, but to hold meaning across generations- sharing and carrying forward stories yet to be lived.

As digital transformation reshapes architecture and construction, ASSA ABLOY’s Openings Studio BIM emerges as a powerful tool that brings clarity, coordination, and control to one of the most complex elements of any building project: door hardware.
Building Information Modeling, or BIM, has transformed door hardware projects by creating digital twins of buildings that place every detail into a unified, living ecosystem. Architects, engineers, installers, contractors, project managers, and all relevant contributors gain access to precise data on designs and products such as doors and locks. This connected approach reduces errors, accelerates specification processes, and strengthens sustainability efforts through waste reduction and lifecycle tracking. With teams collaborating in real time, project outcomes improve while cost savings become a natural byproduct of smarter coordination.
At the heart of this evolution is Openings Studio, ASSA ABLOY’s flagship BIM software dedicated to door openings. The platform enables users to configure schedules, select hardware, generate detailed reports, and manage queries and RFIs in only a few clicks. Seamless integration with tools such as Revit reflects ASSA ABLOY’s vision for customer-
centered solutions that support modern project workflows. Across the full project lifecycle, the company remains focused on innovation, safety, and sustainability. BIM allows ASSA ABLOY to deliver comprehensive solutions from design to maintenance, while maintaining transparency and tracking environmental impact and performance. By empowering teams to visualize assemblies early, Openings Studio helps avoid costly late-stage changes and supports the futureproofing of facilities through innovative technology.
ASSA ABLOY continues to lead the industry with unmatched BIM expertise. Its intelligent product objects arrive fully equipped with lifecycle data, helping projects achieve leading sustainability certifications. Design teams rely on these verified models to reduce errors, while contractors value the installation-ready accuracy they provide, which streamlines on-site execution. With deep integration and exceptional precision, ASSA ABLOY’s BIM ecosystem sets

a new benchmark for door hardware intelligence.
Openings Studio includes a sophisticated door builder that creates custom assemblies directly from ASSA ABLOY catalogs. Users can drag and drop frames, panels, and hardware to construct highly accurate digital models. The software automatically generates opening schedules that capture every specification detail, from sizes to finishes. Integration with Autodesk Revit pulls in live data that updates models in real time. Reporting tools export specifications in formats such as PDF and Excel, supporting downstream facility management needs. Visualization features reveal 3D clashes before they occur on site, while sustainability calculators estimate material usage and recycling potential. Every feature is designed for ease of use, allowing teams to work efficiently without steep learning curves.
Within architecture and project teams, Openings Studio streamlines workflows and reduces scheduling errors, freeing up time for creative and strategic work. Project managers track changes in real time to protect timelines and maintain momentum. Architects and interior designers operate on reliable data; engineers extract precise hardware specifications that match site conditions; suppliers place informed orders; and managers schedule and oversee every stage with clarity and control. This integrated system builds credibility in bids and strengthens long-term client relationships. ASSA ABLOY transforms complex projects into coordinated, high-performance operations.
Architects outside the firm benefit from clear, accurate visualizations in Openings Studio. Early clash detection reduces rework and protects design integrity. Custom assemblies adapt easily to project-specific visions through intuitive drag-and-drop tools. Shared models enhance
collaboration with engineers and clients, while sustainability data supports green certifications and realistic project timelines. With dependable BIM support, ASSA ABLOY delivers the precision that elevates architectural outcomes.
Contractors gain access to detailed schedules and component reports, accelerating procurement and reducing uncertainty. On-site teams use mobile views to guide accurate installation, while post-installation reports track performance and minimize callbacks.
BENEFITS
Facility managers access comprehensive asset data through Openings Studio exports. Maintenance schedules are informed by real lifecycle insights, extending the longevity of door systems. Inventory tracking prevents stock shortages during repairs, while energy metrics from sustainable models support lower utility costs. With digital twins readily available, teams resolve issues faster and maintain smoother operations.
For building owners, Openings Studio delivers tangible value through waste reduction and accurate specifications that prevent costly overruns. Sustainability tracking supports regulatory compliance while strengthening resale potential. Post-occupancy data demonstrates return on investment in advanced hardware systems, and remote performance monitoring provides reassurance to stakeholders and investors. With efficiency embedded at every stage, ASSA ABLOY places owner success firmly at the center of its BIM-driven strategy.

Aakarshan Gems & Jewellery isn’t just another name in luxury couture Jewellery; it’s a spectacular narrative of Indian heritage refined for the modern world.
Aakarshan draws from Shweta Pathak’s father’s heirloom collection of natural fancy colour diamonds and gemstones. Pathak’s vision was clear: to craft a niche label inspired by global houses like Tiffany and Harry Winston, focusing on rarity, workmanship, and timeless collectibles rather than commodity gold.
Q1: AS A SINGLE FOUNDER AKA SOLOPRENEUR SUSTAINING A BRAND MORE THAN ONE AND HALF DECADE, HOW HAVE YOU BALANCED EMOTIONAL DRIVE WITH BUSINESS GRIT, ESPECIALLY IN AN INDUSTRY WHERE WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS LIKE YOU ARE RARE?
Since Aakarshan came as a second career with my father’s gemstone collection, it felt like destiny. As an engineer and double MBA, my management skills and tech mindset helped provide clarity. Travelling globally showed me high jewellery as legacy pieces, not commodities. I aimed to be India’s Tiffany, following a lean model as a solopreneur. From my first exhibition at Le Meridien to winning Retail Jeweller awards twice and London recognition, I stayed focused without dilution.
LEFT The Oomph with kunzite and choclate diamonds
RIGHT Spritually Royal an ode to Krishna Mukut with cornflour blue sapphire with colour on its tip.
As a woman, balancing motherhood, societal acceptance, and security threats was tough - I chose shop-in-shop and online, maintaining zero debt. You have to be unbreakable, like diamonds.
Q2: AAKARSHAN STANDS OUT FOR “WEARABLE ART” OVER INVESTMENT PIECES - HOW DO YOU DIFFERENTIATE FROM MASS-MARKET JEWELLERS IN INDIA, WHERE LUXURY IS OFTEN SEEN AS LOCKED-AWAY GOLD RATHER THAN COLLECTIBLE EXPRESSION?
Our history shows gods and royalty adorned in Ratna Jadit, but capitalization turned jewellery into investment. I focused on high jewellery as collectibles. The path was hard - no family business background, early funding risks - so I delayed investors for no dilution. Events like Dubai wedding conference, Bangalore Fashion Week, and Paris Fashion Week built visibility. Femina listed us among top 21 in 2021. Taj properties carry us now. Grit kept me going.
Q3: INDIA’S LUXURY JEWELLERY MARKET
LAGS BEHIND GLOBAL PEERS IN EMBRACING COLLECTIBLE, RARE PIECES - WHY DO YOU THINK

