there are plenty of keralite still who have a tendency to accept any Gulf jobs and by doing so they think they are on the safer side once they get a chance to fly abroad. It is nothing but this ignorance that fosters visa agents and without perceiving the nature and area of the jobs they fall under their traps. Even though the cases are like this, I am not ready to underestimate Gulf jobs and I don’t want to discourage anyone who cherishes to come over here for his/her better prospect. But one may wonder that how bizarre the situation is here in a foreign country and furthermore one cannot be adapted here if he has such an affinity towards his motherland. According to me the interference of our ministry is not so strong and robust when we compare with the other not so thickly populated countries and it is the greatest issue that we confront here. How can it be solved? If the government is ready to implement some tough policies it will not remain as a far cry and no doubt stringent laws must be implemented and practised against any

violations of labour- law in case it occurs. The services of Air India should be ameliorated and steps must be taken by the government to make it as the number one Indian flight and if they are committed and dedicated it is going to be a reality and solace for all the expats. Some of you might have mistaken that you are asking for the moon when I delineated and suggested a remedy for the Air India issue. I cannot blame you anyway as they have done nothing but injustice till now. Time and again, our ministers give us magnificent promises to solve the problems of expatriates and as we have learned from the dictum ‘magnificent promises are always to be suspected’ nothing worked much but empty rhetoric. So we hope better amendments to address the problems of expats and may our leaders have the valour to act irrespective of external pressures and bondage.
