1014 Fire Drills, Disaster Drills, Lockdowns and Emergencies Students learn about the Academy’s emergency procedures a n d evacuation ro ut es to be followed in the event of a bomb threat, fire, or tornado. Perfect silence on the part of each student is expected during each of these drills. Fire drills are held regulary Evacuation routes are posted in every classroom. When the fire alarm sounds, students should exit quickly and quietly, according to the teacher's instructions. When emergency conditions have been declared in St. Lucie County, such as severe weather (i.e., hurricanes, tornadoes, and/or flooding), school may be closed. St. Andrew's Episcopal Academy will follow the action of the St. Lucie County Public Schools. Listen for announcements on local radio and television stations. The Academy will attempt to contact all of our families through RenWeb's Parent Alert (text) as well. There may be times when the Academy chooses to close even if the public schools are open. This will be in the interest of student safety and you will be notified accordingly. EMERGENCY EVACUATION PLAN FIRE EVACUATION Please Refer to the Emergency Map Posted in Every Classroom PLEASE REMEMBER, Emergency binders are located in every classroom and in the front office in a three ring binder. Binders are updated every year by staff prior to students returning to campus. Classroom Teachers/Assistants: All radios must be on channel 1. Please take the class that you are with to the East side of the field. Line your class up and have them stand quietly. Radio to “BASE Rally Point #(__) GREEN” if all students in your grade group are with you. Radio “BASE Rally Point #(__) RED” if any of your students in your grade group are missing. LOWER SCHOOL: Upon exiting the building head towards South Open field area on to courts. Business Manager: Check front office bathrooms, open east gate on south field, help on the field. Receptionist: Serve as “Base”, turn it to channel one, and record information from radios and/or personnel contacts. Head of School or Designee: Turn your radio on channel one, open gate on east side of field. Admissions Director: Turn your radio on channel one, open black playground gate, and assist students in crossing Melody Lane to sidewalk. 23 | P a g e 8/1/2015 Revised Family Handbook