THAT IS, AND HOW DOES AAKARSHAN CHALLENGE THE “ONE-WEAR WONDER” MINDSET?
Legacy retailers focus on common gems; rarity isn’t prioritized. Aakarshan means divine attraction - these natural gems carry it. Challenges include knowledge gaps and astrology’s role. We use neutral, enhancing gems like kunzite, tanzanite, fancy colour diamonds. Each piece is unique; I never melt unsold ones - waiting for the right connoisseur. It’s patience and belief, rewarded by features like this.
Q4: THE NEW GENERATION BRIDE SEEKS RARE, COLLECTIBLE JEWELLERY THAT TRANSCENDS WEDDINGS - WHAT TRENDS DO YOU SEE IN THEIR PREFERENCES FOR GEMSTONES OR FANCY COLOUR DIAMONDS, AND HOW DOES AAKARSHAN CATER TO THAT SHIFT FROM DISPOSABLE TO HEIRLOOM?
New brides like Taylor Swift’s old mine cut or fancy colour rings show self-worth. They set boundaries, express rather than impress. There’s a shift from 80/20 to 60/40 rule - 60% investment gold, 40% personalized collectibles defining style and rarity. Aakarshan’s ensembles match outfits; future: Burma rubies, Colombian emeralds, fancy diamonds as bold statements. Engagement rings lead, but full jewellery takes centre stage.
Q5: HOW DID SHOWCASING AT PARIS FASHION WEEK HIGHLIGHT INDIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP TO INTERNATIONAL ENTHUSIASTS? WHAT FEEDBACK SHAPED YOUR NEXT COLLECTIONS?
It was a path less travelled - a jewellery brand on a fashion

week runway. A Lakme collaboration demanded only white diamonds; we stepped back to preserve uniqueness with natural gemstones and fancy colours. The Paris invite felt like manifestation. “Colours in Life” explored contrasts: vibrant gems against minimalist structures, merging Indian heritage with international appeal. The response was powerful, affirming that Indian craftsmanship, when paired with bold vision, resonates globally. Feedback encouraged deeper exploration of colour play and rarity, shaping collections with more daring gem combinations and refined storytelling.
Q6: WHAT WOULD YOU TELL THE NEW GENERATION BRIDE TO CONSIDER WEARING JEWELLERY AS A PERSONAL STATEMENT, NOT JUST TRADITION, IN INDIA’S EVOLVING LUXURY SCENE?
To the new generation bride: know your self-worth and set high standards. Aakarshan is for women who outshine, refuse typecasting, and express rather than impress. The full jewellery suite takes centre stage, moving beyond layers to rarity that speaks volumes. Jaipur in winter is a dream woven in soft sunshine, cool evenings, and an unmistakable sense of royalty. It’s the season when the Pink City transforms into a canvas for some of India’s most luxurious weddings—where history, craftsmanship, and grandeur come together in perfect harmony.
Winter weddings here are defined by their setting. Ancient palaces, heritage courtyards, and grand stone structures become silent witnesses to vows exchanged under open skies. Carved arches, marble pavilions, and sandstone walls glow warmly as the sun dips, creating a regal backdrop that feels timeless rather than trendy. These spaces don’t just host celebrations—they elevate them.
Luxury weddings in Jaipur are also a celebration of traditional artistry. Brides often choose heritage-inspired silhouettes paired with traditional Rajasthani jewellery— polki, kundan, and uncut diamonds set in gold. Statement
necklaces, layered haars, and bold naths echo the grandeur of royal eras, while grooms complement the look with embroidered achkans, safas, and heirloom brooches. The stones, metals, and craftsmanship tell stories passed down through generations.
Décor leans towards understated opulence. Think ivory drapes, marigold accents, handwoven textiles, and antique brass details. Evenings are lit with oil lamps, crystal chandeliers, and candlelight that dances against stone walls, creating an atmosphere that feels intimate yet magnificent.
What truly sets Jaipur apart is how effortlessly it blends luxury with authenticity. From folk musicians welcoming guests to ceremonial processions and traditional rituals performed with quiet elegance, every moment feels rooted in culture while wrapped in refinement.
A winter wedding in Jaipur isn’t just an event—it’s an experience of royal living, where love is celebrated in the language of heritage, craftsmanship, and timeless luxury.

Curating Grandeur, Crafting Once-in-a-Lifetime Celebrations
In today’s India, a wedding planner is no longer just a coordinator — they are the quiet architect behind some of the country’s most breathtaking celebrations. From royal-inspired palace soirées to contemporary destination affairs, the luxury wedding planner transforms dreams into exquisitely choreographed realities. Every detail, from the first invitation to the final farewell brunch, is woven together with precision, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to elegance.
Luxury wedding planning in India is deeply rooted in storytelling. Each couple arrives with a vision — perhaps inspired by heritage, travel, or personal milestones — and it is the planner’s role to translate that narrative into a fully immersive experience. Through bespoke décor, thoughtfully designed ceremonies, curated entertainment, and flawless guest management, every wedding becomes a signature production rather than a template celebration.
What truly distinguishes an elite wedding planner is their mastery over scale and subtlety. Indian weddings
can host hundreds, sometimes thousands, of guests, yet the experience must still feel intimate, seamless, and indulgent. Behind the scenes, meticulous logistics, detailed timelines, and highly trained teams ensure that every transition flows effortlessly, allowing the couple and their families to remain immersed in joy rather than coordination.
Luxury weddings also demand a deep understanding of craftsmanship — from selecting rare flowers and customdesigned mandaps to orchestrating couture-level styling and fine-dining experiences. Planners collaborate with the country’s finest artisans, designers, and performers to create environments that feel both grand and deeply personal.
Above all, a wedding planner in India is a guardian of emotion. They manage not just events, but expectations, family dynamics, traditions, and memories. When the final fireworks fade and the last song is played, what remains is not just a beautifully executed celebration, but a timeless story — carefully, quietly, and masterfully curated.

Where couture bridal wear and statement jewellery redefine modern celebrations
Luxury weddings in India have evolved into grand celebrations that blend age-old traditions with contemporary elegance. Today’s high-end Indian weddings are spectacular affairs that prioritize bespoke experiences, intricate aesthetics, and sartorial splendour for both men and women. From destination venues to curated ambience, couples and families are embracing personalized luxury that reflects their cultural roots while showcasing modern sensibilities.
A standout aspect of luxury weddings is the focus on bridal wear that merges craftsmanship with innovative design. For women, traditional silhouettes such as lehengas and sarees are being reimagined with rich textiles, delicate embroidery, and subtle colour palettes beyond classic reds — including pastels, metallics, and jewel tones. Artisanship is key, with handcrafted detailing like threadwork, zardozi, and beadwork elevating each ensemble into wearable art. Many brides are opting for couture pieces that tell a story, incorporating heirloom motifs and bespoke tailoring to ensure a perfect fit and a standout look on the big day.
Men’s wedding attire is also experiencing a renaissance.
While classic sherwanis and bandhgalas remain popular, contemporary cuts, luxurious fabrics, and thoughtful embellishments are redefining grooms’ fashion. Men are increasingly choosing ensembles that balance traditional silhouettes with modern aesthetics — such as asymmetrical drapes, subtle embroidery, or tonal layering — creating a sophisticated and regal presence.
No luxury wedding look is complete without jewellery that complements the attire while making a statement. For brides, elaborate sets that combine heritage designs with contemporary elements are trending, featuring intricate craftsmanship and premium gemstones. Men are embracing jewellery that’s refined yet bold — from elegant cufflinks and brooches to statement rings and necklaces that add character and prestige to their ensemble. Couples are also coordinating jewellery styles to harmonise their wedding looks, underscoring the importance of cohesive elegance.
In essence, India’s luxury weddings are a celebration of culture, creativity, and personal expression — where bespoke bridal wear and exquisite jewellery play an integral role in curating unforgettable moments.

