Highlights Men’s Rowing Qualifies for IRA National Championship, Captures Dad Vail Medals The men’s rowing team capped off one of its most successful seasons with a strong effort at the 2017 IRA National Championship. The Hawks qualified three boats for the regatta and placed 19th overall at the event which was held on Lake Natoma in California. It marked the Hawks’ first appearance at IRAs since the current qualification format began in 2009. The men also took home a pair of gold medals (Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8) and one silver (Varsity 8) at the Dad Vail Regatta, finishing third in the point standings and combining with the women’s team to place third overall.

Women’s Rowing Shines at Dad Vail, Competes at Henley Regatta The women’s rowing team posted stellar results at the Dad Vail Regatta finishing second in the women’s point standings, after winning a gold medal in the Freshman 8 and bronze in the Varsity 8. The women also combined with the men’s team to finish in third place overall. The team then concluded its season by competing in the Senior Eight and the Double Skulls at the Henley Women’s Regatta in London. It marked the third time SJU raced at the prestigious event and the first time since 2010.
