Valentine’s Day Event 2018 Cornerstone holds an extremely popular and wellattended annual Valentine’s Day celebration especially for single female clients, a tradition going on ten years. “My job is to help clients plan for their futures and live the life they want. A big part of that for women includes having fulfilling relationships, and I love that clients have developed lasting friendships after meeting at the event.” – Richelle Hofer, Wealth Advisor
CARING FOR THE WHOLE PERSON THROUGH FINANCIAL EDUCATION AND FUN Whether we like it or not, most things in life come down to money, including the exciting events like getting married, having children, and retiring, and the unfortunate events like illness and divorce. There is a financial side to nearly everything in life. Some things we can anticipate and plan for and sometimes we get thrown a curveball. And, the unfortunate reality is that women get thrown those curveballs more often than men. Women are 4 times more likely than men to be widowed. The median age when a woman loses her spouse is 59, and many women can expect to be widows for 15 – 20 years.1 Although 80% to 90% of women will be solely responsible for all household financial decisions at some point in their lives,2 the world of finance is predominantly geared toward men. “Even the ‘financial’ television networks feel more like ESPN than HGTV,” says Richelle Hofer, Wealth Advisor at Cornerstone Financial Solutions. At best, women may find the world of financial planning uninterest-
ing. At worst, some women find it intimidating. That’s why Richelle has made it her mission to simplify the complicated and bring financial planning back to a personal level. By building connections, providing education, and making the overwhelming understandable, she works to help women feel more confident with financial decisions. “Our industry talks a lot about ‘holistic’ or ‘comprehensive’ wealth management, but I believe that means a lot more than just numbers,” says Hofer. “True comprehensive wealth management means caring for the whole person.” One way Richelle and the Cornerstone Team do that is by hosting just as many fun events for clients throughout the year as they do education events. “I’ve always said that the more I know my clients, the better I can help them.” We hold frequent review appointments with clients to go over their financial situation, but the time we spend together outside of the office, sharing experiences and having fun, can be just as valuable.