Narayani Weaves by Ramya is shaped by a philosophy that sees handloom not merely as a craft but as a language of precision, patience, and provenance. Ramya works directly with skilled artisans, collaborating closely with weavers from Kanchi, home to the legendary Kanjivaram silk, and Kota, known for its distinctive woven heritage.
Every creation is exclusive to this handloomspecialised brand. Designs are never repeated, ensuring each piece remains singular and deeply personal. To achieve this level of refinement, looms are customised to the brand’s design requirements, enabling complete control over motifs, borders, zari placement, and proportions. Authentic raw materials are used across all woven products, reinforcing Narayani Weaves’ commitment to integrity and craftsmanship.
Personalisation lies at the heart of Narayani Weaves. Clients commissioning a Kanjivaram saree are invited into a considered design process, choosing colours and motifs that reflect their individual sensibilities. The loom itself becomes a keeper of memory, with names, marriage dates, or special occasion dates woven directly into the saree or
dupatta, transforming each piece into a lifelong heirloom. This bespoke approach extends to couple outfits, where matching motifs are custom-woven so both partners share a unified visual language. Men are equally included through custom-woven yardages, allowing them to experience the richness of handloom craftsmanship in garments created exclusively for them.
Narayani Weaves also brings a refined sensibility to Kota textiles through close collaboration with Kota weavers. The brand creates Kota sarees alongside panelled lehengas that challenge conventional construction.
Its innovative lehengas are woven from 16 individual panels, each with a continuous pattern, eliminating the need to stitch a saree into a lehenga. This preserves the integrity of the weave while achieving architectural elegance. Each lehenga is presented as a complete set, with the matching

blouse and dupatta woven alongside it, ensuring harmony across the ensemble.
Time is treated as an essential luxury. Each custom set takes approximately two to three months to weave, reflecting the care, skill, and meticulous attention invested at every stage. Every piece is woven with a commitment to quality and perfection, honouring the traditions that define true handloom artistry.
Narayani Weaves offers lehengas in two distinct styles: traditional lehenga panels and pleated lehenga designs. Both silhouettes are entirely handwoven, allowing clients to choose between classic structure and fluid elegance without compromising on craftsmanship.
What truly sets Narayani Weaves apart is its Complete Woven Set, a holistic expression of handloom luxury. Each ensemble is fully custom-woven, comprising the lehenga, blouse or choli, and matching dupatta. Zari tones, motifs, and design elements are coordinated at the weaving stage itself, resulting in a seamless, one-of-a-kind composition where every element speaks the same design language.
The brand’s vision extends beyond bridal wear. Narayani Weaves also offers exquisitely woven kurta sets crafted in traditional Kanjivaram silk, featuring thoughtfully designed necklines. These pieces make the richness of the weave accessible for smaller events, poojas, and elegant
gatherings, allowing handloom luxury to be experienced in more intimate settings.
Kanjivaram, or Kanchipuram, is globally revered as the epitome of South Indian weaving artistry, celebrated for its luxurious silk and intricate, contrasting borders. For many North Indian patrons, however, this exquisite weave has traditionally been experienced primarily as a saree, often excluded from core wedding rituals.
Narayani Weaves set out to change this narrative. By meticulously adapting the legendary Kanjivaram weaving technique into lehengas rich in pure zari and steeped in traditional design, the brand integrates the opulence of Kanchipuram silk into the North Indian bridal trousseau and festive wardrobe. The result is a thoughtful evolution of tradition, allowing a new generation to celebrate heritage in forms that feel authentic, refined, and enduring.

Travel these days often feels like a chase - more places, more photos, more stories to tell. But what if the real point was to slow down, empty out, and start again? India’s detox retreats do exactly that, pulling you into places where the air is thick with herbs and the days run on a different clock.
Panchakarma, the backbone of many of these getaways, isn’t a quick spa treatment. It’s a deliberate unravelling - oils poured over the forehead in shirodhara to quiet racing thoughts, herbal steams that draw out the day’s weight, gentle massages that loosen what you’ve been holding. You eat simple: rice, mung dal, ghee, and vegetables cooked soft. No caffeine, no wine, no late nights. Just food that feeds without asking for much in return.
The settings help. Kerala’s backwaters let the world drift by while you lie still. Himalayan foothills bring sharp air and silence that presses in. Even closer to cities, retreats tucked in Maharashtra valleys or Goa’s quieter edges offer enough distance to feel unplugged.
You leave lighter - not just in body, but in headspace. The noise that followed you on the flight home fades. Habits shift. A week of clean eating makes you notice how coffee used to jolt you. Sleep comes easier. The reset isn’t dramatic; it’s steady, the kind that sticks.
These places aren’t about perfection. They’re about giving yourself permission to pause, flush out the clutter, and walk away with a little more room to breathe. Some retreats lean into Ayurveda’s ancient texts, others mix in yoga or forest bathing, but the thread is the same: strip back to what matters. You return to the city with sharper senses, noticing the small things again - the way light hits a leaf, the taste of a meal without rush. It’s not a vacation; it’s a recalibration, one that makes the everyday feel possible again.

In the late 16th century, a visionary leader from the Qutub Shahi dynasty stood on the banks of the Musi River, envisioning a future city that would become Hyderabad. Under his reign, artisans were summoned to craft architectural marvels that celebrated the city’s growing grandeur. This rich background, marked by creative patronage, still resonates through the architecture, etiquette, and cultural sophistication that define Hyderabad’s character today.
The city reveals itself slowly, through detail rather than declaration. Strolling down Laad Bazaar, you catch the rhythmic clang of a metalworker at his craft, the chime of glass bangles resonating in the air. A vendor, face creased with stories of old, offers a knowing smile as she wraps the vibrant silks for your purchase. Nearby, two old friends exchange laughter over a meal, their conversation mixing with the aroma of freshly ground spices. In Hyderabad, history does not sit behind velvet ropes, but flows through streets, kitchens, and conversations with remarkable continuity.
The old city unfolds as a living archive. Around Charminar, the city’s most recognisable landmark, everyday life unfolds amid centuries-old structures. Markets brim with bangles, bidriware, textiles, and pearls, commodities that once travelled royal trade routes and continue to sustain artisanal economies. Narrow lanes lead to bazaars alive with texture and sound, metalwork catching light, textiles absorbing colour, fragrances of spice and attar drifting through the air. A short distance away, the Qutub Shahi Tombs rise in measured symmetry, their domes and terraces offering both architectural gravitas and rare quietude, a reminder of Hyderabad’s deep engagement with art, design, and memory. Craft traditions continue not as curated heritage, but as necessity and pride, sustained
by generations of skilled hands.
Cuisine is inseparable from the city’s cultural fabric. Hyderabadi kitchens reflect courtly origins and regional exchange, favouring slow cooking, layered spice, and balance over heat. Biryani here is not simply a dish but a ritual, defined by fragrance, texture, and technique. Haleem, rich and restorative, speaks of long hours and communal kitchens, while Irani cafés preserve a gentler rhythm of life, where conversation lingers over tea and baked bread.
Beyond its historic quarters, Hyderabad has emerged as one of India’s most dynamic urban tech centres. Its contemporary districts reflect global ambition, yet the city resists anonymity. Public art, performance spaces, and cultural festivals ensure that tradition remains visible, evolving rather than receding. Classical music, literature, and craft continue to hold social currency alongside innovation and enterprise.
What sets Hyderabad apart is its composure. It carries its past without nostalgia and embraces progress without haste. The result is a city of rare balance, cultivated rather than curated, where heritage and modern life exist not in contrast, but in seamless dialogue. Courtesy, multilingualism, and a distinctive sense of humour shape social life, reinforcing Hyderabad’s reputation for warmth beneath its formality.

