he word can’t doesn’t exist in Bill Grundler’s vocabulary, nor in his character. Never has, never will. The just turned 47-yearold former firefighter and current fitness instructor for a gym called Crossfit Inferno has been besting life’s challenges ever since he was a youngster. “As a child I don’t think I’d ever planned to do what I’m doing and what I’m feeling right now,” he said. “When I was a kid I always wanted to be an astronaut. I was always looking up at the moon. I was all set to go to the Air Force Academy and went there for a visit then decided on that trip, I just couldn’t do it. It was a point in my life being a senior I just didn’t think I could live under the rules of somebody else again. I was just itching to get out on my own and do my own thing.” Grundler was born in Newport Beach, but moved to Phoenix with his family when he was five. When he wasn’t gazing at the moon, he was always wrestling around with his kid brother. Both excelled at the sport throughout their school years. Grundler would continue on being a wrestling coach.

“Once I got out of school, my degree was in biology, anatomy, and physiology. My plan was originally to be a doctor, then a physical therapist. I got a job as biology teacher in Arizona. I was also coaching at the time. I loved being fit. I loved teaching people to be better athletes, but bored with the idea of just teaching in a classroom for the next 30 years.”
