MASTER GRADUATION THESIS Reshaping HaNoi’s socialist collective housing neighbourhood 2017 Location Hanoi- Vietnam
Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam with with its rich cultural historical values and dynamic layers of architectural environments, is witnessing a enormously rapid urbanization in last 30 years since the economic reform. This phenomenon has carried on a tremendous urban construction, especially in residential area. The rapidly housing needs of Hanoi residents is always one of the most important debate in this city. This thesis has paid attention in analysis the socialist collective housing system in Hanoi which was based on Soviet housing system ‘microrayon’. Although these residential types played significant roles in resolving the housing needs in government subsidized period from the early 1960s to the late 1980s, the outdated and degraded both in the qualities of building construction and the designing approaches lead to these building types have no place to stay longer and need to be redeveloped. The case study area is the old collective living quarter Nguyen Cong Tru, Hanoi- closed to city center, built from 1963 with 6-haarea which supported for 4200 residents, and now increase to 9300 people living in this area. 14 apartment blocks in this spontaneous residential area are over-populated and illegally dramatic changed due to informal building addition and interior renovation built by owners themselves to adapt better their contemporary living requirements. 2

ARCHITECTURE OF INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIO The Network and the Public Interior. Cairoli Connects 2016 Location Milano- Italia The main content of the scheme is aimed to not only the interior design for one of the subway station in the center of Milan but also find directions to make a connection between pedestrian network in shopping malls and the Metro passengers. Direction of our design is to create continuity for walking streets axis between Via Dante and Castello Sforzesco. Besides, the underground square and the “Elip” plaza foudation improve the experience of space for citizens.
connects. This is a case of Hadrian’s Villa meeting the Pantheon, an underground monumental villa positioned on the axis between Via Dante and Castello Sforzesco, following and elaborating the monumental axis, with an underground promenade running right through. All very entertaining, and in a way, all dependent on the character of detail, which changed a lot during the development of the project, shifting between a ‘pure’ materialisation independent of the Albini system and materialisation completely subservient to that system.

In a way, this was a dilemma that was never fully resolved, and it would have been so much better if you had an extremely clear view as to what the character and atmosphere of the station was. This would have helped with the unique episodes between the exedral fountains and under the statue, and on the piazza itself, which was never really explored. That would have been fascinating: peering down into an archaeological dig which contained all the movement of a metro station. A set of monumental rooms and paths. materialised in stone. Monumental stair to Castello.”

By creating “common” and “uncommon” spaces connecting residential with courtyards between building blocks, the publice ground floor for shoping and a flexible private courtyards in the 1st level. By this way, we can increase the association between people in this area and the residents living in the same building as well as to develope opportunities for next 30 years.