In the hush before sunrise, the mountains stand as timeless sentinels, their peaks touched by the first blush of dawn, while the valleys below are still cloaked in shadow. The only sound is the faint rustle of leaves, carried by a gentle breeze that signals the coming day. It is in this serene moment that Himachal Pradesh reveals its quiet authority, shaped by altitude, season, and restraint.
The region’s diversity reveals itself across valleys and elevations. In Kullu, apple orchards and riverbanks frame a pastoral rhythm, while higher up, alpine meadows and glacial lakes offer moments of startling stillness. Hill towns such as Shimla and Dharamshala reflect layered histories, from colonial-era planning to monastic traditions, each adding texture without overwhelming the land itself. Elsewhere, lesser-known hamlets and forested trails invite deeper engagement with the environment, rewarding patience and attentiveness.
Himachal’s cultural life is rooted in continuity. Homes are built from stone and timber to withstand the climate, and traditions are preserved through festivals, folk music, and communal rituals tied closely to agricultural cycles. Simplicity here is neither aesthetic nor performative; it is practical, shaped by geography and necessity. This grounded way of living lends the region its quiet dignity.
The cuisine reflects this relationship with land and climate. Meals are nourishing and elemental, built around
grains, lentils, dairy, and seasonal produce. Dishes such as slow-cooked meat preparations, steamed breads, and chickpea-based stews provide warmth and sustenance, while river trout and foraged greens speak to local abundance. Tibetan influences are evident in parts of the region, adding layers of comfort through broths and dumplings suited to high-altitude living.
Himachal lends itself naturally to slow, experiential travel. Walking trails, forest paths, and mountain roads encourage presence over progress. Wellness here is not curated, but absorbed, through clean air, physical movement, and long stretches of quiet.
This is a destination that does not compete for attention. It offers something rarer: perspective, calm, and a deep sense of place shaped by nature’s enduring authority. Stay an extra day and let the silence answer you, transforming admiration into a personal journey. Allow yourself the luxury of lingering in the tranquility, witnessing how Himachal’s quiet allure deepens with time.

At Aahana Resort, winter brings together private luxury and the immediacy of the forest. Surrounded by restored wilderness and located fifteen minutes from Corbett’s Dhela and Jhirna zones, the season unfolds through unhurried villas, considered dining, and compelling wildlife encounters.
Winter arrives gently at Aahana Resort. The air sharpens, the forest deepens in colour, and time itself seems to slow, settling into a quieter, more deliberate rhythm. Set on the edge of Jim Corbett National Park, Aahana is where luxury lives in conversation with nature rather than apart from it. Spread across 13.5 acres of regeneratively restored forest, the resort is enveloped by more than 4,500 trees and animated by over 250 bird species. Here, traffic jams take on an entirely different meaning, measured not in horns and haste, but in wings, calls, and quiet wonder.
This is a season when the landscape feels alive yet restrained, when mornings carry mist and afternoons glow softly under winter sun. Aahana’s setting allows guests to experience this shift intimately, offering a rare, considered, and deeply restorative sense of immersion.
Winter is when Aahana’s private villas come into their own. Each four-bedroom villa is conceived as a self-contained
private estate, offering complete privacy while maintaining a close connection to the outdoors. At the centre of every villa lies a temperature-controlled private pool, inviting guests to swim even as winter mornings unfold around them. Finished with Italian Bisazza tiles, these pools feature hydrotherapy loungers and jacuzzis, transforming every soak into a ritual of quiet indulgence.
Life here unfolds unhurriedly and with intention. A dedicated butler oversees each stay, anticipating preferences and shaping itineraries with a personal touch. Afternoons drift by with croquet on sunlit lawns or friendly matches at the pickleball court. As evening falls, the tempo softens further. Bonfires are lit, private grills are set, and chef-curated five-course menus are served beneath open skies. On clear winter nights, guests gather on their decks to stargaze, the forest settling into a hushed stillness, broken only by distant calls echoing through the trees.
Dining at Aahana remains firmly rooted in the land that surrounds it. Much of what arrives on the plate is grown steps away in the resort’s organic gardens. Winter harvests inspire thoughtfully prepared meals that balance freshness with comfort, indulgence with simplicity. It is a form of luxury that feels warm, grounded, and deeply personal, allowing flavour and provenance to speak without excess.

Beyond the villas, the wilderness of Corbett begins almost immediately. Aahana shares a boundary with Jim Corbett National Park, placing guests within easy reach of two of its most celebrated safari zones, Dhela and Jhirna, both just fifteen minutes away.
This winter has been particularly compelling. In Dhela, tiger activity has reflected shifting dynamics, with dominant males expanding their territories and a tigress navigating the delicate task of raising two cubs. Watching her hunt, mark territory, and guide her young through the forest offers a powerful reminder of nature’s precision and resilience. Jhirna, too, has been alive with movement, home to two tigresses with litters of two and three cubs. Already known for their healthy tiger populations, these zones have been shaped this season by motherhood, instinct, and survival.
Dhela and Jhirna also lie along important elephant corridors, adding another dimension to winter safaris. Herds move through the forest with quiet authority, while leopards, deer, and an extraordinary range of birdlife complete the ecosystem. It is a landscape in constant motion, where no two drives unfold the same way, and every sighting tells a new story.
What defines winter at Aahana is the seamless balance it achieves between cultivated comfort and untamed wilderness. Guests return from early morning safaris to

warm breakfasts, spa rituals, and fireside afternoons. The rawness of the forest sharpens the sense of luxury, while the comfort of the resort allows the wild to be experienced with ease.
In winter, Aahana becomes a place of contrasts that feel effortlessly aligned. Stillness and excitement. Refinement and rawness. Privacy and proximity to one of India’s richest natural habitats. It is a season when the forest reveals itself slowly, and luxury is felt not in excess, but in intention.

RAJASTHAN
Nestled in the rugged Aravalli hills of Tehla, Utsav Camp Sariska emerges as a sustainable wildlife camp in Rajasthan bordering the iconic Sariska Tiger Reserve. Utsav Camp Sariska offers accommodation in Indian safari-style lodges, including Stone cabins, Forest Bungalows, and Forest Villas. This 18-key wildlife camp, nearly equidistant from three famous North Indian cities, i.e., the Golden Triangle, namely Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra, was envisioned by qualified hotelier and naturalist Luv Shekhawat to promote eco-luxury travel in Sariska, inviting guests to reconnect with the wild through mindful travel experiences, including horse rides and safaris to the Sariska National Park. These excursions, amidst an oasis of slow living, redefine regenerative tourism in India and wilderness retreats in Asia, making Utsav Camp Sariska a must-visit for adventure seekers.
Utsav Camp Sariska’s heritage-inspired eco-lodge story began in 2011 on barren land in Rajasthan’s Aravalli region when Luv Shekhawat, an eco-hospitality pioneer in India, had a vision. Shekhawat was inspired by his grandfather, the late Mr. Sampat Singh Shekhawat, a revered forest officer who preserved Sariska through sustainable development. The camp underwent four years of ecological
restoration, nurturing the soil and terrain, before opening closer to Gate No. 2 of the Sariska Tiger Reserve in Tehla, Sariska, Rajasthan, in 2015. Its mission is rooted in heritage and regenerative travel, rejecting scale for substance, as Shekhawat declares, ‘Not the biggest, but the best and most sustainable’. This value-driven ethos turned a desolate plot into a beacon of responsible tourism.
Crafted from local stone and wood, Utsav Camp Sariska’s Stone Cabins, Forest Villas, and Forest Bungalows exemplify sustainable design retreats. Using passive cooling and natural contours, these pet-friendly eco-lodges with lowimpact structures immerse guests in the wilderness without disturbing it, ensuring tranquillity. Signature nature-based experiences include guided nature walks revealing hidden flora, boulder sundowners with cocktails amid dramatic rocks, horse safaris across the Aravallis, starlight dinners under starry skies, birding excursions for rare species, and zero-mile dining with fresh fare. Each promotes slow travel in India, letting travellers savour Rajasthan’s wild heart mindfully while basking in eco-friendly stays.
Sustainability defines Utsav Camp Sariska’s off-grid living

