Huge Auction Thank You!

Easter Blessings for You

On Saturday Night, about 140 supporters of San Jose Christian School got together at the Campbell Community Center to enjoy some fellowship and raise money for our school. The specific causes for this year’s event included 40 laptops, network infrastructure improvements, and lego robotics kits for a new summer and after school program.

As we move through Holy Week, we pray that the richness and depth of Christ’s death and resurrection will wash over you and fill your soul. Easter is the culmination of all that we believe and the joy that we share with others. Christ is risen indeed!

In planning the event, our different needs totaled just under $70,000. With the auction proceeds still being totaled today, we have brought in over $84,000—our highest amount ever! We praise God for His provision for our school, and we thank you for your generosity! If you see Betsy Phillips or other members of the auction planning team this week, please congratulate them for a job well done.

Join the SJCS Association Each May, we hold the annual SJCS Association Meeting in which our Association members vote in new trustees and approve the budget for the upcoming school year. Association membership is available to anyone over 18 who has a love for SJCS and supports the school’s statement of faith. Annual dues are $10. Last week, a membership application was attached to the Tiger Tracks, and more forms are available in the office. If you are already a member, you can respond to the email form you’ll receive this week. This year’s Association meeting is Monday, May 12 at 7pm in the SJCS Auditorium.

Easter break begins this Friday. On Friday, extended care is not available, but during the week after Easter, it is open from 7am-6pm each day.

CPTA Meeting Thursday If you’re interested in the work of our CPTA group or you want to support the efforts of that team as they close out this school year and plan for next year, come to the CPTA meeting in the Auditorium at 8:40am on Thursday.

Tiger Tracks SJCS Q3 Honor Roll

Girls Soccer Starts Strong

Attached to the Tiger Tracks today is the Honor Roll for 3rd Quarter. For student security and confidentiality, that attachment will not appear in the online version of the Tiger Tracks.

Congratulations to our girls soccer team for opening their season with a bang last week. The girls took down Achiever Christian by a score of 6-3 for the victory. Thanks to Mr. Tigue and Mr. Salmons for stepping up to help coach the team.

SJCS Summer Camp Looking for a great summer experience for your child? Look no further than our very own SJCS Summer Camp! Flyers for summer camp are available in the office, and the full glossy brochures will be available later this week.

This week, the girls travel to Baymonte Christian for a 3:30pm game on Wednesday. The team will be dismissed early that day at 2:30pm.

Teacher Tales Check this section each week for exciting stories of teachers doing great things in the classrooms of San Jose Christian School.

3rd Graders Get Techie at the Apple Store Mrs. Jackie DenOuden, SJCS 3rd Grade teacher, is one of the technology mentor teachers at SJCS. She is always working to infuse technology into her curriculum and helps other teachers do the same. One example of technology supporting curricular content, along with cross-curricular connections happened last week. The third graders began reading the classic Mr. Popper's Penguins two weeks ago. In the classroom students been doing individual research on penguins and combining their efforts to create a shared Google Doc. During art class they drew penguins in their habitats, painting them with watercolors and tempera paints. Last week they took a field trip to the Apple store to create Keynote presentations. Students worked in partners to create a Keynote presentation of six slides with the help of the Apple Store employees. The Apple store preloaded our class content onto their computers, so these Keynote presentations included student research done in class, images of the students' artwork, other pictures of penguins. Students received T-shirts and Silicon wristband bracelet USB drives with their presentation to take home with them. This was best Apple store field trip yet!

There is also a game at Campbell Christian on Thursday at 3:30pm with no early dismissal required. Practice will run from 3:15pm 4:45pm on Monday and Tuesday.

Fine Arts Festival 5/2 The week we return from Easter Break, our 5th-8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in the Fine Arts Festival at Central Valley Christian School in Visalia. The transportation arrangements and scheduling for the event will begin this week. Look for communication from Mrs. Singh.
