Q&A with the tweentown girls

WELCOME TO THE SPRING EDITION OF

tweentown This issue of Tweentown has been the most difficult edition I have ever had to make, due to the uncertain times because of the Coronavirus outbreak. We have been speaking openly to the girls about what is going on right now because they are big enough to read, see things on TV and understand most of what is going on. No-one actually knows what is going to happen. Most of us are self-isolating, at home, seeing very few people and doing a lot of stuff indoors. We are homeschooling, - many are homeschooling more than one child - a task that has proved hard for many of us. Some are also working from home. Loads of us are also isolated from friends and loved ones, - for the safety of everyone. This magazine had to be done only with the 3 of us, as I didn't want to put anyone at risk, so the only models you'll see are the Tweentown girls - hope you can bear with us. I have also asked the girls what they think of these times, their worries and thoughts in a Q&A inside. I truly hope you are all safe, taking care of each other, and social distancing. We hope this magazine can inspire you a bit - take care and see you soon. XOXO with love from Anya & the Tweentown girls - Audrey and Holly

AU DR E Y ' S BE AU T Y T I P S my current beauty routines Audrey Eva here - I just wanted to say HI, and hope you are all well in these weird times.

I must admit, I haven't exactly been eating healthy, so my skin is a bit bad from all the junk.

I think it is important to look after yourself and especially now when we are mostly inside. It is quite boring isn't it being at home, but on the other side I like being with my sister and parents, although I sometimes need to pop out to clear my own head.

I found this awesome stuff literally a lifesaver for teenage skin, and now I am freshfaced again.

We have been logging on to some online yoga and dance classes.Just to keep going. The dance classes are very fun, and very fast, and we like it a lot. It is also important to get some fresh air every day. We are allowed out to play if it is only my sister and I. We skateboard, go roller-skating, or walk all the way to the meadows and feed the ducks. Because we use hand sanitizers every time we are out, and wash our hands profusely, my hands feel like sandpaper. BUT I have an awesome handcream, which I use, otherwise my skin will crack.

I have also been practicing using a tiny bit of make-up- not much, my Dad is not keen ha ha, so it is really just a bit on the lip and a tiny bit of blusher (because I look like a ghost,). All of my favourites are listed over there <<<<<< KEEP fresh and healthy, STAY well clear of other people, BE nice and see you on the other side soon. XOXO Audrey Eva

WHEN HOMESCHOOLING IS A

necessity

Here in Denmark, we are on our third week of social distancing due to the Corona virus outbreak. Our day-to-day looks a lot different than what we are used to, and many are very worried about what the future might bring, how long this is going to last and the repercussions.

We have also had to homeschool. The Danish teachers have made sure that there is something to do every day in every single subject. I am not gonna lie, but this has been seriously hard work. Because I have had to work from home, as well as helping the girls out with their tasks and subjects.

We have been talking a lot about the virus here. We have been honest with the girls and told them that this is a situation none of us have ever tried before. We have talked about the fact that this is an invisible enemy that we can’t see, and consequences we are not sure of.

Lots of Danish parents have complained about the workload, and lots of children (and parents) have been stressed out. I have written down a few tips that have helped me get through their workload and my workload – without losing it entirely. (Not exactly true though, I did have a few moments last week where I had to step out and get some fresh air and a coffee ha ha)

H O M E S C H O O L I N G o ur top tips for o lder ki d s !!

Make a weekly plan and have day-to-day tasks that need to be done. Mark all the things that have to be sent to a teacher in red and due date. Get all relevant books, tools (eraser, ruler, etc) out so it is right next to them. After they finish their tasks, it time for recess, or a quick brainbreak outside for some fresh air. Make sure there is healthy snacks and water next to them. If you have a weekly plan, you can decide to make maths one day. English the next. etc.

Make sure the of the days are filled with activities like cookery class, outside for biology, a history lesson in the sunshine, and reading your book somewhere peaceful and cozy. Lock the screens away until they finish. Encourage them to keep in contact with their friend on FT, as isolation can make you very lonely. LOWER the expectations. You can only do your best. S E E Y O U O N T H E OT H E R S I D E

I just want to thank all of the awesome teachers who have created homework plans for my kids – Thanks a million for your work. It’s much appreciated.

A: I am feeling fine, I like to be at home with my family of course, but sometimes it gets a bit boring.

4

H: Good, but I am a little bit bored. You don’t really do much. My days all seem the same.

2

A: Of course I am scared, but I try to stay positive. I believe we will beat this!

3

5

A: Of course I am worried, but I am positive and always hope for the best. I am sure it is only a phase, and we will beat to soon, but it is important to do as the government says, otherwise it will just keep spreading.

Do you have any tips and idea for DIY’s or something to do at home? H: Play boardgames, read a book. We made funky Easter eggs, and put them on some pretty branches in the livingroom. We also bake a lot. A: Yes, you can draw, do fun TikToks, as well as make dinner and cakes. We also go outside and play. I read books, and play my iPad too. We drew a long chalk road, and roller-skated on it all day.

What does a day look like for you at the moment? A: Pretty much homework all day. Relax time, going for walks, baking stuff, reading and REPEAT!!! H: I have to homeschool with my mum. It’s hard work. We have a lot to do, in all subjects. I also log on with my classmates and our maths teacher. We go for walks too, to the skatepark, playground, park, just to get some fresh air. Then I play with my guineapigs, play on the iPad, read and bake pancakes.

Are you thinking about what the future might bring and are you worried?

H: Yes, I don’t like the fact that we don’t know what is going on, and how long this might take. Some people are getting restless, loosing their jobs, I don’t like it.

Are you scared about the Coronavirus?

H: Kinda, it is bad I have heard. I am worried that someone from my family might get it - even me. Kids can die too I have read.

N

N

So girls, how are you doing right now?

6

IS there something you’d like to say to others kids if they are worried? A: Don’t worry, stay calm, talk to your folks about it. We are going to be ok. Call your friends on FT so you don’t get too lonely. It is possible to stay positive. Do some yoga. H: Just don’t worry, stay safe, keep distance and stay at home. WASH your hand a lot! You can also call your friends on FT, write them a letter, make some puzzles, play with your pets.

wash your hands!! social distancing!! be kind!! we can do this!! be together- alone!
