CLASSICAL CURRICULUM

The classical core curriculum is a complete classical Christian curriculum that emphasizes the traditional liberal arts of language and mathematics and the cultural heritage of the Christian West as expressed in the great works of history and literature. The curriculum has an early focus on the basic skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic, and a special emphasis on Latin. Latin is the best way to gain an academic vocabulary, to learn the formal system of grammar, and is, along with math, the best early critical thinking skills training. The curriculum’s study of the cultures of Athens and Rome, as well as Biblical and Church history, is designed to provide a basis for a proper understanding of European and American history.

Grandparents Day

STAFF

– Unknown.

The staff of St. Joseph is excited to get back into the routine of the school year. It has been such a joy getting to know the students over the past month. We look forward to continuing growing in faith, knowledge, and love alongside the students this school year.

“A grandparent is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend.”

Students had special guests this past month as grandparents came to have a meal and see the classrooms of our students. Thank you to all the grandparents who came to St. Joseph. It was a great day spent sharing God’s love.

PRINCIPAL’S NOTE

Students and Families, I am blessed and honored to continue serving St. Joseph Catholic school. The entire St. Joseph staff is committed to excellence and has an unmatched passion for meeting the needs of all students and their families. I believe educators should work together as a team, with teacher, administration, students, parents, and community, supporting and encouraging one another to meet and surpass our daily goals, which I can assure you this is happening.

GIRL’S VOLLEYBALL

Our A and B Girls’ Volleyball teams have been hard at work practicing and playing games these past two months. Our staff vs student volleyball game will be October 8th and our homecoming game in celebration of our 8th graders will be October 11th. Come and cheer on our Lady Mustangs!

CLASSES IN ACTION

Each grade is exploring a variety of topics at St. Joseph from Kindergarten learning about Johnny Appleseed, second grade working on projects about the states in our Union, and 4th grade writing about the Native American tribes of Texas. Keep on growing in faith, hope, love, and knowledge!

“Closing our eyes to our neighbour also blinds us to God.” (Pope Benedict XVI, Encyclical — Deus caritas est, 25 December 2005)

Two weeks ago, students, staff, families, and the community came together to play some BINGO. We had a great time sharing in fellowship and cards. Congratulations to our winners! We hope to see you at our next BINGO on November 9th.

Watching the news and reading the headlines, we may feel helpless seeing the heartbreaking lack of respect for human life. How do we respond? Changing the culture is a process of conversion that begins in our own hearts. When we encounter Christ, experience His love, and deepen our relationship with Him, we become more aware of our own immeasurable worth and that of others. His unchanging love is the source of our God-given dignity, which, therefore, cannot be taken away. When someone is facing great trials, we need to walk with them on their journey, intercede for them, and be open to sharing Christ’s love however He directs. We simply need to follow where He leads.
