Mechanical Engineering Association (SMEA) its, first “National level Innovative working model competition", on 27april 13 at SISTec campus. The winners of NIRMAAN 2K13 was team of SISTec from ME 4th semester, They Presented a working model on “Thermal Power Plant” which received a cash prize of Rs 25,000/-. Second prize was awarded to team from LNCT who developed a working model on “Wire robotic Arm with Wireless camera’’. With the over flowing enthusiasm of audience at Open air Amphitheatre SISTec- Gandhinagar the atmosphere became energetic at the night of 28thFeb. 2013. The students and other Staff Members witnessed the most hilarious moments of their life. Dr. Kumar Vishwas has been gifted with amazing oratory skills, as he makes everyone dance at his tunes by making one think, act and laugh. According to him one should excel in what one likes irrespective of what others think of it. With Dr. Vishwas presence, hour seemed like moments. With heavy heart came moment of separation by final vote of thanks from College President Mr. Shashi Ranjan. SAGAR FIESTA-2013 Sagar Fiesta 2013, pinnacle of perfection, a state level techno-cultural fest is an epitome of cultural and technological growth of our country started on 28 th February and concluded on 2 nd March 2013. The fest provided an opportunity to the students to exhibit their creativity, erudition and flair in various fields. The first day witnessed overwhelming participation of students from colleges around Bhopal. The activities conducted on this day were Robo Race which got awesome response from students as there were 40 teams to fight against each other, but it was team from Truba College who were declared the winners. Junkyard tested the Mechanical skills of students, as they were given parts of cycle and they had to assemble them to create working bicycle, which was successfully done by team consisting Mr. Sachin Sahu, Mr. Kunal Rao, Mr. Devsingh Rathor and Mr. Mahendra from SISTec. At the same moment computer lab was busting with new ideas, of upcoming web developers who had to complete their task in limited time and trophy was bagged by Ms. Divya Sahay. Web warrior trophy was taken away by Mr. Aakash Gupta. Brain Storm was a quiz competition to test the General knowledge of participants; the team from SISTec-E got 2 nd price and winner for the event was team from UTD RGPV. Ad Mad Show competition was organized, for engineering students to give them an opportunity to showcase their creative in presenting an advertisement. The winning team was Ms. Preeti Singh, Ms. Pooja Chaurasia, Ms, Shweta and Ms. Suman from SISTec. Team Comprising of Mr. Sanjay Sharma and Mr. Shubham Kumar from SISTec won 2


1 price in Video graphy. All these events came under the category of Technical events coordinated by Mr. Satyendra Thakur. On the second day the students have exhibited their cultural talents. In Mascot Making competition they have to create new design which represents a company ideology. The event received 150 entries and design of team consisting Mr. Gurudutt tripathi, Mr. Bhojraj and Ms. Bhanupriya from SISTec was declared as winners. Ojas was a group dance activity to test coordination among students, various group performed dance on stage and the group BSS College was winners. Other events included in the fiesta were Footloose, Sur Sangam, and Ink Dell and War of RJ’s. The war of RJ’s was most enjoyable contest where oratory skills of students were tested asthey have to act like Radio Jockey, During this program our students were live on Radio Mirchi. The show was judged by the RJ Parul from Radio Mirchi and at the end she declared Ms. Reman Patel from IESC sagar as winner. Last but not the least the day got over with the most sensational event Roadies, in the name of Sagar Roadies where odds were to be performed by the participants. The title of Sagar roadies was bagged by Mr. Ranjan. These events were guided by Dr.Divya Kathuria. The Annual function was held on 2 nd March 2013 which made the audience spell bound with the stage performances of various cultural programs by the students. These events were coordinated by Dr. Swati Saxena, the Vice-Principal and Ms. Noopur Chaturvedi. The function day was graced by Chief Guest Ms. Sonia Vergish Khattri and various other dignitaries including Agarwal family, Sagar Group Director Academics, Dr. N.S. Murti, Principal of SPS Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Principal of SISTec, Gandhinagar, Dr. S.S. Patil, Vice Principal, Dr. Swati Saxena, Principal SISTec-E, Dr. Dinesh Rajoriya, Principal SISTec-R Dr. Jyoti Deshmukh and Principal SPS (Saket), Dr. Jayshari Kanwar graced the occasion. The Chairman in his address appreciated the efforts made by the Faculty and Students. Dr. Swati Saxena, Ms. Kalpana Soni, Mr. Abhishek Chandel and Mr. Sachin Baramase were felicitated for their sincere and dedicated services for the growth of the Institution during the last five years. Annual academic report was presented by Principal SISTec Dr. S. S. Patil on this Occasion. He motivated the staff to devote their efforts to make this Institution a pioneer in the field of Education in MP. Dr.Swati Saxena, the Vice-Principal read out the vote of thanks to the majestic gathering. Three daylong events ended with lighting of firework followed by dinner to all.



