ITTY BITTY BASKETBALL (45-minute class: 3-5 yr olds) Come play for the organization that invented basketball, the YMCA! This introductory co-ed youth basketball program is designed to emphasize and develop basketball skill work including dribbling, passing, shooting and team play. During this progressive session, classes focus on individual development as well as teamwork and character development. Games will be incorporated throughout the session but this is NOT a team competition league. Your little hoopster will learn basketball while having tons of FUN!

With a focus on developing your child’s motor skills, this class is a great foundation to getting your child to enjoy skill building and team play in a fun environment. Join us in celebrating the 24th anniversary of our Girls’ Tri-State Basketball Tournament in 2017! Each year, hundreds of girls, grades 4-8, come together for an amazing 24-hour mega-tournament!
Our Tri-State Basketball Tournament is the longest running basketball tournament of its kind in the country! With a three game guarantee, the games are played in less than 24 hours with teams from ND, IA, NE, MN and SD! March 24 & 25, 2017

YOUTH & FAMILY WE DON'T JUST DEVELOP SKILLS, WE DEVELOP CHARACTER!
INCHWORMS-PARENT/CHILD (30-min class: Walkers-3yr olds with parent) This 30-minute class is designed for the child and parent. It emphasizes basic coordination skills, apparatus awareness, social interaction, and gross-motor development. Children have organized activities incorporated into a variety of fun stations, while interacting with Mom, Dad or even grandparents.
BOUNCING BEARS (30-min class: 3yr olds "potty trained") This 30-minute class is for the child who is ready to participate without a parent. It offers a variety of fun and challenging activities with an emphasis on learning coordination, various body positions and basic progression skills on the vault, bars, balance beam and the floor. In addition, this class will help the child with developing early life skills such as listening/following directions, taking turns and making new friends.
KINDER-ROOS (45-min class: 4-5yr olds) This 45-minute class focuses on coordination, strength and flexibility. Kinder-Roos is an introduction to gymnastics basics on the vault, bars, balance beam and the floor. Progressive skills are taught to encourage a foundation for long-term athletic development through fun activity stations. Children will learn about the YMCA’s four character development values, practice listening skills and be part of a team. Of course our rope swing, trampolines and foam pit will be a part of the fun!
JUMPIN' JACKS (INTERMEDIATE PRE-K/KINDER) (60-minute class: 4-5 yr olds) This 60-minute class is a "Jump-UP" from the Kinder-Roos class. Jumpin' Jacks is for the Pre-K/Kindergartner gymnast who has mastered their skill progression in Kinder-Roos and/or is ready for more challenges. In this class there will be a continued focus on improving coordination, strength and flexibility through more advanced skills. Besides skill development, character development and FUN will always be a part of each class. Be ready to "JUMP" like a "JACK"! Prerequisite for this class is to test out with a coach.

FLIPPERS (INTERMEDIATE GYMNASTICS I) (120-min class: Ages 6+) This 120-minute class is for the intermediate gymnast to further explore their potential in gymnastics. Gymnasts will need to have some previous gymnastics experience as they will learn more complex skills and combinations on all of the apparatus. The progression in this class will focus on improving previously learned basic skills while incorporating new intermediate skills. Prerequisite for this class is to have completed at least (3) sessions of “Twisters.”
BOYS TUMBLE & STRENGTH (60-min class: Ages 6+)
This 60-minute class for boys focuses on coordination, strength, conditioning and flexibility while introducing basic boys tumbling and gymnastics elements using rings, floor work, trampoline and the pommel horse. Youth in this class will also work on listening skills, teamwork, taking instruction and the YMCA's four character development values.
OPEN GYMNASTICS (2-hours: Ages 6+) Do you want to try out gymnastics for the first time? Are you a current gymnast and need a little extra time to practice? Open Gymnastics is class time for new or current gymnasts (ages 6+) to try-out skills for the first time or to practice and improve their current skill level. A coach will be available to assist the gymnasts during this class time. New class formats and class times are added throughout the year. We do this through offering a fun non-competitive gymnastics program with a progression-based curriculum, teaching full-body movement skills with gymnastics and tumbling elements. Our program will always prioritize safety while encouraging kids to do their best. We not only build skills, we build character. In everything we do, we emphasize the YMCA’s core character values of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY.

Y-CLUB AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM As the leader in youth development, we understand the importance of providing our participants with a balance of academically rich activities as well as an enhanced focus on overall physical well-being. We work side-by-side with industry experts and your school district to design experiences that help your child learn, grow and thrive.
WHY THE Y-CLUB AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM? More Physical Activity Our after school care program includes at least 30 minutes of outdoor or indoor physical activity and movement a day.
Y-Club Staff Our staff is carefully selected and receives over 30 hours of training, from child development to the importance of being a positive role model.

YOUTH FITNESS ORIENTATION (Ages 10-15)
A Youth Fitness Orientation is required for all youth, ages 10-15, who wish to use the Rysdon Conditioning Center. After completing the orientation, colored wristbands must be worn by the youth member in order to access specific equipment in the center.
PERSONAL & PRIVATE TRAINING AT THE Y Our Nationally Certified Personal Trainers and Instructors help you to create a program that is unique and just for you. Whatever your training goals are, we will take your fitness level to new heights! Get Active, Stay Healthy and Live Longer The Y offers all kinds of wellness opportunities for active older adults, from baby boomers to seniors, including physical fitness, water exercise, social activities and more. There are several options available for you to get started. You can sign up for a Wellness Consultation with one of our Healthy Living Coaches or try a Silver Sneakers exercise class. Camp Leif Ericson and the Downtown YMCA will provide the perfect setting for a rejuvenating day dedicated to women's wellness education, time in nature, and most importantly a day for just you! AERIAL YOGA Take flight in this class which combines an aerial experience and a full-body yoga workout where you will you gain strength and flexibility. Classes taught by Melissa Kirby, certified yoga instructor, at the Youth Performance Center (2517 S Shirley Ave.)

This seven week yoga program will help you build strength and increase flexibility by teaching you gentle yoga poses, breathing and stress relief techniques to help tone and prepare the mind and body for childbirth. WOMEN ON WEIGHTS “WOW” This 7-week program is a step by step introductory class designed for women who are interested in learning how to use free weights and weightlifting machines so that they can safely and effectively incorporate them into their workout. This progressive program will incorporate educational components and hands on instruction during each class session. Gain confidence in the weight room while you learn how to strength train with proper form and confidence. YMCA’S DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM
In the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program, a trained lifestyle coach introduces topics in a supportive, small group environment and encourages participants as they explore how healthy eating, physical activity and behavior changes can benefit their health.
Our 12-month program consists of 16 weekly sessions, followed by monthly sessions led by a trained lifestyle coach who facilitates a small group of people with similar goals.