with 419 kW of solar power, enriching operations every day, saving over 200 tonnes of CO2 annually for carbon-neutral stays. Organic kitchen gardens support eco-conscious cuisine, while composting and water recycling minimise waste. Every choice, from the biodegradable amenities to the energy-efficient designs, reflects environmental consciousness and community inclusion. Shekhawat says, ‘We aim to heal the land and inspire others.’ This camp, which offers regenerative travel in India, restores ecosystems and sets a standard for sustainable travel destinations in Asia.
The Sariska Tiger Reserve shapes Utsav Camp Sariska’s identity with rising leopard and tiger populations symbolising conservation travel in India. The wildlife conservation experiences allow guests to witness these creatures and gain a deeper appreciation for wildlife protection. The camp drives responsible tourism in Rajasthan by providing local employment, preserving cultural heritage, and empowering communities through skill-building. Tehla and Sariska emerge as hubs for experiential community-based travel where visitors support preservation, ensuring tourism benefits nature and people in harmony.

India’s only luxury resort where history comes to life : Fort JadhavGADH
IF you want to go back in time, you do not need a time machine anymore. A trip to India’s only resort inside an 18th century Maratha fort will quench your thirst to live like a royal and submerge yourself in the glistening history. The Fort JadhavGADH-A GADH heritage Hotel, which is a perfect blend of Indian culture, heritage and luxury in the heart of plush greenery, will transport you from the urbanisation to the era of Maratha legacy. Spread across the 4.5 acres of land which was once a stronghold of Maratha army lieutenant Pilaji Jadhav, the 300-year-old Fort JadhavGADH in Hadapsar Pune is a place where simplicity meets royalty offering culture and luxury together where stories and memories are made.......
In a chat with FOUR Mr. Vishal Kamat, renowned hotelier and entrepreneur, shared his love and insights on the place that he calls magical. His passion and pursuit for preserving Indian heritage and his humility are the first things to notice on meeting him. The second, a sparkle in his eyes while talking of his accomplishment of being the proud owner of Fort JadhavGADH resort that mesmerized even Rajneesh (Osho).
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TRANSFORM THIS HISTORIC STRONGHOLD INTO A LUXURY HERITAGE RESORT?
ABOVE
I fell in love with the place when I was 24-years-old and had visited the place with my father in 2005 when the royal family approached him. I was in awe of the fort and its historical significance. It’s a fantasy. We do projects which give you satisfaction and money of course, but, seldom something comes along that can inspire a generation.
LOOKING BACK AT YOUR JOURNEY WITH FORT JADHAVGADH, WHAT HAVE BEEN THE MOST DEFINING MOMENTS—BOTH PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY—IN BUILDING AND NURTURING A HERITAGE DESTINATION OF THIS SCALE?
Ans: It has not been easy. When I was working on the restoration, particularly in the year 2013 to 2015, I learnt a lot of things about myself because there were a lot of challenges at that time. The resort wasn’t doing as well compared to the present. I was constantly working on how to make it a place that creates experiences, a different story altogether for the patrons. When you stay at Fort JadhavGADH, you should come to appreciate and understand and enjoy the history, the nature and the entire overall environment. You should appreciate all aspects and the thought of the creators of the fort....the detailing and intricate designing to get a feel of the era that was.

HOW DOES FORT JADHAVGADH OFFER GUESTS AN AUTHENTIC MARATHA HERITAGE EXPERIENCE BEYOND JUST ACCOMMODATION?
Ans: It is a complete experience detached from the modernisation. The Britishers destroyed many forts, However JadhvGADH survived as it was the residence of the royal family. Now It has 57 rooms where guests can relax and immerse themselves in luxury and get pampered. Aai, the museum especially transforms the guests with display of an array of artifacts collected by my father which date back to 300 years given to him by families in the ‘wada’. The fort is so fascinating that in the late 70’s Rajneesh (Osho) had stayed here and meditated for hours in the dungeon on the property but he handed it back to the descendants of Pilaji Jadhav before we were approached.
IN YOUR VIEW, HOW IMPORTANT IS HERITAGE HOSPITALITY IN SHAPING INDIA’S LUXURY TOURISM NARRATIVE TODAY?
Ans. Hetritage is an intricate part of my life, the Kamat’s have kept that alive in Fort JadhavGADH. People often misunderstand a fort to be just ruins but here history comes to life. Foreigners too are attracted to this place and we love to show it off. We have weddings here and even film shootings.
AS A HOSPITALITY LEADER, HOW DO YOU BALANCE SUSTAINABILITY, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT,

AND LUXURY AT A HERITAGE PROPERTY LIKE FORT JADHAVGADH?
Ans. As an Indian, hospitality is the in our culture. We have done our best to give our guests the experience that they can carry with them for a lifetime with comfortable rooms, verity of food that are preferred by our guests with various activities within the walls.

NILGIRI HILLS
Set amidst the misty Western Ghats and rolling Nilgiri hills of South India, The Tamara Coorg and The Tamara Kodai redefine luxury through gentle, nature-infused wellness sanctuaries.
Luxury today is about intention, slowing down, reconnecting, and choosing spaces that allow both body and mind to recalibrate. Nestled within two of South India’s most restorative landscapes, The Tamara Coorg and The Tamara Kodai emerge as thoughtful sanctuaries where wellness is lived gently, shaped by the rhythms of nature and guided by an understated calm. These properties invite guests to step away from the frenzy of modern life, embracing a philosophy where restoration unfolds naturally, without force or fanfare. True opulence lies not in excess, but in the quiet art of presence.
At the core of both resorts lies The Elevation Spa, a signature space that embodies this gentle approach to well-being. Drawing from time-honoured Ayurvedic traditions and refined therapeutic techniques, the spa delivers treatments focused on balance, release, and profound renewal. Each ritual is intuitively personalised, performed with a quiet attentiveness that prioritises deep relaxation over mere indulgence. Beyond the spa doors, wellness permeates
the day as morning yoga sessions encourage mindful movement, while meditation and pranayama practices carve out pockets of stillness. Temperature-controlled pools provide year-round serenity, serving as havens for gentle laps, leisurely floats, or simply contemplative pauses.
The Tamara Coorg amplifies restoration through its vast, immersive setting across 184 acres of lush coffee plantations and dense forests. This expansive terrain fosters a profound sense of openness and seclusion, where wellness is inextricably linked to nature’s embrace. Guests wander private trails beneath towering canopies, breathing in the earthy scent of rain-kissed soil, or linger in shaded groves for unscripted moments of solitude. Yoga and meditation unfold in dedicated pavilions designed for grounding and focus, while open lawns and the inviting pool encourage unwinding at one’s own rhythm. In Coorg, even idle hours beneath the trees become acts of rejuvenation, fostering a deep, unspoken reconnection with the natural world.
In contrast, The Tamara Kodai, perched high in the misty hills of Kodaikanal, offers a wellness journey rooted in

inclusivity and shared joy. This elevated retreat draws families and travellers into an uplifting yet grounding environment, where connection flourishes alongside personal reflection. Yoga sessions welcome participants of all ages, spaces spark meaningful conversations, and the temperature-controlled pool transforms into a perpetual oasis for play or repose. Enveloped by swirling mists and endless skies, Kodai weaves wellness into communal moments as seamlessly as solitary ones, creating an atmosphere of warm ease that feels both invigorating and intimately comforting.
What elevates both properties is their masterful ambience, where architecture and interiors recede gracefully into the background. Natural materials, including wood, stone, and woven textures, dominate, bathed in soft, diffused light and framed by expansive views. This deliberate restraint allows the senses to unwind naturally, without distraction, as the design whispers rather than proclaims, cultivating environments where calm settles effortlessly. The Tamara Kodai welcomes family bookings, embracing shared joy, while The Tamara Coorg is an adults-only property, preserving a serene, intimate hush.
Ultimately, The Tamara distinguishes itself through profound respect for individual rhythms. There is no rigid itinerary or imperative to participate, only the freedom to

curate one’s own renewal through a bespoke spa treatment, a sunrise yoga flow, a tranquil swim, a forest stroll, or the exquisite luxury of absolute stillness. In this autonomy resides the truest renewal. Whether enveloped in Coorg’s verdant beauty or Kodai’s mesmerising heights, these resorts offer a refined well-being that is intuitive and unhurried. Shaped by nature’s wisdom and intentional pause, the experience lingers far beyond departure as a subtle invitation to carry home the art of presence, reset, and quiet transformation.