Flash Mob A grand promotional event ”FLASH MOB ” was organized at DB city Mall Bhopal on 24 thFeb 2013 to Promote techno-cultural program SAGAR FIESTA 2013 .Almost 70 students from SISTec Gandhinagar had participated. They gave magnificent dance performance of about 20 minutes on most popular dance numbers. It came out as a huge success. Event has been coordinated by Prof. Aastha Sharma.

‘COLORS OF RAJASTHAN’ Festivals bring joy, and to set everyone in mode of enjoyment before actual beginning of Sagar Fiesta. Student Committee Consisting of Ms. Usama Khan, Ms. Khushboo Sharma and Ms. Priya Pandey decided to celebrate pre Event Day as traditional day i.e. 27 th Feb 2013. Campus turned itself into a Small Village of Rajasthan. Faculties looked astonishing in their Rajasthan wears and so does the students. For best dressed female student Ms. Nancy Jain won price while Mr. Nagandra was given prize for best dressed male student. While for the faculties’ best dressed male faculty prize was awarded to Mr. Neeraj Chandel and best dressed female faculty prize was awarded to Ms. Youivika Nayak. This occasion was graced by presence of Honorable Secretary Sir, Mr. Siddharth Agrawal and Executive Director, Mr. Pavan Grover.









PROFESSIONAL SKILLS’ With growing competition in every sector, people need

Keeping this in mind management of SISTec Gandhinagar, had arranged faculty development test on 31 st January 2013. Results of Faculty Professional test were declared on 1st March 2013 in which Asst. Prof. Sumita Dixit, School of Management Studies was declared as winner with highest score and she was rewarded with handsome cash prize along with a certificate by the Chairman Sagar Group, Mr. Sudhir Kumar Agarwal,Executive Director Mr. Pavan Grover and Principal Dr. S.S. Patil. In View of test results, Management of SISTec decided to provide training modules to faculties in specific areas of improvement as indicated by test results. On 23 rd March 2013 Ms. Youvika Nayak, Marketing Associate, Sagar Group of Institutions, provided training on Modules such as Email writing, Microsoft office Word and PowerPoint. 5

SISTec NEWSLETTER JAN-APR 2013 HR POLICY REVIEW On 16th Jan 2013 a review meeting for HR policy was conducted by Executive Director, Mr.Pawan Grover along with Manager Administration, Mr.Anand Shrivastava and Marketing Associate Ms. Youvika Nayak. The main agenda for the meeting was to frame the uniform HR policy for Employee of the Sagar Group. During the meeting various employee related issues were addressed like recruitment and joining procedure of the new employees, buddy system for new entrant, leave policy, dress code, On duty leave policy and exit policy was finalized for future implementation. Mr. Pavan Grover has also declared formation of various Student Committees like Student Activity Counsel, Selection of College President, and Discipline Committee. Selection of the students in this committee was based on interview which was conducted by Mr. Pavan Grover. The newly framed HR policies will be helpful for the staff.

Sagar Spinning mill has currently started operation with one unit at present and it is planning to expand its operations by including three more units by end of 2013.

