Human Interaction Sketch

Trug Narrative and Ritual Project My chocolate addicts hunting basket is inspired by my odd obsession with hiding chocolate, safe for me to find later as a welcome surprise. The basket itself is slip cast earthenware shaped to replicate a traditional flower or Easter basket in keeping with my chocolate theme. The silicon base is then formed to allow the chocolate collected to be shaped into keys, creating a use for an overload of chocolate.

Twin

SCP Live Project The twin table - designed for small scale living - enables tables to be used for their two main purposes: Display and functional use. The hierarchy of a shelving unit is mirrored in the levels of the table, allowing your display items such as plant pots or candles to be perched above, in the space otherwise named redundant over the more functional platform below.

Digital Render

Although initially appearing all to be very similar, these models and sketches explore the varying potentials for having two table attached to each other. A slight overlap and variety in height is most clearly needed, and the mixture of two different shapes also acts as a visual queue that the two surfaces have different purposes.

Context

Treatments centres like Maggies centre in Nottingham and The circle at the QMC in Nottingham have begun to design waiting areas to feel more homely and welcoming. A movement towards comfort and relaxation can clearly be seen and encouraged when designing for these kinds of areas. ‘Support’ is designed to full-fill these new requirements by encouraging comfort and support from a companion.

Calm

Personal Development Project An oil burning diffuser to calm and sooth. Studies show that smell is a leading trigger for memories, and therefore has the capability to calm the body. ‘Calm’ allows the user to easily change the oils and therefore scent based on their mood and levels of anxiety.

Elements

Oil Holder

Glass Lid

Bamboo Base

To prevent the user having to wash all elements of the diffuser to change the oil, they can instead remove this element alone. The user could also own multiples of this element, all containing different oils to match varying moods.

The glass lid sits on-top of the bamboo base to hold the oil container. Being glass enables you to see how much oil is left in the pot without having to remove it.

A bamboo base has a lip to lock on the glass top once a candle has been placed inside. The gap in the base allows the candle to be relit if it were to go out, as well as enabling it to be blown out when finished without having to touch the hot parts.
