COLLECTIBLES

Hollywood Obsessions sells artifacts and vintage pieces signed by celebrities and musicians.

Stones fan? Not only can you own a photograph autographed by Rolling Stones band members but you can dress the part too, with a Mick Jagger T-shirt and logo belt.

From Marilyn Monroe to Led Zeppelin, Hollywood Obsessions brings memories alive for the true fan.

has a whip from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade; a hat from The Godfather, autographed by Godfather stars Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, James Caan, Diane Keaton and Robert Duvall and by author Mario Puzo and director Francis Ford Coppola; a pistol from Pirates of the Caribbean; and a purse autographed by Marilyn Monroe.

So welcome to Hollywood Obsessions—the store that plays on our infatuations. Katrina Schmidt, the store’s general manager, calls Hollywood Obsessions a “fusion retail celebrity lifestyle boutique” rather than just a memorabilia store. “Everything is celebrity- or music-oriented. We’re selling signed artifacts and vintage pieces,” Schmidt says. Indeed, Hollywood Obsessions is more like a museum than a store. Walking around the 3,500-square-foot space, it’s easy to be impressed. There is a Grateful Deadautographed guitar in a coffin-shaped display case; framed guitars signed by members of the Beatles, Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones; a set of Bob Marley autographed bongos; and albums signed by U2, Bob Dylan, The Doors and Elvis Presley, which range in price from $295 to $1,295. Movie fans will find items straight off the set. Hollywood Obsessions

Sports fans will love Hollywood Obsession’s collection of autographed memorabilia: from a Babe Ruth baseball to a Muhammad Ali boxing glove to a Tiger Woods golf glove and a Michael Jordan basketball. Looking for something with a little more meaning? Historical items include a Princess Diana-autographed hat, an Al Capone-autographed $1 bill from 1923 and the ultimate collectible: the Presidential Golf Ball Collection, autographed by U.S. presidents John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. But in addition to memorabilia, Hollywood Obsessions sells fine art including celebrity paintings from Venezuelan caricaturist Jota Leal, photographs by Terry O’Neill and graphic arts from H.R. Giger and Al Hirschfeld.

With more than 200,000 items of memorabilia in stock, Schmidt says she’s in awe of some of the items she sees, admitting she never knows what’s coming. “It’s like Christmas every time we get a shipment. It’s so exciting to see what’s inside that box.”