Gaggan Anand doesn’t chase perfection - he chases the next bite, and the world keeps following.

Gaggan on the pass LEFT The “Gaggan” building
Gaggan Anand grew up in a modest family far from culinary circles. A rock drummer in his youth, he pivoted to cooking after family encouragement, training at IHM Mumbai, and the Taj Group. In 2007, he became the first Indian to intern at elBulli with Ferran Adrià, mastering molecular gastronomy.
Opening Gaggan in Bangkok in 2010, he fused Indian flavors with experimental techniques, earning two Michelin stars and Asia’s 50 Best top spot five times (2014-2018), peaking at No. 4 worldwide. Closing Gaggan in 2019, he launched Gaggan Anand, ranking No. 6 globally in 2025. His empire includes stakes in Sühring (Michelin-starred German cuisine), Ms. Maria Gaggan at Louis Vuitton (fashionmeets-food), and GohGan in Japan (Indian-Japanese fusion). Awards include Chefs’ Choice (2023) and mentoring in S. Pellegrino Young Chef.
At 47, Anand rejects fine dining’s formality, preferring casual soul food, and plans a no-camera 15-seater. His story - from Kolkata streets to Bangkok stardom - highlights how music’s energy fuels culinary innovation, with humility as
his guide: “Passion, curiosity, and humility.”
YOU WENT FROM PLAYING DRUMS IN KOLKATA TO BECOMING THE FIRST INDIAN CHEF TO INTERN AT ELBULLI. WHAT MADE YOU LEAVE MUSIC FOR THE KITCHEN, AND HOW HAS THAT ROCK-AND-ROLL ENERGY STAYED WITH YOU?
It’s always been a part of me to be involved with rock and roll because I think music is a part of my life, and I translate the energy of rock and roll into my food. RnR is not about looking like a hipster but about making people forget their worries - all music, not just rock and roll. My genre is rock and roll, but music, in general, is a bigger chapter of my life.
IN 2019, YOU WALKED AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL GAGGAN RESTAURANT AT ITS PEAK. SIX YEARS LATER, GAGGAN ANAND IS NO. 6 IN THE WORLD. WHAT DID THAT DRAMATIC RESET TEACH YOU ABOUT SUCCESS AND CONTROL?
It taught me how to be a person who doesn’t just believe in success but also accepts that failure is a part of it and is »

“We make people feel young at heart. We give them the magic of theatrical cooking without using gizmos. There’s seriousness in the food. We just play with the experience.”

«the first step towards success. You will have good years and bad. We live in an eccentric world of food media. I look at how I can change my future with my food and be free from accountability, reporting to people, free from everything. In 3 months, we’re going to redo the restaurant again.
THE NEW PLACE WILL HAVE 15 SEATS AND NO CAMERAS ALLOWED. WHAT IS THE REASON BEHIND THAT?
The new era of foodies is engrossed in their cameras. Sharing photos of the experience ruins the surprises we have in store for future guests. I want people to celebrate food and not just celebrate their cameras. I was bored of getting 1.5 years of messages from everyone saying they’re influencers and they want to visit the restaurant.
YOUR CURRENT RESTAURANT HAS ONLY 14 SEATS
AND BOOKS OUT MONTHS IN ADVANCE. WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS DURING ONE OF THOSE DINNERS THAT MAKES PEOPLE CALL IT THE HARDEST TABLE ON THE PLANET?
We make people feel young at heart. We give them the magic of theatrical cooking without using gizmos. There’s seriousness in the food. We just play with the experience. Think of the experience as a sitcom where every course flows from the last, and at the end, you take away a story.
YOU’RE FAMOUS FOR TURNING STREET FOOD LIKE LICKABLE CHAAT AND YOGURT EXPLOSIONS INTO MICHELIN-STAR DISHES. HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHICH CHILDHOOD FLAVORS DESERVE A PLACE ON A 25-COURSE MENU?

BANGKOK HAS BECOME ONE OF THE WORLD’S GREAT FINE-DINING CITIES PARTLY BECAUSE OF YOU. WHICH NEWER RESTAURANTS HERE EXCITE YOU RIGHT NOW, AND WHERE DO YOU PERSONALLY GO WHEN YOU’RE NOT COOKING?
I’ve started hating fine dining. I can’t be in fine dining anymore. The older I get, the more I appreciate casual food, with everything on the table, and to eat as much as I can. Maybe that’s because I’m a part of fine dining cooking. You don’t have to listen to your own songs - as simple as that. I look for comfort, soul food. I treat it as a road to discovery. I just take my car out, and wherever I see a queue, I stop to eat.
YOU HAVE STAKES IN SÜHRING AND MS. MARIA
ALONGSIDE YOUR OWN PLACE. HOW DO YOU BALANCE RUNNING VERY DIFFERENT CONCEPTS WHILE KEEPING GAGGAN ANAND AT THE VERY TOP?
Sühring is an independent restaurant. I’m just a minority shareholder, secret investor (not a secret anymore), and friend. Ms. Maria does very well - it is a casual dining space above Gaggan where you people come to enjoy the food and the easier version of me without the tantrums of all the demands of Gaggan. And then you have Gaggan at Louis Vitton is a fashion statement of cooking.
INDIA IS FINALLY GETTING SERIOUS GLOBAL ATTENTION FOR PROGRESSIVE CUISINE. WHICH YOUNG INDIAN CHEFS SHOULD THE WORLD BE WATCHING IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?
I think Varun Totlani and Shehzad Hussain are two of them who are going to go big!

YOU RECENTLY SAID AI COULD KILL COOKING IF WE LET IT. DO YOU REALLY SEE TECHNOLOGY AS A THREAT, OR CAN IT ACTUALLY HELP CREATIVE CHEFS LIKE YOU?
No, it is not a threat, but it will never help us. If cooking becomes AI, what is the purpose of a chef? Are we really in this threat to humanity where our nose, eyes, and taste have to be AI? We can leave AI to solve problems in national security, medicine, the treatment of cancer, and calculating the most impossible numbers, but it should not come to food and art. Imagine if AI becomes art, why would we spend money on paintings? Let it create a waterproof paint instead. There’s a limitation of technology, and it shouldn’t be involved in food, including wine menus.
WHEN YOU’RE NOT IN THE KITCHEN WHITES, HOW DO YOU UNWIND? FAVORITE CITY TO DISAPPEAR IN, FAVORITE DRINK, FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND A RARE DAY OFF?
I go to a city called Fukuoka in Japan, where I have a restaurant called GohGan. It’s like my second home, so I travel there once a month to de-escalate. The restaurant is a restaurant in collaboration with a Japanese chef, Tsuyoshi Fukuyama. Both of us have created an Indian-Japanese casual Izakaya. We keep changing our menu due to Japan’s
seasonal nature. One of the best things is the Fried Chicken, which is a blend of Japanese Karage Chicken and Chicken 65, with all its spice. We call it the GohGan Fried Chicken.
THERE ARE RUMORS ABOUT PROJECTS IN TOKYO AND AN EVEN MORE EXCLUSIVE RESTAURANT. CAN YOU SHARE ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT’S COMING NEXT?
No, there’s nothing in Tokyo.
IF SOMEONE READING THIS WANTS TO EAT AT GAGGAN ANAND ONE DAY, WHAT’S THE ONE THING THEY SHOULD KNOW BEFORE THEY SIT DOWN?
Leave your ego and your arrogance behind. Become a commoner.

