ACTING DIRECTOR’S BIO Prof Hui Kam Man, Acting Director of SingHealth Flow Cytometry, is also concurrently the Deputy Group Director (Translational Research & Core Platforms) at SingHealth, and the Principal Investigator at the Division of Cellular and Molecular Research, National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). He holds Adjunct Professorships with the Cancer & Stem Cell Biology Programme at Duke-NUS Medical School and the Department of Biochemistry at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. A Joint Research Director at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) at A*STAR, Prof Hui is also an Adjunct Senior Investigator at the Singapore BioImaging Consortium (SBIC), A*STAR. After his PhD at the Northwestern University Medical School in the United States in 1982, Prof Hui joined the Royal London Hospital and the National Institute for Medical Research in the United Kingdom (UK) in 1984. Prof Hui then became a founding faculty member at the newly established IMCB in 1987, and subsequently established the research facility at NCCS in 1997. Prof Hui’s research combines molecular biology, genomics tools, animal models, imaging technologies and the development of novel diagnostic platforms to decipher the molecular basis of hepatocarcinogenesis. He was awarded the Singapore National Science Award (now the President's Science Award) in 1996 for his work in cancer genes and therapy, and the Fellowship of The Royal College of Pathologists (UK) in 2001.

BACKGROUND SingHealth Flow Cytometry has been in operation since 2013. Over the years, the platform has expanded its influence, serving SingHealth laboratories and beyond. The platform is well-equipped with 3 flow cytometers mainly for cell analysis and flow cell sorting. These instruments come with different optical configurations which suit most flow cytometry-based applications. Dedicated platform staffs have also catered to the needs to users, customizing collection formats for flow cell sorting. Besides providing reliable and affordable flow cytometry services, the core strives to promote flow cytometry by organizing workshops and seminars periodically.
