Solomon & Jourdan's Adoption Profile

HELLO THERE! We are Jourdan, Joseph & Solomon and wanted to take the time to thank you for wanting to learn more about us. We're an affectionate, fun-loving family in Central Texas. Quality time is a love language of ours and we're usually always together.

We were placed with Joseph through domestic infant adoption when he was 5 weeks old and went straight into practicing attachment parenting which is based on frequent touch and reassurance. We baby-wear and don't believe in crying it out. We had absolutely no issues bonding with each other. We also practice conscious parenting, we understand that children have their own emotions and feelings and we do our best to help our son navigate those feelings.

We also help foster independence by allowing Joseph to make small decisions about things like which cup he's like to use or what color shirt he wants. We believe this will help him become a decisive adult and have great decisionmaking skills.

Jourdan and Solomon have been together 12 years and married for 7 years.

Adoption has always been a part of our parenting plan, it was never a last resort option. We knew we wanted to adopt before we were even engaged.

We are hoping to adopt a healthy, African American/Black or Bi-racial baby. We are also open to twins and have no gender preferences.

OUR STORY We met on May 22, 2010, after a night out on the town. Neither of us wanted to go out but our friends convinced us and at the last minute, we decided to go. Jourdan saw Solomon coming towards her and she waited for him to get close enough to speak.

June 1 was our first date and we quickly became inseparable. We spent the summer getting to know each other and fell in love.

April 26, 2013, Solomon proposed at in a private birthday celebration for Jourdan. The wedding was 2 years later at a beautiful venue in Houston, Tx on May 22, 2015, surrounded by friends and family. We were so happy to become 'one' on the anniversary of the day we met. Our grandmothers officated the wedding.

HOME SWEET HOME We closed on our second house in May 2021. We're in a quiet suburb north of North Austin, Texas. There is a playground and community pool a 5 min drive from our house. Jourdan often walks there with Joseph to play. There is a community pool across the street where Joseph will learn to swim this summer.

There are a few other parks within 10 minutes of our house that we alternate visiting and recently had a play set and play house installed in our backyard.

There is an elementary school that is 5 minutes from our house but Jourdan plans to homeschool. We have made friends in the neighborhood with families that have kids that are close in age with Joseph.

Seeing him form friendships at such an early age has been amazing to watch. Now that we have a play set in the backyard friends come over a few times a week for play dates. He attends gymnastics at a local facility and we plan to get him started in an organized sports team soon.

Our home is two stories with 4 bedrooms, an office, media room, a game room loft and an open concept kitchen to living and dining. The living room has huge windows that look out to a spacious backyard with covered patio. We still own our townhouse in Florida and rent it to tenants.

ABOUT ME Hello, I'm Jourdan! Self-proclaimed awkwardly awesome individual. I am the second oldest of 5 and the "mini-mom" of the bunch. I am a portrait photographer & most importantly, a stay-at-home mom. Me being a stay-athome mom was something I always wanted growing up. I have a very chill personality and due to moving a lot as a kid can get along with almost anyone.

I'm what I like to call an "introverted extrovert" because I had to learn how to make new friends constantly but I'm perfectly content with hanging out at home. I love being a mom & look forward to adding another baby to love on.

ABOUT ME Hello, I'm Solomon! I would describe myself as caring, respectful, and hardworking. I am physically fit and take my health very seriously, both my grandfather and great-grandfather lived into their 90s and I plan to do the same. I am very hard-working and driven and plan to instill those same qualities in our children. My parents and grandparents supported my passions and I will do the same with our children. I truly value my relationships with family and friends, they know they can always count on me. I love being a dad and can't wait to add another baby to the mix. We have a lot more love to give.

We met Joseph when he was two weeks old, he came home with us at 5 weeks & has been the light of our lives every day since. He was placed with us through private adoption with an agency in Florida when we lived there. His adoption was closed before we agreed to the placement. We do talk to him about his adoption and when we met him so he'll never "find out" later.

Joseph is often described as "sweet" and "happy".

He is very inquisitive and curious about things and how they work. He loves building things and helping to season food when we cook. He is such a joy to be around and we are truly blessed to be his parents. He is so sweet with other kids, like our neighbor's baby & will make a great big brother.

HANDS ON: Neither of us were in daycare and both expressed the desire for our children to be home with a parent. Jourdan is a stay-at-home mom and starting home school preschool with Joseph. We have a lot of fun places we visit to get out of the house and experience new things. Jourdan is not a "sit on the bench" mom, she climbs the playscapes, indoor playgrounds, and jumps at the trampoline park with Joseph.

RESPECT: We were raised as different religions but our core beliefs are the same.

Solomon's parents are Muslim and Jourdan was raised non-denominational Christian.

We will raise our child(ren) to be tolerant and be accepting of those with different belief systems, ethnic backgrounds, and walks of life. While neither of us is religious, we plan on teaching our child(ren) about religion to help guide them in life. We believe having a strong moral compass is important.

EDUCATION: We understand that everyone learns differently and enjoy nurturing the passions of our child and encouraging him to never stop learning. We will help them plan for and pay for college in the major of their choice. If they wish to start a business after graduation we will help guide them towards success.

FAMILY: We both come from big families and spend a lot of time with them. We are very close to our parents, siblings, and their children. Family always comes first and we always take care of each other.

HEALTH: We both had active childhoods and will make sure our child(ren) do the same. Joseph is very active: we attend gymnastics, ride bikes, take walks and stay active. We watch what we eat for the most part but still make sure to enjoy amazing foods.

EXPERIENCES: We live in a big world and believe we do ourselves a serious injustice if we don't go out to see and learn about other locations. We have a travel bucket list and want our child(ren) to experience other cultures. Joseph already loves to travel.

LOVE: Solomon's father always says the best thing you can do for your child is pick the right parent for them. We believe that parents that love and respect each other is a great example for child(ren) to see. We're a very affectionate family and love to snuggle up on the couch to watch movies or read Joseph a book.

FUN: Life is short! You should enjoy it as much as you can and kids should enjoy being kids for as long as they can.

Joseph loves to jump in puddles, play in sand and explore. There are so many opportunities to learn and have fun.
