Jim Guild started building custom homes in 1977, catering to a highend clientele in Lake Tahoe and the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to Central Oregon.
In 1995, he teamed up with his wife Nunzie, whose interest in art history brought a unique understanding of the stylistic integrity of using authentic antique materials to the homes they build. She routinely researches and sources salvaged materials such as lighting and hardware to give a home those special touches every homeowner cherishes. Many of the local builders and artisans they cooperate with are experts who specialize in trades such as woodworking, cabinetry, wrought iron, masonry, tile, glass, sculpture, and landscaping. Their synergy of high standards, emphasis on details, teamwork, and on-site presence transforms each building into a home of outstanding character. For their exquisite craftsmanship and quality, Jim and Nunzie have earned wide industry acclaim – most recently for restoring historic homes in Bend, including the splendid H.J. Overturf Home on Congress Street. Their customer-oriented, hands-on knowledge and experience has won them the respect and trust of a sophisticated clientele who have come to appreciate the downto-earth elegance of Jim Guild Construction. Their client list includes satisfied homeowners in Black Butte Ranch, Vandervert Ranch, Canyons Ranch, Elk Lake and Spring River, Awbrey Butte, as well as in the cities of Bend and Portland.

We found Mr. Guild to be knowledgeable and competent as he addressed the difficult challenges of matching logs, board and batten, and river rock to an existing, exclusive log home. We endorse Mr. Guild as a professional contractor, capable of very high-quality work.”