Mon Dimora does not define luxury through extravagance. It represents luxury through craftsmanship, not speed; emotion, not excess. It is the kind of opulence that does not shout but shimmers.
Some brands sell products, and others ignite atmospheres. Mon Dimora belongs entirely to the latter. It does not present tableware as accessories to a meal; it presents them as heirlooms of emotion and artistry. It invites the modern Indian home into a world shaped by European ateliers, generational craft, and the quiet magnificence of thoughtful design.
“At Mon Dimora, we’re curating a world where fine craftsmanship meets timeless elegance.” This sentiment forms the spine of the brand. It reads like a promise, yet behaves like a philosophy: every plate, every vessel, every contour holds the weight of lineage.
Co-founders Manvi Jain and Neha Singh built Mon
ABOVE Assortment of porcelain plates from Italy
Dimora not from commercial ambition but from instinctive romance. Their journey began with a simple realisation. India was brimming with global brands, yet its homes lacked access to true artisanal tableware, the kind shaped in intimate workshops in France, Italy, and England. The kind painted by hands that have inherited their craft across generations. The kind that transforms dining into a sensorial theatre. And so, they stepped into that gap, not as traders, but as curators.
Even the brand name is a soft hush of poetry. Mon means my. Dimora, meaning home.
A whispered invitation into a personal sanctuary where beauty is not displayed but lived.

Every brand within their collection “has been lovingly handpicked from across the globe for its artistry, heritage, and impeccable design so our customers can experience the finest expressions of tableware, all in one place.” These are pieces chosen the way a connoisseur selects wines with the patience of a collector, the intuition of an aesthete, and the reverence of someone who understands the emotion behind an object.
Most partner ateliers are family-owned. Their works are not manufactured; they are inherited. Clay becomes memory. Porcelain becomes devotion. Glaze becomes generational storytelling. Gold detailing becomes a signature that belongs not only to a brand but to a lineage.
On one’s table, these pieces carry the subtle drama of European landscapes. The blush of berries stamped on a winter plate recalls English countryside evenings. The warmth of Tuscan shades, the restraint of Parisian lines, the glow of hand-blown glass, each piece is a fragment of a continent placed gently into an Indian home. Despite the long journey and transcontinental shipping, Mon Dimora boasts zero breakages, a testament to their carefully engineered, sustainable packaging.
But it is not merely about import. It is about emotion.
Within the brand’s ecosystem, Manvi and Neha operate as a perfect duality. Manvi crafts the visual and sensory world of Mon Dimora, its narrative, its packaging, its quiet allure. Neha builds the strategic foundation, giving the dream weight, scale, and discipline. Their partnership mirrors the pieces they curate: expressive yet precise, romantic yet structured.
Their collection is a gallery of artistic conversation. From delicate Red Berry Plates with soft green leaves, to the ivory-white Wintertale Plates edged in gold; each piece feels like a poem in clay.

“Our vision is to create the ultimate destination for exquisite dining pieces, where every detail speaks of beauty, tradition, and refinement.” The vision is expanding now into candle stands, cutlery, and decor accents that carry the same artisanal purity. Each addition is another chapter in the story the founders are writing with measured grace.
Mon Dimora brings back the lost pleasure of laying a table with care. It encourages a slower, more intentional way of living, where dining becomes a moment to savour rather than rush through. In its world, beauty is not an accessory to life but an anchor.
And when a table is dressed with such craftsmanship, it becomes an atmosphere. The porcelain holds its maker’s quiet devotion, the glass gathers light with poise, and every piece speaks in whispers of elegance. At a Mon Dimora table, one does not simply eat; one inhabits a space where artistry and emotion meet, turning everyday living into something exquisitely refined.

Elevating an ancient Arabian treasure into a global emblem of refined indulgence for over three decades.
Founded in 1991 by Dr Ziad Al Sudairy in Al Ghat, Saudi Arabia, Bateel remains the world’s only fully vertically integrated gourmet date brand that owns more than 120,000 organic palm trees. It hand-harvests every date at peak ripeness, crafts exquisite fillings and chocolates, and presents them through Café Bateel’s successful network of 22 restaurants across the region and Bateel Boutiques with more than 170 locations in 25 countries worldwide. In India, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Hamza Patel has established Bateel as the ultimate destination for discerning customers who value authenticity, sophistication, and thoughtful gifting.
INNOVATIVE & DELECTABLE DELIGHTS
The journey begins in the groves of Al Ghat, where each palm is nurtured organically from its first offshoots.
Teams hand-pollinate the flowers, meticulously thin the bunches by up to 70 per cent so the remaining dates grow larger and sweeter, and protect them with ventilated bags until multiple harvests capture perfect maturity. Premium varieties, including Kholas, Segai, Sokari and Medjool, emerge naturally plump, bursting with potassium, magnesium, iron, B-complex vitamins, antioxidants and fibre whilst remaining completely fat-free and cholesterol-free with only natural fructose sweetness.
From these exceptional dates, Bateel creates pioneering indulgences: filled dates with almonds, pistachios, orange peel, or ginger; luxurious date chocolates and truffles; Biscuits. Signature packaging and fully customisable collections transform every box into an expression of elegance. Available across nine Indian cities and online, Bateel delivers heritage, health, and luxury in perfect harmony.

Q&A WITH HAMZA PATEL, MANAGING DIRECTOR & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, BATEEL INDIA (AP GROUP)
Q: WHAT MADE BATEEL THE PERFECT ADDITION TO AP GROUP’S LUXURY PORTFOLIO?
A: Bateel stands alone in gourmet food because it controls every stage from organic grove to boutique counter. When we experienced the extraordinary size, texture, and flavour of their dates, combined with groundbreaking innovations in fillings and chocolates, we knew Indian connoisseurs would embrace a brand that offers genuine authenticity wrapped in sophisticated presentation.
Q: HOW HAS THE INDIAN MARKET EMBRACED BATEEL’S OFFERING?
A: The response has exceeded expectations. Dates already carry deep cultural resonance in India, yet customers instantly recognise Bateel’s superior quality and craftsmanship. Whether for personal indulgence, weddings, or corporate gifting during Diwali and other celebrations, our fully customisable Gift Sets have become the preferred choice for those seeking meaningful, healthy & luxurious gestures.
Q: WHAT TRULY DISTINGUISHES BATEEL FROM OTHER PREMIUM CONFECTIONERY BRANDS?
A: Absolute purity and complete vertical integration. Every date comes from our own palms, grown organically without chemicals or added sugar, harvested by hand at peak ripeness, and transformed in-house into exquisite creations. This unmatched control, paired with stunning packaging

and personalisation options, delivers an experience that is, as our tagline states, Discover the Difference.
Q BATEEL’S FILLED DATES AND CHOCOLATES INNOVATE ON TRADITION. WHAT FEEDBACK FROM INDIAN CUSTOMERS HAS SHAPED NEW FLAVORS OR FILLINGS?
A: Indian customers gravitate towards flavours that feel familiar yet elevated. There is a clear appreciation for natural sweetness paired with premium nuts like pistachio and almond, along with subtle citrus notes such as orange peel. This preference has inspired creations like Kunafa chocolates and thoughtfully balanced fillings that reflect festive Indian tastes while remaining true to Bateel’s Arabian roots.
Q: WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR BATEEL IN INDIA?
A: We will continue expanding thoughtfully into new cities whilst deepening personalisation through enhanced online platforms and exclusive limited-edition collections that honour Indian festivities alongside Arabian heritage. Bateel will open additional locations, and we will keep introducing innovations that delight the senses, ensuring every encounter with Bateel remains an unforgettable celebration of taste, tradition, and timeless luxury.

