favourite excursion spot, as it stili is today. The most famous of the seven viaducts built by Mimar Sinan in the 16th century is the Moğlava Viaduct. This viaduct is not just a piece competent engineering but an architectural masterpiece of aesthetic
beauty. Unlike the Bozdoğan Aqueduct which is right in the city centre witn lanes of traffic streaming under its arches, the Moğlava Aqueduct is off the beaten track, hldden among meadows near the Belgrade Forest. Only the curıous take the trouble to seek it out, although it is the most
beautiful of them all. The inelining planes of its masonry reflect the light in varying patterns according to the angle of the sun . Like a single cut gemstone it is a source of constant fascinatı o n.