“FEEDBACK IS PART AND PARCEL OF LEARNING PROCESS” With this motto in mind SISTec Gandhinagar conducted parent’s teacher meet on 5 thJanuary 2013. Management along with Faculty members addressed queries and concerns relating to academics attendance, examinations, fee structure and hostel facilities. Parents were very happy with the working of the Institute and appreciated the PTM initiative. During the session guardians also happy with new initiative relating to over all grooming of the students such as Training Session on Job Interview, Spoken English and Extracurricular activities. Feedback and Suggestions from the parents/ guardians revealed that PTMs shall be conducted frequently for the overall development of the student. 6

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM BY PROF. PRANJAPE Prof. Pranjape, a practicing Educationist, Teacher and Trainer for last 58 years, is associated with Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Mandir, Indore for last 22 years. Prof. Pranjape visited SISTec Gandhi Nagar campus on 19th February 2013 and interacted with Faculties of Engineering and Management department. Prof. Pranjape suggested 5way to excel in life - Learn to learn, Learn to do, Learn for Humanity, Learn to be self and Living together. He called upon teaching fraternity to put their genuine 7

OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENGINEERS IN HEALTHCARE SECTOR Guest Lecture on “Opportunities for Engineers in Healthcare sector� was organized by SISTec Gandhi Nagar on 16th March 2013. This workshop was conducted by Mr. Rajaram Iyer, AVP, and Aurbindo Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Iyer during his address talked about trends in Pharma Industry, opportunities for Engineers, Skills set required, and Interview etc. He also advised students to plan their career carefully keeping their interest in mind. He emphasized on improving communication skill and public speaking. Towards the end of the session students asked various questions regarding regulatory framework, Pricing of drugs and patents. Session was concluded by the Head of Management department Mr. Anjum Parwej by proposing a vote of thanks.

HOSTEL DAY - MEMORIES TO CHERISH FOR LIFE On 22nd March 2013 hostel day was celebrated by hostlers at SISTec Gandhinagar open air amphitheater in evening hours. The entire hostel day event was conceived by students starting from planning to implementation. It has also provides a break to students from their regular schedules, enabling to showcase their talent, skills and creativity.

SISTec NEWSLETTER JAN-APR 2013 “SAGAR SPORTS EDUCERE 2013” SISTec Gandhinagar organized a “SAGAR SPORTS EDUCERE -2013” from 17 th to19th March, 2013. It included various competitions like Tug of war, Basketball, Volleyball and Football. Volleyball (girls) event was won by SISTec Gandhi Nagar team by defeating JNCT Bhopal in 3 straight sets, while SISTec boy’s team won the match against TRUBA with a good Score. Football team of SISTec won the finals against RKDF Bhopal, in back to back matches. Nitesh Bankhede payer of volley ball team was given Best Player award for the year. In the closing ceremony Secretary, Sagar Group, Mr. Siddhartha Agrawal and Manager Administration Mr. B S Kushwah awarded the trophies and certificates to the winners. Workshop was conducted by Mr. Kashif Abbasi, Head- Admissions of Educomp Raffels Higher Education Ltd. The workshop focused to prepare students for current market trends and requirements of corporate world. Workshop Included Sessions on Self Introduction, Resume Writing, Handling Interview Questions, how to define Short, Medium and Long term Goal for professional life, Importance of Non Verbal Communication and its interpretation. WORKSHOP ON DBMS/SQL The department of Computer Science and Information Technology, SISTec Gandhi Nagar has organized a workshop on “Database Management Systems and SQL” on 19-20 March 2013. IT industry expert on Business-Intelligence and Data Warehousing conducted this workshop. Students were made aware of the increased demand of database experts in IT industry. They were 10

‘SIMULATION DESIGNING SKILLS- NEED OF THE HOUR’ The Electronics and Communication dept of SISTec, Gandhi Nagar has organized a seminar on “Awareness of Simulation designing tools in Industry” on 21 st March 2013. Seminar was addressed by Mr. Rakesh Talreja, IISc Bangalore and Mr. Ankit Rathore, MANIT Bhopal. This seminar provided new direction to work upon. According to him students should focused their efforts in learning simulation software tools and hardware languages. Currently industries require potential candidate should be well versed with simulation software like Cadence, Mentor graphics, Xilinx etc. A power point presentation was made by Mr. Ankit Rathore to demonstrate different circuits and covered technical aspect, formulas and their derivation .