FOUR Magazine speaks with Sharmilee Chopra, Founder and Creative Director of FTS by Sharmilee, on redefining luxury through craftsmanship, restraint, and profoundly personal design. With over three decades spanning bespoke furniture manufacturing and interior design, she reflects on leadership, longevity, and the evolving meaning of luxury today.
1. WITH OVER THREE DECADES IN LUXURY FURNITURE AND INTERIORS, HOW HAS YOUR IDEA OF LUXURY EVOLVED, AND WHAT DEFINES IT TODAY?
My idea of luxury has shifted from visual impact to lived experience. Now, it’s about how a space performs and ages, not just its first impression. Luxury is found in restraint, personal style, and daily function. At FTS, this means craftsmanship, material quality, and timeless design.
2. FTS BY SHARMILEE INTEGRATES BESPOKE FURNITURE WITH INTERIOR DESIGN. HOW DO YOU BRING THESE TOGETHER TO CREATE DEEPLY PERSONAL SPACES?
At FTS by Sharmilee, furniture and interiors are integrated from the start. Crafting our own pieces lets us respond to each client’s lifestyle and needs, with interiors developing naturally around these anchors. This ensures every space feels cohesive and truly personal.
ABOVE DLF Camellias Residence
3. YOUR WORK BLENDS GLOBAL INFLUENCES WITH LOCAL SENSIBILITIES. CAN YOU SHARE A CULTURAL ENCOUNTER THAT SIGNIFICANTLY SHAPED YOUR DESIGN THINKING?
While traveling, I focus on how design is woven into daily life and the feelings it evokes—whether in Milan, Japan, or Jaipur. The unique atmosphere of each place inspires me more than direct style references.
4. HOW DO YOU BALANCE LEADING A MANUFACTURING FACILITY AND A DESIGN STUDIO WITHOUT COMPROMISING ON EXCELLENCE?
Design and manufacturing are deeply connected for me. Being involved in both grounds creativity in process and feasibility. Leading as a woman has made me more detail-driven, disciplined, and collaborative. With strong systems and teams, I focus on turning design ideas into crafted outcomes.

5. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE EXPECTATIONS OF DISCERNING CLIENTS WHILE MAINTAINING YOUR DESIGN INTEGRITY?
Working with clients requires clarity and trust. We learn how they live, not just what they like, letting us balance their expectations with our sensibility. We remain true to our aesthetic by making informed choices that serve clients and uphold quality and relevance.
6. CAN YOU SHARE A PROJECT WHERE MODERN TECHNIQUES AND TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP CAME TOGETHER UNEXPECTEDLY?
We seek projects where traditional methods support modern design. At Zoii, a custom brass screen door— designed precisely but handcrafted traditionally—anchored a modern space, showing how modern processes and craftsmanship combine to create lasting pieces.
7. HOW DO YOU ENSURE EACH FTS CREATION EVOKES EMOTION AND TELLS A STORY UNIQUE TO ITS OWNER?
For us, luxury is about resonance, not display. We consider who the client is, how they live, and the space’s character, then carefully choose materials, details, and scale. This ensures each piece feels rooted, creating a sense of belonging and emotion.
8. WHAT HAVE BEEN THE KEY LESSONS IN ASSERTING CREATIVE AUTHORITY AS A WOMAN LEADING A HIGH-END DESIGN ENTERPRISE?
Leading here has taught me clarity and consistency matter. Creative authority comes from knowledge and followthrough, not force. Delivering with integrity builds trust. As a woman at the helm, I value quiet confidence, discipline, and long-term thinking.
9. HOW DOES FTS INTEGRATE SUSTAINABILITY INTO LUXURY INTERIORS WITHOUT COMPROMISING OPULENCE?
At FTS, we design with purpose, maximizing the potential
of every raw material to minimize waste and environmental impact. Our furniture is crafted to last; ensuring clients don’t need frequent replacements, while every detail is thoughtfully considered for durability and timelessness. By combining material efficiency, quality craftsmanship, and enduring design, we create interiors that are both responsible and luxurious, where opulence is defined through longevity and careful attention rather than excess.
10. WHAT LEGACY DO YOU HOPE TO BUILD THROUGH FTS IN REDEFINING HOW LUXURY IS EXPERIENCED AND LIVED?
Through FTS, we hope to create a legacy where luxury is deeply human, something that feels purposeful and lived-in. By pushing design boundaries while maintaining timelessness, crafting spaces that enrich daily life. Our goal is to shift how opulence is imagined: not as spectacle, but as thoughtful, lasting experiences that connect people with their surroundings in meaningful ways.

Founded in 2019 by Principal Designer Shaentelle, Space Styling is not merely a studio but a philosophy. Operating as 'The Comprehensive House of Style', the firm has shifted the paradigm from mere decoration to holistic curation. Their practice is built on a deep understanding and the rigorous pursuit of detail, translating a client's life journey into an environment of elegance, serenity, and timeless relevance.
The Projects:
A Quiet Grandeur (Residential): A 25,000 sq. ft. exercise in cohesive luxury. The project required a rigorous interior recalibration to unify the structure’s vast scale. Through bespoke styling and strategic spatial planning, the team transformed the expansive volume into a fluid, intimate oasis that flows seamlessly from one space to the next.
The Gilded Vault (Retail - Jewelers): A departure from retail glitz, this showroom embraces 'Warm Minimalism'. Eschewing stark lighting, we curated a heritage-inspired reserve using soft neutrals. Tactile elegance, antique artifacts and matte fabric busts, allows the intricate jewelry to take centre stage.
Space Styling is currently engineering a proprietary curation model to grant their clientele unprecedented access to global resources. This upcoming launch will ensure the journey from concept to reality operates with a level of precision and exclusivity previously unseen in the region.
On Thoughtful Styling: It is the art of translation. We listen to the unspoken and translate the client’s essence into a physical space that feels like their own legacy.
signature ‘house style.’ Our singular mandate is to uncover the most elevated, yet profoundly genuine, expression of the client.
Q: How does ‘Thoughtful Styling’ di er from traditional design? Traditional design focuses on the shell; we focus on the soul. It is the meticulous curation of the invisible—the flow, the light, the resonance of a material.
Q: What defines your ‘Comprehensive’ approach?
We are the single author of the narrative. From the first interior line to the scent in the air, we curate the entire sensory experience.
Q: How does a collaboration begin? It starts with a conversation about narrative, not just needs. We prioritize projects where there is a shared vision, ensuring that we can fully commit our resources to crafting a space that is truly personal.
Ultimately, Space Styling is not just designing for the present, but curating for permanence. In a world of fleeting trends, the studio remains steadfast in its pursuit of the enduring—creating spaces that do not just shelter a life, but honour it
