How to Save Water Water, it's one of the most important resources on earth. You can survive a month without food but only a week without water, our bodies are made of 60% percent water, we need water to grow our food, we need water to give us energy, and to grow our grass. But unfortunately water is the most overlooked, under appreciated resource in the world. This is why water conservation is so important. People often don't care about the importance water conservation has on our ecosystem, water has more value than oil. While there is enough water to sustain the earth, water isn't properly distributed around the world. An example of this would be California is having a fire and there's a lack of water to put the fire out, so neighboring states often have to come in to give California water. In desert states and cities such as Nevada, Salt Lake City and Arizona, water is more scarce and needs to managed and taken care properly otherwise there will be deadly consequences for us all. Here are ways to save water in Salt Lake City and reduce a few bills.

1. Buy a low flush toilet- Utah households flush the toilet 5,000 times next year. If you buy a modern dual flush toilet you'll be able to save gallons of water per year. Modern dual flush toilets use just six litters of water instead of just 13 liters with just a normal toilet. Do you know how much money this will save you?!

2. Spend less time in the shower and track your time. - Do you ever track how long you stay in the shower? With every minute you spend in the shower you use about one gallon. Try cutting your time in the shower, even buying a new shower head would dramatically cut water uses and save you thousands per year. 3. Try steaming your veggies. - Streaming your veggies will not only maintain more natural nutrients but it also saves water! If you need to boil water try using the leftovers for watering plants or use it for next time you boil certain vegetables. 4. Catch the rainwater- Did you know that installing water butts conserves 5,00 liters of water every year? Even your plants will be thanking you for giving them rainwater instead of tap water. You could also cut the use of water by 33% if you decide to water plants manually instead of using automatic sprinklers. Another great way to save water while gardening is to water plants in the evening or early in the morning, this will stop sunlight stealing water from the plants and possibly make them grow better. As you can see, Water conservation is much easier to do than you originally thought. There's a variety of ways to save water and some are better than others. Either way you still lower your bills and make the planet a better place. Simple tricks like these can really help us make a difference if we all do them together.