SEMINAR ON VNA (VECTOR NETWORK ANALYSER) As a part of Faculty enhancement program, department of Electronic and Communication organized seminar on “VNA (Vector Network Analyzer)”. Seminar was conducted by Mr. Naveen Sharma, Technical Manager, Scientific Technology on 11th January 2013. He discussed utility of VNA for research areas of Electrical Networks, Antennas, Radar and Microwaves. Device discussed by him was very advanced network analyzer and compatible with all kind of operating system like Microsoft Windows, Linux and McOS. Uniqueness of that device was its ability to produce result in picture format but data can also be saved in excel sheet for analysis. This makes it very useful for analyzing the complex signals. 12

SISTec NEWSLETTER JAN-APR 2013 “NEW TRENDS IN EMBEDDED SYSTEMS AND VLSI” Guest Lecture on New Trends in “Embedded system and Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI)” was organized by ECE department on 16th Jan 2013. Dr. Jyoti Deshmukh, Principal, Sagar Institute of Science, Technology and Engineering (SISTec-E) was the Chief Speaker. Embedded systems are used for specific control function within a large circuit like mobiles, washing machines, calculator etc. She enlightens the Faculty members by demonstrating various forms of circuits by way of Power point presentation. She also discussed about the history, structural designing development and Challenges involved in VLSI.

EXPERT LECTURE ON SPEECH RECOGNITION Dr. Dinesh Rajoriya, Principal, Sagar Institute of





(SISTec-R) delivered an expert Lecture on ‘Speech Recognition’ as a part of knowledge up gradation for faculties organized by Dept. of Electronics and Communication. Speech recognition is the translation of spoken words into text, known as Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) or Speech to Text (STT). The expert focused his lecture on recent developments in the field. According to him Speech recognition can be useful tool for various organizations such as Banks. The unique features of speech signal make it difficult to pirate and hence is very useful in security systems.

MAKSON- A REAL TIME LEARNING OPPORTUNITY FOR PHARMACY STUDENTS Sagar Institute of Pharmacy & Technology (SIP Tec) organized an industrial visit to “MAKSON Healthcare limited at Mandideep, Bhopal (M.P)” on March 23 rd 2013, under the guidance of Principal Prof. M.L.Jain, HOD Mr. Shailesh Narayan and all the faculty members. Makson is the leading Confectionery Machine Manufacturer & also the largest Contract Confectionery Manufacturer in India. The Executive of the company demonstrated various aspects of process regarding the product development. Students were made familiar with the essentials of 13

CRICKET TOURNAMENT FOR FACULTIES’ SISTec organized “Staff Cricket Tournament” on 4 th January, 2013.

There were two pools made in which, pool A consists of the teams from Mechanical, CS/IT and EC/EX and pool B consist of administration and technical staff. Organizing committee consist of Sports officer Mr. Nitish Kumar and Ms. Sheel Prabha. Final match was played between Mechanical and Admin. Mechanical team seems to be in good for to repeat the previous record. But admin team played so well that they made Mechanical team to declare the innings with a score of just 59 runs which Admin team chased and declared as winner of the tournament. The award for the Man of tournament was given to Mr. Kuldeep (117 runs and 5 wickets) while Abhinav Raisa was declared Best Bowler, the Best Fielder award goes to Mr. Yatendra Toamer. The entire tournament was kept lively by the commentator Mr. Shashi Ranjan and Mr. Sushil Kumar.

SUPPORT STAFF CRICKET TOURNAMENT SISTec organized “Support Staff Cricket Tournament” on 12th January, 2013. In this cricket tournament 2 teams (SPS, Gandhi nagar and SISTec Support Staff) had participated. SISTec Support Staff won the final match by defeating SPS Gandhi Nagar.

