Greetings from Sioux Falls Christian Schools! We count it a privilege to offer quality PK-12 Christian education in the Sioux Falls community. Information about tuition and our registration process can be found on our website at siouxfallschristian.org. There are also links for you to download the necessary forms to begin the registration process. We hope that this will help you in making a very important decision about the education of your child(ren). Sioux Falls Christian Schools History Sioux Falls Christian Schools as an academic institution, seeks to educate children grades preschool through grade twelve in the light of God’s Word. The school had its beginnings in 1958 as an elementary school known as Calvin Christian. Classes were held for the first 21 students, grades 1-6, in a church basement as the school facility had not yet been completed. While much has changed throughout the years, the foundation upon which our schools were built remains true. Our schools continue to operate under the premise that God’s Word is our foundation. We are also committed to educational excellence; our mission is to develop each child’s academic potential in a loving community of Christian faith. Our vision is that each child lives for Christ daily and experiences the joy of lifelong service for Him. The growth of our schools attest to the strength of our mission. Provided with an academic curriculum based upon Biblical principles and with strong spiritual role models, students leave our school with a foundation that has prepared them to be impact players for Jesus Christ and His Kingdom in the community and the world.

Our Focus Our Christian schools are uniquely structured to provide a transforming education for Christian families in the Sioux Falls region. Our student body represents 600 families. These families recognize three dominant themes that characterize the Sioux Falls Christian Schools: a Christ-centered education, a family focus, and a commitment to the unity of all believers. A Passion for Christ-centered, Excellent Education First and foremost, our schools strive to place Jesus Christ at the center of philosophy, purpose, and programs. Our academic and co-curricular programs recognize the one true God as revealed in the Scriptures. As the foundation for all knowledge, the Bible provides the basis from which to interpret all areas of life. This understanding permeates all relationships to Him, to ourselves, to others and to the universe, which He created. Because an understanding of the creation is necessary for responsible servanthood in the Kingdom, academic excellence is a result. Our students consistently score well on the ACT College entrance exam and on various other standardized tests. A Family Focus Sioux Falls Christian Schools hold to the conviction that educating children is the responsibility of Christian parents. Therefore, the school’s authority emanates from the Christian home. Our governing board consists of parents who profess and promote our Christian values and beliefs. Parent committees support our mission through groups such as Moms-In-Prayer (a weekly prayer group).

The Sioux Falls School District includes 24 elementary schools, for grades K-5. In the Fall of 2016, Sioux Falls will have an additional Spanish immersion school. The new Sonia Sotomayor Elementary will be located at 1610 S. Lake Avenue. Five middle schools also serve the Sioux Falls area for grades 6-8. At this level, intramural and extracurricular activities provide opportunities for students to enhance their self esteem, increase their interest in sports, and help them develop social skills. At the High School level, the district has diversified with 3 traditional high schools, and 3 non-traditional secondary schools. An alternative school, project based school, and career & technical academy meet the diverse needs of Sioux Falls students.

Start Something! of the Sioux Empire

Imagine the Possibilities. What Will You Start?

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a community based mentoring program that matches Bigs (mentors) with Littles (youth) ages 7-14 and help facilitate the relationship into a meaningful friendship. The goal of our program is to enrich the lives of the children that we serve by providing them with a consistent, reliable and positive role model that they can trust, depend on and have fun with. Become a Big... Watch the ordinary become extraordinary in the life of a child. Volunteer to be a Big Sister, Big Brother, Big Couple or Mentor Mom. With your support, you can help put a child on the right path in our community. Become a Little... Enrolling your child in Big Brothers Big Sisters can be one of the most rewarding family experiences for parents, guardians and children. Big Brothers Big Sisters will provide a sincere, safe and fun role-model for your child. Girls and boys can be referred to our program by their parent or legal guardian. A Big Sister or Big Brother is another positive adult figure in your child’s life who can support, encourage and inspire life-dreams.

501 S Holly Blvd., Brandon 605-582-6315 • Enrollment: 551 Principal: Merle Horst Merle.Horst@k12.sd.us Welcome to the Brandon Valley School District. Brandon Valley School District 49-2 was originated in 1962 reorganizing with the Valley Springs School District and twelve common school districts creating one district. This new district encompasses 128 square miles bordering Sioux Falls to the west, Minnesota and Iowa to the East, Canton to the South and Garretson to the North. Our district has grown from 900 students in 1962 to nearly 3,800 students in 2016 making it the sixth largest school district in South Dakota. The five districts larger than Brandon Valley include Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Aberdeen, Watertown, and Harrisburg. Our district has a high school, middle school, intermediate school and four elementary schools with one elementary school in Valley Springs, two elementary schools in Brandon and one in Sioux Falls. The newest school, Brandon Valley Intermediate, opened in the Fall of 2015, and is located in Brandon. Brandon Valley has stayed abreast of the growth of the district with many building projects over the years. Brandon Valley School District 49-2 is fortunate to be one of the very few districts in the state of South Dakota that is enjoying growth in numbers of students and taxable valuation. Most South Dakota Districts are experiencing declining enrollment. The growth of our enrollment places Brandon Valley in a very favorable financial position that enables the district to maintain small class sizes and provide complete curriculum for the students. Small class sizes also contribute to the fact that Brandon Valley test scores are among the highest among the other larger schools in South Dakota. The district employs 470 staff. This includes 245 teaching staff, 211 classified staff and 14 administrators. There are 1,700 students bused daily. Students have a full range of extracurricular choices in athletics, music, speech, and drama, and Brandon Valley is well known around the state and region for our excellence in both athletics and fine arts. These include football, basketball, wrestling, track, volleyball, cross country, golf, tennis, bowling, softball, baseball, soccer, cheer and dance, powerlifting and student manager/trainer. The High School Band program continually receives top ratings in all competitions. The completion of the Brandon Valley Performing Arts Center has brought the drama program performances to a superior level. Spring musicals sell out four performances on a single weekend. Students are also involved in the inner-workings of the behind the scenes lighting and sound equipment during various student performances. The “PAC” is an extraordinary asset to students and the community to promote the fine arts. Brandon Valley has a full range of programs addressing the wide variety of learning needs of its students. In addition, students in the High School have many choices of Advanced Placement & Rising Scholar College Credit courses that prepare them for their future college experiences. Brandon Valley prides itself in its professional staff and progressive curriculum that prepares students for the future. Brandon Valley School District 49-2 will continue to grow and keep pace with the requirements to meet every student’s needs. In Brandon Valley, our business is the creation of learning environments that result in success.

Welcome to another year at the Dell Rapids School District. As staff prepares for the 2016-2017 school year, we hope the following information assists you in learning more about our schools. Dell Rapids Public School has an enrollment of 905 students and consists of a high school, middle school, and elementary school, all located in Dell Rapids. The new elementary school opened its doors in 2012 and houses students in grades KP-4. Dell Rapids School District strives to educate students to be life-long learners in a changing world. Each day we work to provide opportunities for all students to find success while building a foundation for the future. Students have the ability to participate in a multitude of extracurricular activities, and curriculum opportunities constantly change to support student interests. The district has a Kindergarten Prep program along with a before and after school program, Haven. In-town bussing is available for all students and parents can easily view and manage lunch accounts online. Classes begin Wednesday, August 24, and all buildings have student registration activities taking place on Wednesday, August 10.