SISTEC SUMMER SPORTS-2013 Sagar Institute of Science & Technology organized SISTec Summer Sports Fun from 20 th April to 28th April, 2013 at Gandhi Nagar campus. Summer Sports 2013 included different events for boys & girls. Boys’ events were Indoor Cricket, Under Water Tug-of-War, and Water Polo while Girls event were Badminton, chess & Indian wrestling. This inter branch competition was organized for students & faculty members. In Under Water Tug-of-War (boys) event team of C.S - II/1 st year won the final match against team of E.C-2 nd year. In another event of indoor cricket (boys) team of C.S-2 nd Year won the final match against team of M.E-3 rd year. While the event of Water Polo (boys) E.C-2nd Year team won the final match against Sparkles of C.S-3 rd year. In Badminton (girls) event Ms. Preety Sehrawat C.S. - II/2 nd year, won the final match against Ms. Alphons Thomas E.C- 2nd year. Ms. Preety Sehrawat from C.S-2 nd year won the match against Ms. Jyoti Kumari E.C-1 st year in Indian wrestling (girls) event. Third event for Girls’ Chess was won by Ms. Pushpanjali Kumari E.C-2 nd year. In separate event of 1st year (girls) badminton Ms. Neha Kumari-C.S-1 st year, emerged as winner against strong 14


opponent Ms. Khushboo Singh IT-1 year. Indian wrestling (girls) event was won by Ms. Sneha Kumari IT/1 st year by defeating Ms. Anuradha Dwivedi in the final match. Ms. Namrata from C.S-1 st year won the Chess event.

FACULTIES ACHIEVEMENT’S Prof. Piyush Nema [ME Deptt.] had been award with Fellowship of young scientist by MPCST Prof. Piyush Nema of ME Department was awarded with Fellowship of young scientist [2013-2014] by MP Council of Science and Technology [MPCST] 28 th MP YOUNG SCIENTIST CONGRESS held at Vigyan Bhavan Bhopal on March 01, 2013. He received the award by the hands of Prof. Promod K Verma, Scientific Advisor, Govt. of MP and Director General MPCST, Bhopal. Asst. Prof. Swati Yadav Cleared University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test for Lectureship (June 2012) in “Management Discipline”. Asst. Prof. Sheel Prabha Gautam Cleared University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test for Lectureship (Dec 2012) in “Physical Education Discipline”.

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT’S • Chancellor’s scholarship award to Tanmay Gupta (8th sem, ME) RGPV Chancellor’s scholarship award for year 2012-13 was awarded to Mr.Tanmay Gupta (8th sem ME) on 4th Feb 2013. Mr. Tanmay Gupta topped theory marks among the entire 3rd year mechanical engineering branch by defeating students of colleges affiliated to RGTU. He scored 392/500 in 5 th sem and 351/500 in 6th sem. He had been facilitated with the chancellor’s scholarship of Rs. 20,000/- along with certificate. •

Mr. Masuk Sharma, Ms. Jyoti, Mr. Divyansh kumar & Ms. Nikita Saxena of CSE -6 th sem participated and stood 1st in” Techno-Srijan-2013” an event conducted by Bansal Institute of Science and Technology for demonstrating a Project on “Gesture Recognition and providing active security in Home using Microsoft Kinect device”.

A Competition organized by NIIT Bhopal on C/C++ for the students of CSE/IT (4 th and 6th sem) in which Mr. Rohan Pandharam of IT-4th sem stood 1st .

Cipher came in month of Jan and selected Aman Verma and Krashnakant Lovanshi. The next recruiter was Rawelcom in which Paritosh Khare, Ankit Soni and Sushil Kumar. Varroc group selected Rajesh Gawande, Abhishek Tomar, Ajay singh Thakur and Mahendra Pimpalkar. Magadh Precision selected Akash V, Hargovind Prajapati, Manjeet Kumar, Navneet Mishra, Rahul Vishwakarma, simranjeet singh Bhogal, Tanveer Ahamed, Vinod kumar Kirar and Yogendra Singh.
